Before Avengers (2012). This was the biggest movie to have an invading alien army in the middle of a major American city where the good guys and bad guys fight out in the streets. With a sky beam.
I was absolutely saddened and terrified that Sentinel Prime had betrayed the Autobots. You can feel how mad this made Optimus during the final battle. Also, “Who would you be without me, Prime?” “Time to find out.” That’s gotta be the most savage line Optimus has ever said, and Cullen’s delivery was stone cold.
It doesn't help that Sentinel Prime was the Prime before Optimus: the one that coasted through the Golden Age and allowed things to deteriorate, and lost the Matrix of Leadership shortly after becoming Prime (if he ever had it at all).
I like the scene that optimus speak to sentinel 'you didn't betray me, you betray yourself'. Sentinel used to said that freedom is everyone's right, what he betray is not optimus but his oath.
“A prime lives by 1 rule, never destroy a planet with life” Jetfire in Egypt TF2. So Optimus had to kill Sentinel because he betrayed the rule of the primes. “You picked the wrong planet! GIVE ME YOUR FACE!!” Optimus Prime is 100% about keeping that rule
43:00 In the novelization, Optimus is stated to have been in a meeting with the President. Additionally, this film is a live action adaptation of the cartoon episodes "Megatrons Masterplan" where Megatron uses humans to betray and send away the Autobots into a ship rigged to launch into the sun, and "Ultimate Doom" where they bring Cybertron to Earths orbit for the same reasons in this movie. Also, when Sentinel refers to themselves as gods, he means the Primes.
Remember, there is at least 500 million years between the First Primes deaths and the first appearance of Optimus Prime, and their rules lasted at least a billion years, since Primus is not remembered at all by the time Optimus appears. Enough time for those Primes to be seen as myths that may or may not have existed, which is about the half way point of that massive time scale. Of those ancient Cybertronian figures, only Unicron is fully remembered of them all, down to the tiniest detail of his physical appearance, and this is both his robot and planet modes, because of the the threat he poses.@@TheInsaneRazor123
I liked Dark of the Moon much better than the second film. It’s the definition of pure dumb fun and that third act is pretty sick. Also, Jerry Wang was hilarious in my opinion. I don’t know why, but he’s just one of those weird and over the top characters that I can’t help but get a laugh out of me.
I agree, while the Third film has problems like with all of the other Transformers installments released after the first film, I personally think _Dark of the Moon_ was a better film than _Revenge of the Fallen_ due to the action and the incredible 3rd act. Also, I consider this to be the true finale of the Transformers Trilogy and pretend the other films after _Dark of the Moon_ never happened.
@whitenoisereacts When Sentinel kept saying that they were considered "Gods" on Cybertron and now they're only considered "machines" on the planet Earth, he's taking it like an insult. Near the end fight between Optimus and Sentinel, he said "We were once Gods once. All of us!" The backstory outside of the bayverse(which is Michael Bay's trilogy or take on the whole back storyline of Transformers), there are 7 "Primes", they were the first 7(5 we don't know of, 2 of them being Prima and The Fallen, introduced back in ROTF) who were considered Gods because they had godlike abilities and infuential statuts within the Cybertron days. You could think of them as Presidents or World Leaders on Earth. Optimus "Prime" and Sentinel "Prime" are descendants from those 7, who had immense leadership skills, fighting for a right cause, and could easily influent others to fight for whats good. So, when you said "You were never Gods! I don't know what you're saying bro!" at 58:39 , unfortunately, you're wrong. They were considered Gods due to the title of being a "Prime" which isn't the easiest thing to get back on Cybertron, but it meant that you were someone to be held up High. That's why when you betray your own rules and kind(like The Fallen), you are shamed upon by your brothers(which is the other Primes in the matter!) So, if you watch any other Transformers related shows especially "Transformers Prime", they have a more detailed backstory and different verse; Primeverse. It's not the same backstory or trilogy, but it still gives you a detailed prespective of how their society worked. Nothing here is to critiize you, just to enlighten you about it.
Although the third film isn’t perfect I consider _Dark of the Moon_ to be better than _Revenge of the Fallen_ and on par with the first Transformers film. Even it’s impressive that this is Leonard Nimoy voicing Sentinel Prime and his second foray in the Transformers franchise after voicing Galvatron in _Transformers: The Movie_
Everybody missed the Inside Joke when whatshisname is watching Star Trek TOS and says, “Oh I’ve seen this one. This is the one where Spock goes nuts.” Double Meaning: While Leonard’s Spock really did go crazy in that ep, Leonard’s Prime goes crazy too in the film.
A few things about this movie. 1) The movie originally had Megatron leaving Earth with his Decepticons to live on the remnants of Cybertron, however a leak on the comic end spoiled the ending so they had to reshoot the ending. 2) Sentinel Prime was originally going to be Ultra Magnus (who you guessed) but due to the likely fan backlash with the betrayal, they changed it to Sentinel. 3) Optimus and the other Autobots (with the math done by TF Theory) arrived exactly when they normally would have at Chicago, if we take in drive time. They would not have wanted to contact the humans allies and endanger them. 4) the Cybertron in our orbit plot was actually taken from the original cartoon, but they honestly made it easier because the Decepticons dragged it across the universe to appear in Earths orbit, only for an explosion to knock it back to its original starting point
If I had a nickel that everytime Leonard Nimoy appeared in a Transformers movie and voiced the villain of the film, I have two nickels which isn’t a lot but it’s crazy it happened twice.
