Matt, I'd like to see your take on Mazda CX-60. With inline 6 (or even hybrid), rear wheel drive or awd with rear bias, most motoring journalists call it Japanese X3. Some even said it is nicer to sit in than in Genesis, as you mentioned it in this video. But so far I haven't seen a video with brutal practicality honesty as you do.... I would test-drive both, if I were you. The front-wheel-drive-based BMWs handle completely differently from the rear-wheel-drive-based models like the X3.
I have the exact same car. and yes indeed the electrical side is not the most successful. on the other hand, it is so much more pleasant to drive than these competitors! and there are still real buttons and a real old-fashioned interior which I particularly like
Very good car! Its cockpit is for sure better than the newer BMWs. More driver focused. The new design with huge screens and no gear shift is not as driver focused as this.
Would love to see how it drives compared to a Stelvio and a Macan. I'd never buy an SUV but I'd like to see the mechanical differences between them, supposedly they are the three ones with the best handling
@@v12-s65 As an hardcore Alfa Romeo fan and Giulia lover I'd personally take the Stelvio, no doubt, if I was forced to drive an SUV. However the new X3 is based on the BMW G20, which is a project I respect a lot, and the Macan has the PDK and well it's just a 2013 MLB platform car, but somehow it feels like it isn't. So I'm just curious about seeing them underneath, what technical solutions they adopted.
I must be one of the luck few, because I just took delivery of my X3 M40i last month, and it's the most comfy car I've ever owned when driving in Comfort mode and on the 19" wheels. I was pleasantly surprised since most of the review videos I've seen said that the drive in these was jarring at best. Maybe it's a brand new car with a new suspension. But this car is more comfortable than my BMW 5 Series sedan and even my V6 Toyota from before.
Drive a real X3M. Those have a brutal suspension. The M40i isn't bad at all. I definitely don't think its better than a 5 though ( I have the 20's without runflats). Coming from an M550 with the adaptive suspension and 4WS, that rode way better (also 20's without runflats).
@@purwantiallan5089 Not sure why you have to keep copy-pasting the same thing everywhere. Just like, make your own comment thread. Also, hard disagree... The X3 is a solid choice in the segment.
If I need to get an A-to-B car, I'd rather have the new X1, cheaper and just as spacious. The all screen interior is well integrated and doesn't look nearly as bad as the 3 series and 7 series.
I couldnt imagine buying an X3 at this point. The plug-in hybrid is so expensive that I'd rather just buy a more spacious EV like an Enyaq for the same price. Sure X3s are typically quite nice to drive, but for me fuel prices are really taking the joy out of driving.
2 series active tourer PHEV is a better bet and needs reviewing by Matt. 1.5 litre engine and bigger battery with more power and cheaper and quicker than the X3 PHEV… almost as much boot space as well.
Personally I always thought the x3 looked nicer then the x5, I have a X3 3.0SD Msport and for a "4x4" it handles so well and looks great. Also capable of big BHP...id have a X3 over a x5 any day of the week.
Interesting about the lack of regen braking. Currently driving a 530e and it'll come to a complete stop on level ground, although admittedly not fast enough for proper one-pedal driving.

Traded my F80 M3 in a few years ago for a face-lifted GO1 X3 and they’re genuinely lovely cars. The pre 2017 models were awful but the GO1 was a huge step up then the facelift just topped it off. Picked mine up for £52k and I just couldn’t justify the extra £20k on the X5, it didn’t feel like the huge gap that previously was between the X3 and X5.
With modern BMs the plastics in the cabin are the least of the concerns. It is the plastics elsewhere: wouldn't be surprised if it was produced by 3D printer.
Previous BMW X3 model engines have defective design that leads to permanent engine failure.I would not rely even on newer BMWs past the warranty period. In the past customers have faced engine issues ranging from timing belt to fuel pump low pressure resulting to engine blow outs. BMW dealers are quoting anything in the range of 15k to 20 k for engine replacement with no major recalls on this issue. There is also a class action suite for these defective engines for which BMW was ruled by the courts to compensate the affected customers. Absolutely a lemon of a brand !
Because the GLC is brand new, this x3 has been around 5/6 years. Plus in the uk, a 2l GLC is around £10k more than an X3. It’s definitely not £10,000 better
One of the biggest let downs on this facelift is the idrive. BMW starting selling cars with idrive 8 in summer 2022 (3 series g20 LCI). But this 2023 car comes with idrive 7 (released in 2018). If youve used idrive 6, 7, and 8, you'll know how big of leap forward idrive 8 is. Its like comparing windows xp to windows 10.

