A few points to note relating to FD-8 in this video
1. Replacement Part No: C6200053R1
Roland Actuator for FD-6/7/8, HD-1, TD-1 controller
2. You may be able to insert actuator without removing cable as I did in this video, my main reason was to open to allow viewing for this video
3. You can order part from Roland or your local music shop. I ordered from my local friendly music shop, Andertons Music, but was happy for an excuse to visit.
4. Remember to align the spring, I did this after shot. Only a minor point, but just another pointer.

Hi there, I enjoy your video, I have one of the first Module TD-6 from Roland and can a FD-8 hi-hat controller work with this older Module.
Question. Are or have you ever been able to get the “chick “ sound out of your kit? I’m talking about the sound you get by just lifting and pressing down on the pedal without hitting the pad? Like keeping time with your foot while playing the ride cymbal.

I have the same problem now, can I use a new model of hi hat? Or has to be the same model? FD 8 Roland?
Warning! You assembled the spring in a wrong way. You bent it! It must seat in the "circle" under the pedal moving plate!!

Today I talked to my local service and they said they dont supply the part ! Only the service including the part! It is not acceptable

You need may need a old midi to usb conversion cable. Roland makes one that I use. MK2. I'm using a TD3 from 2004 and it works like any other midi device I plug in
Place the rubber in silicon for 24 hours and it will be good to go.
What cable goes to the fd-8? Is it the one marked HH or the one marked HHC? Thanks
Ernie Should be HHC, which I believe stands for “hi hat close”

Is your pedal capable playing hi-hat splash after the fix?
I replaced this rubber part as explained, but there is no hi-hat splash.
Andrei Cheremskoy Yes, I get closed, open, and the ‘splash’ you reference, which if I understand correctly, I think you mean the half open HH.
Actually, I've meant 'chick' or 'splash' sound that you get from real hi-hat when you press and release the HH pedal.
Andrei Cheremskoy Ah no, never had that. It’s never been that great at pedal action closed HH, it’s there but way too quiet. And never with the splash on quick release.
Exactly, this feature in FD-8 is featureless.
That sound is there but you would have to set the hi hat pad volume to a high level to hear it
I installed a new rubber and now it fires a hair too soon. Very sensitive.