I think this is probably the best Transformers movie, the action edges this movie over the first one for me. That final act in Chicago was amazing, pure adrenaline and Bayhem.
The original cartoon is NOT the canon, the Transformers franchise isn't just one interaction but many that share some similarities between themselves, but most of the time, each interaction is it's own thing with it's own rules.
Low key the best live action Transformers movie. Fixed a lot of the issues with RotF, which was honestly a terrible movie IMO. Also was AMAZING in 3D IMAX. Will always love this movie. EDIT: Also the final battle did in fact inspire the one in Avengers (and a lot of other movies that did the whole "sky beam/aliens teleporting in from the sky into big city" thing, this was one of the first to do that whole thing). Final battle in particular was a treat in 3D.
I enjoy the moments when the Autobots and the human characters put the nail in the Decepticons’ heads. That includes Sentinel getting his just desserts by Optimus, plus a little help from Megatron.
The Allspark was an original creation for the first film, but has since gone on to become a pillar of the franchise lore. You saw the Matrix in the 86 movie, obviously, and since that film it’s largely been the most important artifact in the entire series overall. And while the pillars may have been a new idea, the Space Bridge concept has been around ever since the first season of the original 80’s cartoon series.
@@mightheal It was sort of name dropped as an abstract concept in Beast Wars (a place where “all sparks” go when they’re extinguished) but it didn’t become a physical artifact until the first movie.
What’s funny is they straight up spoil he’s bad in the beginning. Wheelie (the mini transformer) is watching Star Trek, specifically he says “this is the one where Spock goes nuts.” Leonard Nimoy is Sentinel Prime in this and also Galvatron in the Transformers animated movie.
Idk if anyone else commented this but I wanted to answer your “do they already have a car mode at the start?” question from 35:40. Autobots and Deceptions in the Michael Bay universe/ Bayverse start out as protoforms, which are just the basic form of a transformer, these protoforms can turn into alien versions of sports cars, jets, tanks, planes, etc. When an Autobot or Decepticon scans a vehicle on Earth, they collect the data of the vehicle and make it contribute to the rest of their body. The vehicle also HAS to of course be perfect for the height and width of that transformer. Hope that answers that question👍.
This movie will always have a very special place in my heart not just because I absolutely adored the giant worm decepticon tearing through Chicago but more because we actually got to sing Iridescent in chorus after the movie came out and someone in class suggested it Ending a schoolyear on that song is something I’ll never forget
Just a couple notes while watching the reaction: The reason we don't see the autobots alot in the finale is because they are COMPLETELY outnumbered. The Autobots are trying to stay hidden. The whole idea was to try and use guerilla tactics. Thats the whole reason they even agreed to leaving earth; if they had stayed and fought normally, they wouldve been killed. Pretending to be dead was what let them win. If they came out guns blasting they wouldve been completely destroyed. Imagine trying to deal with Soundwave, Sentinel, Shockwave, Starscream and Driller at the same time. Other notes, they couldve probably tried to fight back earlier but like we saw, Driller got Prime's trailer which is why they had to spend more time looking for it. And as Sentinel says in his first scene, "The pillars defy any sort of physics." And the funny thing is the whole movie is based on a Season 1 G1 episode with the same premise, it follows the source material. Also, as you may have guessed, Sentinel being a villain was in none of the trailers. The idea was to trick people into thinking that shockwave would be the main villain in the trailers. And as for why the decepticons are usually uglier, its actually a thing in the lore where certain groups of cybertronians were mistreated because of their appearance or status, which is one of the big reasons Megatron even started the Decepticon rebellion in the first place. And finally, the robot screentime. I think the next movie has the best ratio in terms of robot screentime, but i dont mind this either. The truth is, even with a high budget, Transformers take ALOT of time. In the newest movie they tried a new CGI studio and it looks significantly worse.
Wheelie kinda spoiled the movie in the beginning with his comment while watching Star Trek "Oh I've seen this one. This is the one where Spock looses it"
Fun fact the reason Optimus didn’t tell sam the plan is because he sensed Decepticon presence the circle thing by his ear moved because that’s a sensor
Yeah so the original ending of this movie had megatron calling a truce and taking the decepticons back to cybertron. They actually used this ending in the novelization of this movie it’s a great read if you’re into books
It's awesome that Sentinel Prime uses a quote that Spock says, "The needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the few." Especially since Leonard Nimoy represents both.
