I'm glad you liked it. The song tends to explain Australia in history but also in attitude. It's not about how much money someone has or the position they hold, it's about if they are nice and how much they care (along with their courage to try and passion to achieve).
@@alyciasmith1964 Bullshit! One is a pop song, written overseas, by a foreigner. Yes, John Farnham sang it very well. But the other (" I Am Australian"), is a genuine, sincere & heartfelt salute & homage to Australia, its history & its people. How could you possibly think that one is in the same class as the other?
The Seekers formed in 1962 broke up in 1968 reformed in 1993 until Judith's passing in 2022 their final song together was called Carry Me played at Judith's memorial .The guy with the guitar is Bruce Woodley who co-wrote this song in 1988 with Dobe Newton of the Bushwackers
Thank you so much for your reaction. I am an Australian citizen who believes that this song should be my country's national anthem. Your reaction explains clearly why this should be the case. Thanks again!
An Aussie group from the 1960's. The epitome of good taste, which some claim is a subjective, relative value. I'd like your ears to challenge that. This ain't no modern era logic where bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter. Not so with these guys. A special group of artists, in a special, time, from a special place; my country, our Australia. P.S. Integrate, be special and love your fellow Aussies.
The song was written by Judith Durham, the lady who was doing the singing. She just believed in this country so much, she had to put it into words. We love the band and we miss her❤. RIP beautiful lady. 😢
It is a beautiful song, and I am glad you interpreted it just as it should be. The beautiful lady singing had actually had a stroke the day before this performance, but insisted on leaving hospital so she could participate. I am so lucky and so proud to be Australian.
