One of the best nights of my life. Been to dozens of WSP shows, but this one was special. Me and all my high school buddies on our last show before we all moved off and kinda went separate ways. Awesome night
This was a magical time and I can honestly say the shows at Oak Mtn around this time frame changed my life forever. Caught the Allman Brothers Band, Phish, and Widespread three straight at one point. Haven't been the same since.
It's like having the greatest day while fishing. Then it's hard to compare anything to it but you can't stop. We'll be seeing Panic for the first time next October here in Wisconsin. They shut the block in Milwaukee down for 3 days. Gonna be great, hope it doesn't snow!
1st show was '95 & for years this was probably my favorite 3 night run (all OM shows were great tho). Then OM '02 happened. 10,000 strong bidding farewell to a friend. A shy, anxiety ridden guitar player who started a band with a couple of dudes. That band would ultimately not only reach success few do, but they would bring together a melting pot of fans who formed into a community of family. That three nights brought that family together for one last rager. One last weekend for the lingering lead to bless us with what brought us together. All 3 nights were basically flawless & if you were there no details necessary. The encore, specifically "trouble", remains my favorite moment I've shared with the boys after 25+ years. Damn we miss you Mikey
yes beautifully said!! sooo wish i could’ve been there. saw many shows in the mid 90,s missed out after 99 when my daughter was born. favorite band of all time, played them over and over and over again, couldn’t get enough.
WHAT A GREAT WEEKEND!! I was so young!! MY GOD HOW TIME FLIES!! BEAUTIFUL place btw! Ill never forget sitting in this little cafe in Athens GA with my folks and ol SCHOOLS walking in!! Said hi and that was it. All I needed at the time :D
0:00 The Waker🔥 10:11 Space Wrangler 🔥 22:50 Low Rider 36:04 Blue Indian 42:07 F*** Truck > Drums 1:04:30 Tears of a Woman 1:09:40 Sleeping Man 1:15:41 Greta 1:26:05 Fishwater E 1:37:19 Papa Legba 1:44:45 Red Beans ['The Nutcracker Suite' tease by JoJo during 'Sleeping Man']
First show in 99 and somewhere a little under 100 now, imo and biased of course, early 00s were the best. As a young free college kid it was life changing for me and my friends. Killer Fishwater here, I wasn’t able to make it but had friends there. FW was my first song ever and I’m from eastern NC so it just lights me up. Great vid!
I first discovered WP on pbs programme in 2014 while living in SE Wisconsin at age 53, saw the set twice. Circumstances forced me to move to Omaha, NE., a different world. There i decided to go to music store downtown and ask proprietor to hook me up with what he thought the best WS cd was and sell it to me. Wrangler. Played it every day, perfect fit in cowboy/farmer land. Then i went to their public library one day, started lookin their cds and found WS 3 disc live bootleg from Johnson City and phew! 2 of the cds are absolutely magnificent, better than any other recordings including this by far. The 3rd cd is crap but the first 2…..oh man. I bought it off of em, PRICELESS. The memories of driving 500 miles from Omaha to Wi. in the middle of the night with WS jammin will be with me to my grave. Should i post it on you tube? 100 likes and ill do it if it doesnt offend anyone. It is the BEST, way more ALIVE than this good show here
Was there as well, is the show they put DVD. Saw JoJo a few times in junior high w my older sisters in Oxford. Schools with the OleMiss swag, Go Rebs and JoJo. 😎🤙🏈
I believe I read that one of Dave's influences was Chris Squire. I just recently noticed how you can really hear it sometimes. He can be very aggressive, as was Chris. Dave has his own style, and he's vastly underrated, but he's every bit as good as some of the greatest bassists that have graced the stages.
i have always felt he has had some of the greatest bass line runs i’ve heard….from a uniqueness and style standpoint. he’s basically 50/50 half the time he’s doing solo guitar work on the bass and the other half he dips back into the actual bass lines of the songs. absolutely love what he comes up with!! and i agree i haven’t seen enough credit given to him!!! His creative runs alone in most of their songs adds that extra dynamic that’s special. he’s my fave by far :)
Widespread panic this is baby bird checking in Christopher I've yet to see y'all presently and this reincarnation but 2021 here I come going on tour I love you all Low Rider🙏🔥💜🔥👐

Truth. Oak Mountain was vibrating that night!!!
This comment made my night!
I live in Colorado. We would get 3 nights at Red Rocks and 2 mountain shows. After Mikey died, I quit going to shows.

That's a legendary lineup right there.

Just a great old familiar sound. That dang Wrangler jam is peak WSP! Yessss!!
I cut my teeth on 96 - 2001 panic and I love the boys with Jimmy but nothing compares to this era of Panic. Nothing
Man... we really had it good back then didn't we?

if memory serves where did you read that?
100% dude, he's his own breed and he surely brings the ruckus and he's ours