I hope you guys see this comment and mention it in the next transformers video, just because I want to know your thoughts on it; but the original ending was very different, and the final fight was so much cooler. Originally, Optimus, was going to be overpowered by, Sentinel, instead of getting his arm ripped off, and when, Megatron, saves him; they would have fought side by side against, Sentinel. The fight was going to end with, Sentinel, being tripped by a sliding kick from, Megatron; which would cause him to lose his grip on the Cosmic Rush Cannon he used to kill, Ironside, and, Optimus, would have jumped over, Sentinel, and have caught it mid air. Optimus, would then land crouched on one nee, and shoot him square in the crest; where the two of them would have the same dialog as in the final film, but this time, Sentinel, rusts and falls apart instead of, Optimus, killing him when he couldn't fight back. The military would then use jets to destroy the pillar, and Cybertron would simply be sent back to its proper place in the universe instead of imploding itself. Optimus and Megatron, would both feel as though their world was calling to them, and the two would have had a conversation in which, Megatron, genuinely wants a truce; with, Optimus, struggling to believe him, and even getting angry when, Megatron, tells him that the two of them are alike. Megatron, wanting to rule Cybertron because he thought he was right, and, Optimus, opposing him because he thinks that he's right. Optimus, would begin to believe the want for a truce after, Megatron, says that he's tired of the endless war and that destroying has brought him nothing, and so wants himself and the remaining decepticons stand down and return to their home world to repair it themselves; Megatron, hoping that creating for a time would bring him something, and ultimately makes it clear that he doesn't care if, Optimus, believes him or not. Megatron, would then get on his nees and put his hands behind his head, giving, Optimus, the opportunity to kill him with, Sentinel's, gun; telling him that whatever decision he decides to make, to make it quickly. Optimus, would, of course, refuse to kill, Megatron, and accept the truce. After proving that he's not like, Megatron, Optimus, would tell, him, to control his decepticons and hope that they wouldn't kill him for showing weakness. Megatron, would tell him that he will, and that when the time comes and Cybertron is restored; that he would send for, Optimus, and the rest of the autobots, so that they would return home. And the two factions could be one race again, a race of peace. Megatron, would then transform and drive away, with, Optimus, wondering if his former brother could truly change. The rest of the film would end in a similar manner as the version we ended up getting, but with a few further changes. Mainly that of, Sam, and, Bumblebee, sitting back to back and, Bumblebee, spitting out a single ring, wear he would hand it to, Sam, and, Carly. And, Optimus', speech being just a little longer; ending with "I am, Optimus Prime, and I send this message to the universe. We are here, we are home.", giving the trilogy a proper ending. Unfortunately, the reason why the ending was changed; was because when the comic adaptation was previewed on Amazon.com, it showed both the first seven pages and the last seven. This spoiled the ending, and the spoilers quick spread all over the internet. Both, Bay, and Paramount were so pissed off, the ending was changed.
Yea like most of the comments I think this is the best transformers movie. I just think despite the way you guys feel the action in this movie is amazing and I think it’s because most people including my self didn’t mind the humans being heavily involved in the action. Personally I think it makes it better but I also see how it could make it unbearable stemming from your explanations. Love the reaction
These days hasbro has tried to unify the character designs for both the autobots and decepticons to have more consistency. Which is why the live action transformers in the last two movies are more based on their g1 design
I love how you guys actually watch and react as you go while still watching instead of pausing it every 2 seconds and talking for several minutes then hitting play while still talking and missing every major moment then being clueless most of the movie like every other react channel. Finally some good react content 👍
The part where barricade was angrily giving orders to those protoform next to shockwave, in my head it was him being angry at them and himself for getting soundwave killed
3:49 - If you had seen any of the actual episodes of the old show, you'd recognize that this crashed ship is a direct reference to The Ark, the ship the Autobots came to Earth in. It's shape and position match that of the ship in the show, which was crashed into the base of a volcano. 21:33 - Soundwave had many tapes, but only the humanoid ones spoke. Laserbeak (the one here) and Ravage (the jaguar from the last movie) didn't. 35:35 - Like many questions in long-running IPs, it's something that developed over time. The first episode began with all the transformers having cybertronian alt-forms. When the Ark awakened after being buried in a volcano for 3 million years, we saw Teletran 1 send out a probe which scanned Earth vehicles and then reformat the transformers into these new forms. The first time we saw Transformers being 'born' was the Dinobots, which were designed and assembled like regular machines (I linked the episode to you in the Animated Movie comments). Flashbacks in later episodes showed Transformers being created on an assembly line, but no indications of how they got their alt-forms. Transformers: Beast Wars established the existence of 'protoforms,' embryonic Transformers which were kept in stasis pods and awakened after the pod scanned it's surroundings and imprinted a form onto them. We don't really know how it works in the Bay films. 41:31 - Here's the twist: this movie actually took most of it's plot from a first season 3-parter called 'The Ultimate Doom.' 47:58 - Of all the Transformers that got the Bayverse makeover, I think Shockwave took to it the best. 52:53 - They couldn't resist. They HAD to get a Star Trek reference in...
Transformers lore isnt consistent ever. Thats a fact that actually makes thing more interesting for newer instances, because they dont follow an strick agenda, mybe the characters but not plot, devices, relics, etc. The allspak was introduced first time on the first live action movie, and later on it became one oF the instances of the transormers creator god, Primus. In the first iteration of transformers, they were created by... another transformers, which was paradoxical and pretty dumb till they finally explained that they were created as workers and cybertron was a giant fabric, till they rebel to their creators. Now in many iterations now, transformers are born, from cybertron. The start as protoforms, and then develop a bit like a kid and grow up fast when they get their first vehicle mode, which are usually cybetronian machines. They can change back into a proform again, to travel long distances trough space and then scan a vehicle mode on the foreign planet. Much of the lore changes a bit depending on the show or film, or comic.
