cannot love this video enough. my grandson sometimes helps me quilt. I showed him how to make a bean bag and such. he asked not long ago while I was making a quilt for one of my daughters if men could quilt also. I told him "yes, of course they can." now, I can show him. THANK YOU.

Well done Dale! I was inspired to sew by my grandfather. He was born in Czechoslovakia. He went to school to in Austria to become a tailor. It was that or stay and work in the field on his fathers potato farm. He immigrated here in 1918. He was a tailor at the U S Naval Academy for 40 years. I started making/sewing my own clothes when I was 13. I am a retired federal employee. I volunteer by making quilts, pillow cases and tote bags for “Quilts for Kids”.

Lovely to see these guys getting as much enjoyment out of quilting as women. It's an art form, it's a craft, it's a way of showing love to someone, and none of those things are unique to the female of the species. Great video, hope it's encouraged many more men to try their hand at quilting.

How exciting! You rarely meet quilt persons in Germany, and even more rarely they happen to be male. I startet quilting about 10 months ago, and I made the same experience as mentioned in the video: „Is that knitting? - - So why would one cut apart fabric, only to put it back together; wouldn’t it be easier, if you left the fabric in one piece?“ 😂 The more different types of quilters there are in the world, the more various quilts will come into the world, which make it brighter, more colorful and happier.
Greetings to all men and women quilting from Germany

The British gentleman at the end said it best, for me. I like the process of thinking about the person I want to make a gift for, choosing the best pattern and fabrics and thinking about them while I create...and hopefylly, they get some pleasure out of it in the end. 😄
I am a woman, but was inspired to quilt, and even received three bags of scraps and fabrics from my aunt's late husband, who quilted for many years.
Thank you, Uncle Buster. 😁 Lilly

I started sewing somewhere around 1980 on and off , I have been sewing a lot more about for the last 18 years making stuffed animals, clown costumes, shopping bags and quilts, I am now learning how to do more than just straight lines. I recently got an embroidery/sewing machine and have a big collection of threads for more projects.

Great video….. Male quilter here and it's finally nice to hear from other guys that find the creativity and giving to others a new high. I've been into art all my life and thought fabric would be a new medium and learning experience as well as a way to get out of my comfort zone. It's proven to be one of the most rewarding and memorable hobbies possible.

Awesome! I recently did angel duty at our state show and a young man was walking by and decided to check it out. He was blown away by the freedom of our craft. I told him about the famous male quilters, the male tentmakers and how more guys are taking it up and just how darn good they are at it. It was a great chat. I don’t think he was intimidated by it being a mainly female craft (at the moment). Happy quilting! Hello from Australia.

Hi all , I learned to sew in the 80's mostly tailoring though since doing this course have done very little due to now being disabled. Watching this video has encouraged me to get out my machine and make something again. So wanted to say many thanks to the guys here who told a little about themselves and how quilting came into their lives. Kind regards Paul from London UK ps I have subscribed to the channel in the hope someday I will have a quilt to show you.

Well it’s about time! This video was long over due. Well done! Hope to hear more from them on their projects. It broke my heart to read about the woman that wanted to compromise your fabric line. I pray that was resolved in your favor. Yes, quilting is fun and good for the soul. It is a personal journey, so I say kick back and enjoy the trip!
May your seams alway line up,

I have been sewing and quilting for the last 60 years. I have been blessed to teach some men to quilt and it has been a joy. Since I'm so old they sweetly call me Gma. At one point I lived in a university community and a student surgeon was having trouble with his stitching. He asked me to teach him how to sew. We decided on quilting and he became very skilled with his quilts and in his profession. Had the honor of helping loved ones make panels for the aids quilts. I take my machine every where and sew any where. Bless you all and many happy hours of happy quilting.

GREAT VIDEO!!! I didn’t realize that so many men were interested. I wish more were. Have you “met” the “Marine Quilter” yet? Look him up, he was the first man I found on RUclips.
So a man will say, “Oh you make quilts, my Grandma did too.” I think duh what else is new. Then invariably they ask, tell me about your quilt. When I get so excited trying to explain what I’m working on, their eyes glaze over and it’s downhill from there. I guess they will learn that they shouldn’t have asked!
Thank you! Really like your videos, even your intro’s - a good smile or laugh never hurts anyone.

Checked my lap, folds in quilt, on the floor, nowhere to be found. Two weeks later found it across the room on the floor. It's a mystery.

Love your videos and thanks for taking your time to make them. . I am a quilter and have collected 1800s and 1930s quilt fabric for the past 25 years..As you might imagine.I have more than my "legal limit" of fabric from these time periods. I also have some quilts and textile pieces. I am 71 years and have a serious illness called MAST Cell disease that has effected my stamina, muscle strength as well as having double/blurred vision. So long story short, I need to sell my collection. I am unable to sell the fabric, quilts one piece at a time and so, I am interested in selling lots of fabric for a wholesale price. I am working on a quilt that is of the Vogue magazine cover from the winter of 1919. The model for the cover is wearing a black cape and is blown open to show the lining of the cape is a patchwork design. I fell in love with The Vogue Lady the first time I saw her and knew that I had to reproduce that magazine cover in cloth. I am 95# done with the top and am hoping to get the top completed while I have some vision and dexterity left. If not, that top will be up for sale as well. My step son is coming out later this month to help be sort thru things and take some pictures. I want to ask you to share my situation and contact information with any persons who would be interested in purchasing all or a large lot of my vintage and antique fabric. It could be sold at a wholesale price, knowing the the buyer would need to make a profit by selling on ebay or trade shows or internet site. I do thank you in advance for any help that you could offer to get the word out. My email address is jsomers@bellsouth.net, Jo Ann Somers, AKA Atlantaquilter. Hope you have a good day and that I hear from you soon. Jo Ann

if someone can get hold of a medium and make it into a thing of beauty there should be no stigma attached to it. be it a woman doing construction or a man constructing a quilt. in my eyes there is no difference. a thing of beauty is just that no matter whose hands made it. quilting knitting and crochet are very much considered a woman's thing. this is wrong. if you have the talent to do it and do it well in you own eyes and get enjoyment from it GO FOR IT. Thank you Dale for making the video and i hope many many people see it and get them picking up some fabric or yarn and give it ago. x

Quilting goes far back as ancient Egypt. It was originally a man's skill. In Middle ages it was men making gambeson armor, another form of Quilting. All these white old women at quilt shops thinking it's they're grandma's creation looking at me with frustration, wondering what's this guy doing in a quilt shop is entertaining...
