This video is honestly a perfect example of the butterfly effect, as the single act of Toadsworth asking for MORE FREAKIN’ ORANGE PAINT created one of the most influential characters in SMG4 history, making literally all of the arcs possible.

...the Waluigi arc could have still happened perfectly fine even if Meggy didn't exist, it's really Boopkins (and of course Waluigi himself) who initiated that, Meggy had basically nothing to do with the arc at the start and didn't appear until Mario and the T-pose virus, which was really the third episode because, even though it's not in the playlist, the real beginning of the story arc was Stupid Mario Tennis Aces. She had no influence in the Arc's beginning, she simply became a part of it after it had already started.
Evolution of Meggy:
2017 (first appearance): Was an inkling. Simply a side character that appeared occasionally/sometimes.
2018: Was an inkling still. Started to become more important in SMG4's videos. Also met Saiko and Tari. She gets into a rivalry with Desti.
2019: Became a human in the middle of the year (ending of anime arc). Also had PTSD from Desti's death. Became even more important. Still spoke inkling.
2020: Wins the splatfest. She now has a house and a job (police officer). At the ending of the youtube arc, she gets human voice clips.
2021: She stars in her own series on GLITCH.

Let’s be honest, this episode was the shift that lead to the SMG4 that we all know today. If this episode never happened, who knows what would’ve happened.
I'll be honest -- Luke probably would have burned out and stopped making videos. He had already moved away from the youtuber Mario recolors and there wasn't much left he could do with the SM64+ cast. Luke said himself he was growing up and wanted to try different things. He NEEDED something that would keep him motivated. They lucked out with Meggy. Kevin said NOTHING about Meggy was planned -- she just _happened._ The best kind of character!

SMG4 starting becoming more plot focused around the time he starting getting more popular (Meggy introduction and the arcs) and thus he thinks that people liked it more, hence the change in directions.

Your first statement isn't completely false. I was and old fan yes, however, I do somewhat support SMG4 even today. Whenever I speak my mind about SMG4, I can usually be pretty harsh with my criticism at times, even insulting them. (I shouldn't)

• Used Mostly SM64 assets and levels whilst using gmod sparingly and only for things impossible/really hard to do/make in Super Mario 64 (usually it was like the characters were done in SM64 while the environments were Gmod maps or vice versa)

• Did what he thought was funny
• Was Episodic
• Was mostly comedic with occasional villains (like smg3 or black star)

Exactly 6 years ago (as of my typing this), SMG4 Team decided to expand their horizons a bit by trying an episode with story structure and some actual animation… in so doing they created a very special girl who gave unexpected depth to our favorite dumbass plumber and then to the whole cast, including those who came after, while enduring a lot of grief.
Happy 6th Anniversary and 21st birthday to woomy girl Meggy Spletzer! 🧡 I for one am glad she exists.

Five long years have passed, and our favorite former Splatoon rep of SMG4 is still standing. It's hard to believe that Meggy has come so far. Going from an inkling to a human, meggy's definitely evolved throughout the years as one of SMG4's most beloved characters, if not nearly the #1 best. Meggy has definitely gone through a lot of character development, from losing plenty of things spanning from hundreds of splatfests to a rival turned friend. Its insane how SMG4 wrote her like a fuckin book from front to back. Keep going, meggy! Here's to another five years!
I wish it never happenned. SMG4 was mich better when it didn't have all these annoying OCs that just server as ads for GLITCH series. Back when we had Steve's "Hi Guys!!!!!", Cooking With Bowser and Mario... those were the days man

I literally just discovered this series yesterday and watched the anime arc and was curious as to how far back this goes and my... This series has some history. I love how fun and goofy the writing is for this series. Though it's packed with random moments and wacky content, there is still a story being told that can teach morals.

It' incredible to see just how much Meggy has changed since this video, and I don't say that lightly. Between all the changes she experienced, internally and externally, she is truly one of my favorite characters. Less than a day remains until "Meggy's Destiny" as of typing this comment, and I couldn't be more excited to see the climax of her character.

This brings back so much nostalgia! Splatoon is such a fun game and was so happy SMG4 made a splatoon vid! Meggy is awesome! Even though I still miss her inkling form, she’s still one of my favorite SMG4 characters!

I was thinking the same thing when I saw this yesterday. I was bracing myself for the inklings to be horrendous but SMG4 Outdid himself for all the inklings.

Well yes you're right, but he still had to pose/animate them. Much of the time he intentionally makes the animation really wonky for comedic effect, but this time the Inklings facial movement was actually really good in comparison.