In the movie franchise, they scanned their Earth vehicle modes. In the original cartoon, they had Cybertronian vehicle modes and the Autobot's ship computer scan earth vehicles to repair and revive the Transformers after crashing on Earth.
17:25 The Allspark _was_ created entirely new for the movies, but functionally served the same purpose as the supercomputer Vector Sigma, in the original cartoon. The Matrix of Leadership from the second movie was also from the original cartoon, but its functionality as the key to a Sun Harvester, as well was the Sun Harvesters themselves were also unique to the movies. In lore, the Matrix is the artifact that grants Optimus his wisdom and the title of Prime. It's the same artifact Optimus hands down to Ultra Magnus and then Hot Rod in the original Transformers: The Movie you guys reacted to previously. The Pillars _are_ unique to the movies, but their functionality is not. They're a new take on the Space Bridge technology from the original cartoon, which has taken many forms across numerous Transformers continuities. The Pillars make the technology somewhat more portable, like thousands of satellites to channel a portal connection. The Macguffins you'll find in the later Transformers movies are also largely unique to the movies, but will reference aspects of the original cartoon lore in one way or another.
They started off in their true form. In the cartoon series you see some of them in their true transformed vehicle. Mostly the flying ones. The pilot to Beast Wars is the first I’ve noticed them scanning their forms.
One thing that I learn a while ago is that shockwave was originally going to be the main antagonist but the producers thought that he wasn't recognizable enough, so bay had to make it megatron again.
Having the name prime is seen as a godly title hence why sentinel says we were gods on cybertron also the bringing cybertron to earth plot was from the g1 series called the ultimate doom
I do wish you would grade or give a movie a score. You're post- comments are always insightful & interesting. But as an audience, without an indicator, it's hard for me to gage where each different movie sits with you. So after watching all 3 reactions in full, I'm still not sure whether you prefer Revenge of the Fallen over Dark of The Moon. But I would like to know 😃
I really enjoyed watching “Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon”😁🔥. It was great to see Sam as he got this new arc to himself where he has to get mature and get a job while balancing out his teenage/adult life with his girlfriend Carly who for me was much better than Megan Fox as her role had more meaning to it. Patrick Dempsey as the antagonist was great as well. Sad to see the way Sentinel Prime turned out to be as he looked like a pretty loyal autobot but then just betrayed himself because he became selfish and just about the survival of his race, as he died. The final battle was good between the Autobots and the Decipticons. RIP Iron Hide🙏. Loved your reaction/analysis, take care, enjoy life, stay healthy and have a good one❤️
The biggest thing I didn’t like about the Bay TF films were how they made Megatron, and by extension, the Cons, push overs after the first movie. Megatron is THE lord and master of the Decepticons for a reason, and only the first film really gave us a sense of that. He doesn’t follow nor is commanded by anyone. And the rest of the Cons sans Starscream, Soundwave, and Lazerbeak were all snarling monsters. Shockwave is supposed to be on par with or even smarter than Megatron himself, and uses cold hard logic for everything. Yet here he’s… A giant monster. Cool design, but with no personality behind it. It’s a good ways away, but I’m really excited for ya’ll to watch Bumblebee, as that film and 07 are the two golden standards for live action Transformers films in my opinion, and Bumblebee reeeeaaally does justice to both the Autobots and the Decepticons especially.
you two young men will never be able to apprehend to feeling of watching Neil Armstrong live on my Grandmas's black and white Motorola TV in the doorway of her kitchen in the summer of 1969.. I was back in Utah visiting my dad for the summer. The images are stil very vivid in my memory. And now thanks to James Webb telescope we know that Saturn has over 130 objects orbiting it, and that all 4 outer planets have some form of ring! Just impossible to grasp the massive leap between.
I love everything and everyone in this film from Patrick Dempsey being a villain to having this studded cast John Malkovich , Frances McDormand is back and killing it, as well as John Turturro, and Alan Tudyk also the cameo with Ken Jeong was awesome. And I enjoyed Rosie Huntington-Whiteley much more than Megan fox as the GF she just fits with the franchise much better in my opinion even though this was her first debut as an actress she is originally a super model so yeah she did a great job I think funny enough her audition for the film didn’t even go well lol!
I fricking love how Megatron saved Optimus life, wanted a truce and Optimus just slaughters him. Then the defenceles unarmed Villain pleades for his life and Optimus just executes him.
So this movie was supposed to be the last bay film the original ending was prime would have had a truce with the decepticons they would have gone away and lived on Cybertron while the autobots stayed on earth however it got changed because Hasbro wanted to milk the bay movies more Wich is how we got 4 and 5 and why bay didn't really have much interest in them since this was supposed to be the final one
In the IDW Comics that are tie ins from 1 to Dark of the Moon (which are cannon by the way), in this case the Defiance and Foundation comics, Ironhide didn't like and was cynical about Sentinel Prime. After the All Spark was founded and set a new age for Cybertron, that went away. It's sad what ended up happening to him. It's also stranger, Optimus Prime, who is extremely and amazingly compassionate, never acknowledged Ironhide's death, who was he closest friend in term of combat and genuine friendship. Same goes with him and Ratchet. This movie also took inspiration from the Transformers G1 episodes, "The Ultimate Doom," and "Megatron's Master Plan." Shockwave was also supposed to be the original super villain for this movie. It makes sense since he is like the only Deception that could overthrow Megatron at full strength. I was also hoping you guys would watch the original ending on RUclips 😢😢😢 Hopefully when you guys get to Rise of the Beast you got to watch the original ending which was made by the studio.
