Cabin in the woods, Black Phone, Child's Play and Critters 2 are my favorite
The Exorcist, Rosemary's Baby, The Shining, Jaws, Alien, all the classics. But when I was a little kid, every Saturday, one of the channels would have tacky monster movies. I LIVED for the times when they played The Day of the Triffids. I think it was my first favorite monster movie.

This was a fantastic movie. Very rewatchable as well, to try and catch all the little details, implications, and connections; because there is little to no fluff or filler: almost everything in this movie is there for a particular reason.

The only thing that didn't impress me was the alien itself. The concept was good but the execution not so much. It looked cheap.

The special effects looked great. The writing was weak and the characters didn't feel real. I know OJ is a horse trainer but I don't know how he became an expert on the creature. I didn't buy "Antlers" walking out to get deliberately eaten at all.
I also thought the creature blowing up because it ate a balloon was unsatisfying. It really could have used an explanation about why there was reason to think it would eat the balloon and why that would hurt it. All in all, it looked really good visually but it dragged.
Really good reaction vid though.
OJ, is very offset and not intune with human emotions because he worked with animals his whole life. He became an expert in how to train wild animals well because, that’s his livelihood. He’s in tune with animals.
If you were to pay attention to the movie you’d understand that antlers had terminal illness, so I’m sure everyone can buy someone wanting to go out on their own terms.
And lastly if you google around you can find the people that created JJ, it’s come to many peoples conclusions that JJ is made up of very thin /cloth like material filled with gas (you see him blow up into gas at the end) which is why he’s able to stay afloat,silent, change shape to distribute gas, and to be able to blow up easily from a giant balloon.
And the reason for him being able to think it was okay to eat the balloon is because he’s an animal with predatory instincts that wants to attack anything with eyes. Em letting the balloon go was a last minute chance to do what she could to calm the threat.