I much prefer the cockpit and interiors of the newer BMWs.
@Crispy agreed. Though I never liked the stuck on screen I imagine, like this X3, cars without it will start to look dated very quickly
one car that isnt ugly
I have an idea! Make a video with all those plug-in-hybrids in only electric mode to see their range in the real world!
I have this bmw in blue. Love looking at it everyday!
Would love to see how it drives compared to a Stelvio and a Macan. I'd never buy an SUV but I'd like to see the mechanical differences between them, supposedly they are the three ones with the best handling
macan and stelvio far better
Wish I could afford the m40 perfect between daily and power
which gen 5 series though?
@@akmalnajmi6679 Good question. I had an E39 LCI 540i M-Sport and G30 LCI M550, both on regular tires. He could be comparing it to an M5 on runflats.
The Market has Spoken SUV's Slay All Other Body Types 👊
Yep. This car still 5/10 tho.
I think we all can agree that Carwow makes the best car reviews.
I approve thism
I couldnt imagine buying an X3 at this point. The plug-in hybrid is so expensive that I'd rather just buy a more spacious EV like an Enyaq for the same price. Sure X3s are typically quite nice to drive, but for me fuel prices are really taking the joy out of driving.
Are you really comparing a Skoda with a BMW? xD
@@trentox6713 Skoda Felicia and BMW X3 are both underrated.
where the money from????
@@purwantiallan5089you rated the X3 only 5/10 in several other posts to this video 😂
2 series active tourer PHEV is a better bet and needs reviewing by Matt. 1.5 litre engine and bigger battery with more power and cheaper and quicker than the X3 PHEV… almost as much boot space as well.
Matt when are we going to see the LCI M40i review⁉️ we bought it brand new 6 months ago and I have been waiting for your review!
The infotainment actually looked like it was super glued on.
Personally I always thought the x3 looked nicer then the x5, I have a X3 3.0SD Msport and for a "4x4" it handles so well and looks great. Also capable of big BHP...id have a X3 over a x5 any day of the week.
same. drove both, chose X3
12:57 the Defender coming back🔥
Love your work, Mat.
Wow a new BMW that doesnt look awful :)
Should’ve reviewed the X3M or atleast the X3 M40i
Yeah that would have been cool, but I guess most people who buy these get the 4 cylinder models.
This X3 is nice looking.
Definitely wanting for the new C63s,M4 competition and RS5 drag race😭
Me too!
What about Porsche 930 vs C63S vs M4 Competition vs Dodge Viper RT/10?
@@purwantiallan5089 try getting that in the UK
it is by far the best looking car in the segment, at least for me
Interesting about the lack of regen braking. Currently driving a 530e and it'll come to a complete stop on level ground, although admittedly not fast enough for proper one-pedal driving.
ApurtureSci, have u seen clips from F1 2020 UNSEEN yet? Its in my RUclips channel. One clip featuring Nijigasaki, D4DJ and Bang Dream singing Ryoran Victory Road during Bushiroad Rock Festival 2023. 👍 These unseen clips are based from the best F1 Codemasters game, F1 2020.

It could just be the Idrive settings, You can turn off regen.
YOUR BIGGEST KENYAN FAN RIGHT HERE, 12/06/2023
Its on a different platform, so not coming close to X5.
I had an iX3 for 10 days, and have to say by the end of it i loved it. The range wasn't mindblowing, but if you could charge it at home it'd be fine.
Mat is definitely a trend aficionado when he calls things old-fashioned, which he does occasionally when describing some features (like USB 2.0) 😂.
Yep. Seems like its classic.
The best BMW is never a SUV. It`s ALWAYS the 5 series at any given time. And has always been.
Nice Design ❤
And also cool.
@@purwantiallan5089 yes
With modern BMs the plastics in the cabin are the least of the concerns. It is the plastics elsewhere: wouldn't be surprised if it was produced by 3D printer.
I saw in X3M on the road the other day. One of the few good looking bmws made right now
Have the new Rs6 performance variants arrived in the UK?
RS6 Performance not arrived in UK yet. Maybe in few more months.
The performance IS available... 👆 this guy/bot is talking shit again..
What's next Budget X7?😂
X6i Concept?
My fiance just bought one. We love it!
Fuiyoh ! nice car 🚗
The number of times you say "click the popup banner up there or follow the link in the description below" is amazing😂😂
It’s a nice SUV but doesn’t really seem to compete with the new GLC
GLC300 and Nissan Pickup are better than X3.
Because the GLC is brand new, this x3 has been around 5/6 years. Plus in the uk, a 2l GLC is around £10k more than an X3. It’s definitely not £10,000 better
Lexus NX, much better choice and it won't let you down.
The interior in incredibly boring
I've had 5.8 0-60 out of our X3 using dragy. A tip don't use the launch control

It is a best looking car in its segment...
just shock with very low electric rage i use diesel trim the annoying things is turn circle very wide thank you Matt for nice review as always.
Definitely the X5 is better than this X3! But I love the X3!

A mid face lift is not good enough whilst all the other models get an upgraded infotainment systems not money worth at all.
Wow, a review on a sunny day!
Have had an iX3 for a couple of months, changed from a 6 cylinder G31. The iX3 is a quiet box for getting from A to B that’s about it, vanilla.
BMW is the only brand that would make me consider buying an suv
Looks better than actual new M cars 😂