I like how they put the reason for the TV blackout during the moon landing part was so they could complete a secret mission to retrieve an alien artifact.During the actual television broadcast in 1969 there was a blackout for about 3 minutes
This was a step in the right direction for the franchise... bring in more forces, actually have a plot, throw in some conspiracy stuff. Of all the films you can see Bay trying to listen to the criticisms a bit and course correct in this one. Also, you gotta watch some G1... you'd be surprised how accurate the plot in this is to a 3 part story called The Ultimate Doom. (Gee, wonder why Bay liked that one... lol)
@White Noise Reacts, hey James- the lead guy who was calling the at theshots at the shuttle launch is Shia's TV dad from Disney " Even Stevens",if two happen to catch that during the watch?.
I really like that you guys are giving genuine criticism to the movies and point out the live action lore compared to the original lore and also just genuine movie criticisms because there are major issues with plot and continuity.
Newborn Transformers have generic Protoforms that don't really turn into anything yet. Transformers who've been living on Cybertron have Cybertronian forms. On Earth they scan Earth vehicles to gain Earth Modes. Transformers sometimes return to their Protoforms as a reset when switching alt-modes, OR when doing certain things like space travelling. When these Autobots first showed up on Earth they were in their Protoforms due to the space travel.
Ok In my perspective Dark of the moon is the actual ending to transformers while the other two are a alternate ending yes the other 2 don’t make sense but there fun to watch A little spoiler for the next one Sam is dead cuz Optimus gives voice lines indicating it. I say this because in the movie they don’t show it or explain it. Also sorry I just felt like I had to say it to let you guys know bc like I said they don’t explain what happened to Sam except for Optimus voice lines
I was in Chicago in August of 2010 when they were filming the final act of the film. Many of the wingsuit and parachute scenes were actually practical. I happened to see some of the airdrop scenes over Millenium Park from the window of my Condo.
You can kinda see how Michael bay just focused too much on the Human aspect of these movies and not the robots as well as the many continutity errors and plots holes linking all the movies together. gets worse believe it or not lol. Also a few fun facts: Dino, the Red Ferrari, uses Blades as his main weapon. This is because when Ferrari agreed to having a car in the movie, they didnt want it to be associated with guns, so thats why he only gets blades. During the Wing Suit scene into the city, it was actually a live action stunt. They attached a camera to the top of one of the sky divers to chase the wing suiters in the city. When the building falls over, Bay had built a 1.1 replica of the middle section of the skyscraper and put it on a giant hydraulic tilt, so that set actually happened.
I feel like they did Soundwave dirty here, but also a throwback, remember what Optimus said to that asshole agent last movie? He asked what if the autobots left, and the decepticons still stayed on the offensive against humans, and this movie proved him right
What really upsets me about the whole seeing Sam struggle thing is the fact that he saved the world twice and yet no government is willing to give him enough money or privileges to not have to work at all and be able to live the way wants to like they should've. Heck, in the second movie he should've gotten enough money and privileges to not have to work at all and live the way he wants to. I am so tired of the government in these movies acting like they're in control of everything all the time like they're not facing dangers, forces, and/or beings way above them that take control of their devices and/or delife them easily at any time in these movies. I really wish they got rid of the boring/pointless romantic subplot in this movie because it adds nothing of value to the movie.
Laserbeak is name of Soundwaves minion, and Soundwave and Blaster(the autobot version of soundwave) in the cartoon are the only ones with mini cassette bot, drones
The pillars are SORT OF canon. Space bridges are a common enough Transformers thing. They don't usually come in the form of a bunch of pillars or teleport whole planets, but the general function is similar.
Bro. Ironhide's death almost made me leave the movie theater. But, The saddest detail was, That ironhide tried to put his hand in front of Sentinel Primes 3rd and final shot
Dark of the Moon was definitely the best of the Michael Bay movies. Granted the Bumblebee prequel that eventually became a reboot was the best movie in the franchise. You guys definitely need to watch that. I'd recommend you have the girls for it too as its a much better story with a lot of heart, which figures when you consider Michael Bay was not the director. 😂 Either way you should still watch the fourth and fith of the Michael Bay films. They're both decent. A lot of people hate the fith movie but I liked it and personally think it's underrated. That said i think the Rise of the Beasts movie is overrated and just nostalgia bait. But you should watch them all and make up your own mind.
