Spirit was a complete badass in the cartoon he went toe to toe with Storm Shadow.

I played Spirit as Rambo. I attached Sergeant Slaughter arms on him witha Rock 'N Roll machine gun belt chestplate and equip him with an M-60, Storm Shadow's bow and arrow, and Falcon's backpack with the knife on the side.
It was your worst nightmare.

@@ghostbusterguy20011, negative. I ran off and joined the Army and when I came back I found out my evil stepmother sold all my action figures (Star Wars, G.I.JOE, Transformers) inna garage sale. I have a few action figures and vehicles that were made back then but I bought them as an adult outta nostalgia.

1:32 that re issue action figure has clearly been modeled after 'Billy' from the original Predator movie with Schwarzenegger. He's even got a Remington 870 mounted under his M16 & he's a "tracker"....
I can't help but notice the similarities between Spirit and Billy from Predator.

Yeah I noticed that too.I think that was intentional because that action figure probably came out around the time of the first Predator movie.

Exactly! When it should've been Snake Eyes VS Storm Shadow, or at the very least Quick Kick.
Dale Bagwell , remember in the cartoon , they used to disrespect Storm Shadow and let fighter like Spirit or Quick Kick beat up on Storm Shadow , knowing that they were not skilled enough to defeat him like that
I don't think Storm Shadow had any beef with Spirit.If any thing Storm Shadow had respect for him.Even though they were enemies.During the Revenge of Cobra miniseries Spirit actually saves Storm Shadows life and Storm Shadow ends up returning the favor.In another episode Storm Shadow saves a captured Spirit from an unauthorized execution by the Dreadnaughts.Telling him he was a worthy opponent and did not deserve to be treated that way.
I think it was a bit of displacement. The rivalry is definitely Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow. But since Snake Eyes is mute and there needed to be dialog between rivals, it was transferred to Spirit.
It's because they both valued Honorable Combat through Cultural values. Without Native Americans the US wouldn't have even had Special Forces tbh.

Maurice LeMarche was the voice for Serpentor only in the DIC cartoon. Dick Gautier did the voice for Serpentor in the old Sunbow Entertainment version.
I always have Spirit on my special team led by Lt. Falcon
Spirt was actually supposed to be the Americans answer to storm shadow. But snake eyes became so big it never went that direction.
In the cartoon, Spirit had a rivalry with Storm Shadow. I guess it was because Snake Eyes couldn't talk.

At 1:33 the " Sprit AKA Charley Iron Knife" looked less like GI Joe's Sprit and more like Billy Sole from Predator. Right down the vest and machete he uses to stand off with the Predator. Is that their way of hinting that Predator was really the first GI Joe movie or was it just a very lazy and Unimaginative sculpting artist? What year is that figure from? I've never seen that one before.

I loved spirit's toy. I got my first experience with spirit from the cartoon so he was not as interesting as the comic.
It always irked me whenever he was pitted against Storm Shadow, when the Joes had their own ninja; talk about a mismatch! They should've pitted him against Zartan.
