During this period +/- 2 years, You had a good chance of witnessing the best Rock & Roll Band on the planet at that time. Of course they had off nights. For God's Sake they were playing close to 300 shows a year. The off nights were still good enough for me. The nights they were firing on all cylinders and they were in that zone, man nothing was even close.....
These were the glory days for sure my friend. Just incredible stuff really. To look back on it now and think it was 20+ years ago is so crazy. I’m old 😂
@@maxreed4010 Old friends Heros and lifetimes. Dont ever let a single memory fade away.....People say the 60's and 70's were the Glory Days of music. I beg to differ. Maybe Radio Airplay. I have to say the 90's - 00's was the best era in Rock & Roll. Allman Brothers had a 2nd coming. Jerry's death in '95 sparked inspiration in Warren, Panic, and the New Grass movement. Festivals were given new life. Lalapalooza was great for the first 2 years. H.O.A.R.D.. Fest kicked ass for a few years. Then the smaller Festivals around the south. I was fortunate enough to be from Winston-Salem NC and we had Ziggy's. I turned 21 in '95 .Saw my first Panic Show at Ziggy's 5-24-92. One week before graduating High School. Hit Panic Tour hard from '97- 4/21/02. I would've hit more shows had I known what fate had in store. I wouldn't trade those years for anything
22 years go by fast. My lord, they were crisp back then. Complete lockstep. All cylinders firing. One heartbeat. Effortless flawlessness. Miss this. Great days.
Not sure what it is about Mikey’s first licks in I’m Not Alone that pulls the heart strings but all these years later it still does. Maybe my favorite version of it they ever played right here. What a man, what a band ❤️
Hell yes! I remember seeing the camera's all over the place at this show. I was only freshly 20 years old at this show. Oak Mountain runs were the best! Glad I got to attend many of them. Those were the days!
Two of my children were stage hands at Oak Mountain. They got to hang out with the band. WSP stayed at Oak Mountain KOA and had killer after show parties! Good times!
@@butwhy9918 That was over 20 years ago when Panic Fam was still a small tight knit group. I had friends that worked for the band so we always had good tickets. I remember that run specifically because I was heavily dosed and had a profound experience during the Saturday show. 98-01 were the magic years but 2000 was riding the release of Til The Medicine Takes and the band blew up after that. Back then there wasn't a lot of heat on the lot and super fan syndrome hadn't struck yet. I think most tickets were around $45 and the star curtain was still in use. Jimmy's awesome but Mikey made us fly.
I saw them play my first WSP show in Keystone in 2000 they took over Summit County and Colorado and the fan base and Colorado music scene would always hold a great big slice of sweet Panic pie forever after
I grew up listening to phish and the dead in the 90s. Had 1 or 2 WSP cds and saw them once, but never really got it. Somehow it took all this time for it to click, but man, what I would give to have gotten on the train earlier. Incredible
I cant belue6ive been listening to this since 1991, my freshman year at Auburn University! Seen well over 75 shows. And every single one was the best shoe ive ever seen until you see the next one!!!!
War eagle!! My freshman year at Auburn, I arrived not much into music. Met new friends who introduced me to the jam scene. 26 years later and about 200 Phish, Panic, and the various incarnations of the Dead shows later, this is still one of my favorite live releases. Dave Schools played at the Supper Club my junior year, don't remember what band he was with. All the jamband cover bands played the Supper Club at least a couple of times a year. Good times!
Great time to see WSP. I remember those days in the mid and late 90’s. I’m not saying it was better, but just different in a good way. The band was on point that night. The great nights were epic and the good night were great!
Wondering... If you hear this jam then you will be hooked on wsp forever ♾️❤️♾️. 91 jam had me hooked on live music. Wow is all I got. I'm still dancing.. By far one of the GREATEST LIVE BANDS EVER. 🎉🎉🎉 Party on Saturday night for sure
This particular OM run was like the shot heard round the South? I remembering hearing, “Did you hear what WSP did to Pelham, Alabama last weekend?’ I quickly found the bootlegs of the weekend and agreed with the hype. My first opportunity at seeing a band at OM was Phish a few years after this. Lol…OM/phish was like a 12 hour party in a sprint. Since this weekend and phish/OM, I try and never miss a good band performing at this Launching Pad.
Rarefied air, for sure! In addition to all of the great Panic runs at Oak, I've seen: Clapton, Petty, Bonnie, Paul Simon, Little Feat, Phish, many Allman Bros runs, and others. Best part is, I only have about 10 miles to drive to get home!
Awesome show.. I was there taping dfc... if my memory serves me right this was the occasion me and Mikey had a big laugh backstage... every band member had a group of friends surrounding them carrying on some fun fellowship... I asked Mikey about his choice of guitars as I am a guitarist as well and I told him that I had been playing since 1979 but I didn't know how to play any Panic though.... he laughed and said "he didn't either"... we just fell out to laughing everyone was about to roll on the stage floor laughing it was so funny... he sure was a character 😁
So simple, yet so transcendentally special. This band was on an astral plain at this time. Man, they were phenomenal on their good nights. Rest in peace Michael Hauser. Thank you for this clip. It shows the magic that Widespread Panic possessed when all the cylinders were firing.
The lead guitarist (rip) sounds so good yet keeps it so simple. Basic pentatonic riffs. I think Musicians forget that the point is to sound good, not impress your musician buddies. Now that Jimmy has taken over the lead guitar position he is light years ahead of homie in knowledge and ability and although he is one of my favorite guitarists and is infinitly creative when improvising, I prefer widespread older stuff

Magical times for sure and hard to put into words. Impossible. It would take me a couple of days to come down from one of these shows. Sadly, the window was closing and we didn''t even know it. Widespread Panic loved playing at Oak Mtn (called it their "home stadium") but got banned from the venue because of some bad actors at the Holiday Inn Express, also a few suicides that occurred. I guess the City of Pelham thought it was the band's fault.

And people have actually asked me why I loved doing WSP tours back in the day.........
Goodpeople, original Panic and a lingering lead nothing better!. No cell phones either only positive vibrations 🎶