i rlly loved any of the bayverse movies cuz of their action but there r a few things i rlly thought they could've done much better. To me this movie had the most potential than the others. I hv no idea who in the team decided that they should scrap shockwave n make sentinel the big bad. 1) Shockwave in the original lore was clearly a scientist and weapons engineer, they could easily slap him in n make him be the controller of the pillars. 2) Shockwave was not always loyal to megatron, he uses the idea of logic to aid him in his conquest whereas megatron lets his ego get in the way of his plans. If sentinel clearly wanted to do this for his home world and not caring about working with megatron, they could put that characteristic to shockwave and it would work. With that in mind, it would make way more sense for... see 3) 3) Megatron to have a resentment to shockwave of leading the decepticons rather than him, as Shockwave himself is a decepticon. That would make lot more sense for meg to hv a personal conflict with mr one-eyed man. 4) They could also use the fact of shockwave keeping this pillar tech as a last resort to saving cybertron, and keeping it a secret from megatron, who we thought his main motive from the first movie is to chase the all spark to earth, instead of telling us, "Sentinel was ment to rally with me here on earth, and we just need to revive him with prime's matrix". That was a little disappointing. Even if each movie had a new cybertronian relic to save their race, the element of surprise of shockwave pulling the pillars n suggest the idea of enslaving humans to work for em would be fantastic. 5) Coming back to my point of Shockwave's motive of logic, him being the main client of Dylan and deceiving him to work for the decpticons would be infact "Logical". And also getting the humans to exhile the autobots from earth would work too. Honestly this movie was good but it could've been GREAT, cuz it alrdy had an excellent set of transformers in this movie. and with sentinel being out of the picture, it would mean we never hv to see ironhide killed.
The Original Seven Primes, Sentinel, Optimus, and other primes are like the gods of Cybertron. There are millions of auto bots and Decepticons but there no many who are primes they are treated differently cuz there are the good primes and than there are bad primes so each side sees them as gods
in the original script, when megatron said ''all i need a truce'' optimus and megatron declare peace between autobots and decepticons but the script was later changed
To explain Sentinel's whole insistence on being considered Gods, it's because across all the different forms of Transformers, to be considered a "Prime" is a highly coveted title, as though one was equivalent to the Transformers equivalent to Jesus and his Disciples. Just like with Judas, one of the original Primes betrayed everyone else, named Megatronus (you know him as The Fallen from the second Bay movie, and the one Megatron named himself after). If y'all are ones to do shows, I recommend either watching the entire original series, or just Transformers Prime, with the latter being generally considered as the best Transformers show there is in terms of story and characters
The origins of the autobots was they were the workers on Cybertron, and deceptions are military. So the autobots started disguising themselves as vehicles to hid from the decepticons, and after that they also started changing into all sorts of vehicles themselves.
You guys will like Bumblebee movie and Rise of the Beasts. They are using more G1 series design in those movies. Megan Fox got replaced because Spielberg and Bay had issues with her so Bay got a Victoria Secret model that had never acted before and that he filmed in a Victoria Secret commercial to step in. I have never been a fan of Sam in these movies cause of how he acts. One of the reasons he’s not getting jobs is because he can’t say that he saved the world. The other reason is he thinks that he is too good for entry level jobs. 8:33 Bumblebee is a Camaro mainly cause Bay didn’t want him to be a bug in his series because it reminded him of Herbie who was a Volkswagen Beetle. 11:22 if you watch the g1 cartoon series (1984) you’ll see his trailer turn into things. The voice of Starscream in the first three movies is Charlie Adler who voiced some Transformers in the 1984 series. I like how you got a bad feeling from Sentinel Prime. Leonard Nimoy voiced Sentinel in this one and did Galvatron in the animated movie. 31:37 Dino was supposed to be Mirage but when they chose his vehicle mode they changed it to Dino and the deception trio are called the Dreads (Crowbar, Crankcase & Hatchet). 35:38 in the first cartoon series their ship crashed on earth and they were damaged so the ship’s computer sent a probe to scan earth technology to help heal them. 39:37 Sam told Optimus without having to tell him. He told Optimus that no HUMAN would ever hear. Basically telling Optimus that a Decepticon is listening. 48:49 they actually had a precision crew wing suit through like that. One thing about what you said about GM controlling the style of Autobots. Dino was supposed to be the one executed by Bumblebee but Ferrari found out and said no our character will not be killed off. 58:47 the designers designed Sentinel after Sean Connery cause they wanted him to play Sentinel which is why he says “There can be only one” which is a line from the “Highlander” movie which Connery was in.
I am enjoying these Transformers reactions so much! I’m so down for you guys to watch them all, even the standalone Bumblebee movie, if you want Deceptacons with more colour and personality, the Bumblebee movie has it and its so cool! Also Bumblebee is adorable in it!
Sam's girlfriend is actually married to Jason Statham in real life, would be cool to see him turn up in a Transformers movie, unfortunately they go a bit down-hill from here.
Who DO YOU want to direct another Transformers movie?
Guillermo Del Toro, the man behind Pacific Rim!
That's a tough question ngl. I'll let other people decide it since I can't decide LOL 😂

Before Avengers (2012). This was the biggest movie to have an invading alien army in the middle of a major American city where the good guys and bad guys fight out in the streets. With a sky beam.
And they basically copied Transformers’ plot too lol. Another reason I’ll never watch an Avengers movie.

I was absolutely saddened and terrified that Sentinel Prime had betrayed the Autobots. You can feel how mad this made Optimus during the final battle.
Also, “Who would you be without me, Prime?”
“Time to find out.”
That’s gotta be the most savage line Optimus has ever said, and Cullen’s delivery was stone cold.
Shame that bit with Optimus and Megatron wasn't the original, intended thing that happened
Seen you on a bunch of cbl00m's videos bro👍
It doesn't help that Sentinel Prime was the Prime before Optimus: the one that coasted through the Golden Age and allowed things to deteriorate, and lost the Matrix of Leadership shortly after becoming Prime (if he ever had it at all).
“ I’m no longer your teacher Optimus … you are mine. “
Love that line.
Yes, because the original Primes, which the Fallen was, basically were like gods.
@@shauntempley9757 And they did use to rule Cybertron for eons.
@@TheInsaneRazor123 Yes. For at least a billion years. Before the Fallen turned on them all.
@@shauntempley9757 More like a couple million cause it's confirmed Optimus is at least 36 million years old.
RIP Leonard Nimoy.. an amazing concept having him cast as the double agent villain!
@@EChaconis op
I LOVE seeing Optimus go to town on the Decepticons in Chicago.
Same
@whitenoisereacts When Sentinel kept saying that they were considered "Gods" on Cybertron and now they're only considered "machines" on the planet Earth, he's taking it like an insult.
That's why when you betray your own rules and kind(like The Fallen), you are shamed upon by your brothers(which is the other Primes in the matter!)
So, if you watch any other Transformers related shows especially "Transformers Prime", they have a more detailed backstory and different verse; Primeverse.
And much better than the two following these.
L take
Definitely better than rotf, doesn’t come close to og
Leonard Nimoy, 1931-2015, played the voice of Sentinel Prime, and had voiced Galvatron in the Transformers Animated Movie.
Everybody missed the Inside Joke when whatshisname is watching Star Trek TOS and says, “Oh I’ve seen this one. This is the one where Spock goes nuts.”
Double Meaning: While Leonard’s Spock really did go crazy in that ep, Leonard’s Prime goes crazy too in the film.
That man had a voice of gold. I could listen to him talk all day and be utterly in bliss.
@@Ryan_Christopher they also missed one of his most famous quotes The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.
Which Leonard add libbed in the film. He did so knowing what that would mean.@@shadowdivided
4) the Cybertron in our orbit plot was actually taken from the original cartoon, but they honestly made it easier because the Decepticons dragged it across the universe to appear in Earths orbit, only for an explosion to knock it back to its original starting point
thats actually hilarious that cybertron got blasted all the way back to square one xD
They really didn't _need_ to reshoot it. That's just a dumb Hollywood thing where they think an unknown plot is better than a good plot
I didn't know they planned to have Ultra Magnus in that role. I woulda been PISSED.
@@DiggitySlice No fans are assholes they would've hated it... Fans hate anything

The first was G1 Galvatron I believe
Some of the humans working with the enemy makes sense and is a pretty realistic plot point

@@skywalkerjohn8965 ok...
@@skywalkerjohn8965Why?!
The original cartoon is NOT the canon, the Transformers franchise isn't just one interaction but many that share some similarities between themselves, but most of the time, each interaction is it's own thing with it's own rules.
@AFuckingBirdWhere did you learn to write?
Low key the best live action Transformers movie. Fixed a lot of the issues with RotF, which was honestly a terrible movie IMO. Also was AMAZING in 3D IMAX. Will always love this movie.
EDIT: Also the final battle did in fact inspire the one in Avengers (and a lot of other movies that did the whole "sky beam/aliens teleporting in from the sky into big city" thing, this was one of the first to do that whole thing). Final battle in particular was a treat in 3D.
Can’t deny that the forest scene was one of the best in the bayverse franchise. One of the best
Terrible is being too dramatic tbh
I enjoy the moments when the Autobots and the human characters put the nail in the Decepticons’ heads. That includes Sentinel getting his just desserts by Optimus, plus a little help from Megatron.
In the original script, Optimus lets Megatron go and finishes Sentinel off with his own rust gun.
The Allspark was introduced in Beast Wars but how they used it in the movie was more like the matrix of leadership like in the 80's movie.
@@mightheal It was sort of name dropped as an abstract concept in Beast Wars (a place where “all sparks” go when they’re extinguished) but it didn’t become a physical artifact until the first movie.
@@Gojirawars03 It's a physical being in the spinoff series Beast Machines.
Optimus getting that kill streak at the end will always be one of my favorite moments from these movies.
This movie will always have a very special place in my heart not just because I absolutely adored the giant worm decepticon tearing through Chicago but more because we actually got to sing Iridescent in chorus after the movie came out and someone in class suggested it
Ending a schoolyear on that song is something I’ll never forget
‘Tell megaton, let’s tango’ best one liner in the film
One of the best jam packed action movies ever
One of my favorite Alan tudyk roles. "I'm sorry, that is the old me..." Still makes me chuckle
Yeah so the original ending of this movie had megatron calling a truce and taking the decepticons back to cybertron. They actually used this ending in the novelization of this movie it’s a great read if you’re into books
Megatron : “Who would you be without me Prime?”
Optimus :” Time to find out.”
“Which is cool”
I will be holding a shot play for everytime James says that 😂
Always enjoy seeing you guys’ reaction!
“Dutch back in the cage” is actually one of my favorite movie moments of all time😂 it’s up there with Denzel duel wielding them 40s
I love how you guys actually watch and react as you go while still watching instead of pausing it every 2 seconds and talking for several minutes then hitting play while still talking and missing every major moment then being clueless most of the movie like every other react channel. Finally some good react content 👍
Also love Megatrons look when he first shows up also it sucks that Soundwave dies but at least Barricade lived
41:31 - Here's the twist: this movie actually took most of it's plot from a first season 3-parter called 'The Ultimate Doom.'
47:58 - Of all the Transformers that got the Bayverse makeover, I think Shockwave took to it the best.
52:53 - They couldn't resist. They HAD to get a Star Trek reference in...
I feel like I should rewatch this and count how many times they shout "where is Optimus?!"
Optimus slowly becomes a psychopathic killer throughout the series dude just straight up annihilates all deceptions it’s beautiful

The Allspark _was_ created entirely new for the movies, but functionally served the same purpose as the supercomputer Vector Sigma, in the original cartoon.

Wow…that’s insane
Someone said early draft is to make him as main villain but they change it to sentinel in final script
you two young men will never be able to apprehend to feeling of watching Neil Armstrong live on my Grandmas's black and white Motorola TV in the doorway of her kitchen in the summer of 1969..
So this movie was supposed to be the last bay film the original ending was prime would have had a truce with the decepticons they would have gone away and lived on Cybertron while the autobots stayed on earth however it got changed because Hasbro wanted to milk the bay movies more Wich is how we got 4 and 5 and why bay didn't really have much interest in them since this was supposed to be the final one
watching this movie in 3D theater was really great experience.
This movie also took inspiration from the Transformers G1 episodes, "The Ultimate Doom," and "Megatron's Master Plan."
Shockwave was also supposed to be the original super villain for this movie.
(Gee, wonder why Bay liked that one... lol)
White Noise Reacts letting you know who voice actor is Tom Kenny plays as Wheelie in first movie on Revenge of the Fallen

Fun fact, you said Shockwave needed a bigger role in the movie
*Originaly, he was supposed to be the main villain of DOTM*
Ok In my perspective Dark of the moon is the actual ending to transformers while the other two are a alternate ending yes the other 2 don’t make sense but there fun to watch
A little spoiler for the next one Sam is dead cuz Optimus gives voice lines indicating it. I say this because in the movie they don’t show it or explain it. Also sorry I just felt like I had to say it to let you guys know bc like I said they don’t explain what happened to Sam except for Optimus voice lines
If I remember correctly the jumping scenes with the fly suits are real shots!
I was in Chicago in August of 2010 when they were filming the final act of the film. Many of the wingsuit and parachute scenes were actually practical. I happened to see some of the airdrop scenes over Millenium Park from the window of my Condo.
The voice actor for Megatron and Soundwave in the original 1986 movie also voices Soundwave in this movie
You can kinda see how Michael bay just focused too much on the Human aspect of these movies and not the robots as well as the many continutity errors and plots holes linking all the movies together. gets worse believe it or not lol.
Also a few fun facts:
Dino, the Red Ferrari, uses Blades as his main weapon.
When the building falls over, Bay had built a 1.1 replica of the middle section of the skyscraper and put it on a giant hydraulic tilt, so that set actually happened.
his final words being "We will never forsake this planet or its' people" is kinda depressing considering what happens in the next movie.
Transformers Dark of the Moon is the best Transformers movie
I prefer the novel ending were Optimus and megatron end the war peacefully.
I feel like they did Soundwave dirty here, but also a throwback, remember what Optimus said to that asshole agent last movie? He asked what if the autobots left, and the decepticons still stayed on the offensive against humans, and this movie proved him right
This is my favorite of the Michael Bay Transformers movies.
Kinda like the government in real life yes your a hero now we don't need you. So bye your job is done
This movie was Optimus Prime's war criminal arc.
Either way you should still watch the fourth and fith of the Michael Bay films. They're both decent. A lot of people hate the fith movie but I liked it and personally think it's underrated. That said i think the Rise of the Beasts movie is overrated and just nostalgia bait. But you should watch them all and make up your own mind.
4th could be argued is still decent. 5th? Nah. Just nah. It was too much. Revenge of the fallen cracked up to eleven. Very bad.
The Avengers wishes it had as much juice as Dark of the Moon.
the action in this movie is so good. i was so bummed when ironhide died he was kinda my favorite
Generally Autobots are cars and Trucks and Deceptacons was Planes and Helicopters, cause Transformers was originally Toys
i rlly loved any of the bayverse movies cuz of their action but there r a few things i rlly thought they could've done much better.
With that in mind, it would make way more sense for... see 3)
3) Megatron to have a resentment to shockwave of leading the decepticons rather than him, as Shockwave himself is a decepticon.
1:01:03 this was honestly an adorable and hilarious closure
in the original script, when megatron said ''all i need a truce'' optimus and megatron declare peace between autobots and decepticons but the script was later changed
In megatron's defense, he was a little brain dead in this movie cause he was missing half his head so he gets a pass on his bad logic
I just noticed after all these years that when Optimus is in truck mode his windows are tinted and I’m robot mod his fish bowling 😂😂😂
Literally the only Transformers movie from Bay I actually enjoyed unironically.
Nice catch on the voice actor for Megatron in this movie. It's none other than 1 of my favorite actors, Hugo Weaving.
56:42 my favorite shot of the movie. Feels like you're playing an FPS Transformers game.
Sam's girlfriend is actually married to Jason Statham in real life, would be cool to see him turn up in a Transformers movie, unfortunately they go a bit down-hill from here.
