It even had the tag sewn right into the seam when it arrived, brand new. Well. That same seam developed a tiny rip after about a month. My daughter got her curious little fingers in there and easily shredded a huge hole in the cover, pulled out the stuffing, and exposed the metal springs. I could have returned it, but paying for packaging made it not worthwhile. Lmao you can see it when you zoom in and it’s not at all the angle or the way the photo was taken anything!! From the photo alone I knew they were gonna be trash!!!!
I'm an avid skater and I work in the bicycle industry. It's the same story I tell folks every day. Wal-mart sells toy bikes. The industry is really wasteful when you think about all the work it takes to make cheap products that get thrown away after a few uses because they are not made to last. You get what you pay for, and if you want to support more crappy stuff getting made, by all means, purchase your outdoor gear on fast fashion websites and Wal-mart. Otherwise, support your local shop and technicians, and get informed on what you are paying for.
Yeah as much as i'd love to buy that let's say $500 bike, i can't afford it working part time and going to school, you can't blame low income people for buying cheap. It's like with fast food, how do you want me to eat healthy when i could get a whole combo for $5 while the salad is $10 🤔
Golden Horse is actually very professional and very excellent quality. To the point where it’s basically custom made sizes. Their ice skates have been used in the Olympics and pro ice skaters and also inline. Excellent quality!!! Before I broke my ankle, I was going to sell my Lollys and CandiGirls (keep my Bunnies and Panthers) so I could buy GH skates
Indy makes an important point: wheels should be the only part of a skate that makes it better for indoors or outdoor skating! I use a soft big wheel (78A) outdoors and then swap 'em out with a harder set of wheels for my local roller rink (98A). Don't need two totally separate pairs if you have reliable trucks :D
I think i need to rewatch the video on this part of Indoor vs outdoor setups. I originally thought im getting this one perfect setup w wheel swaps not wasting money but… I couldnt find that perfect combo boot & ended up w two & really tweaked them for trail vs dance (good surface) over time much more than wheels. But basic cruising i think your fine w one set of hybrids to start lol For my Trail: more ankle support, sizeable stops, firmer top cushions no speed wobbles hills, 78A trail wheels VS Dancing/good surface: Softest cushions, jam plugs/dance stops, ultra flex boot, hybrid- indoor duro small wheels But its truely still doable even for me rn, i could drop stops, change wheels as needed & get a medium boot w softer cushions & loosen trucks & lace halfway to change up ive seen some ppl do in one pair! But once your a lil spoiled its more than wheels if you get into niches So i think in beggining its nice idea, & moreso i encourage like i said just get hybrid 62mm 82A wheels dont even swap till u get niches & advance lol ;))
As someone who was just about to drop $162 on their TokiDoki skates, I really appreciate this review. Cause I’m just gonna assume all the skates they make under their numerous in house labels are of this quality.
I loved roller skating as a kid, my first pair were the little sandal looking ones that clipped onto shoes and one of my first memories is holding onto my mom's hands going painstakingly slow down the drive way. (did anyone else get monster high skates as a kid?? the aesthetic was on point) I stopped skating for a few years and recently got a pair of impalas since they seemed decent quality for the price and there was no point spending $400 on skates if I didn't like skating any more (thankfully skating is still one of the best things on the planet). Honestly your channel is so helpful for skaters of any ability, I hope your pillow is always cold and your socks are never wet
Good video. I see so many beginners on cool looking skates, but often wonder at the quality of them. I skate on Supreme Turbo33s as at the age of 62 they're as close as I could find to the skates I had back in the '80's. It's good to see skating is so popular again after the decline in the '90's
It’s a good idea for anyone to start memorizing or finding out their Europe shoe sizing since they use a much more accurate measurement. I believe they use cm for shoe size so I am a 5 women’s and 3.5/4 in junior/men’s but I am a 35 in europe sizing only and that’s how you can be sure the sizes are correct and what they should be.
Thanks for your review. I recently bought some skates distributed by Dolls Kill but the skate company name was comic. I am fairly newly returning to skating full time again after many years and my spec awareness and personal requirements have definitely changed. I’m thinking to do a review on the pair I got. Btw can you please tell me what the hand held filming taste it that you are using? I see many skaters use this but I don’t know what it is.
what is the selfie stick recording thing you use to get the great angles while your staking that was amazing! Also love you content, really glad I found you I just started getting into staking and you have been super helpful! so Thank you!!
You should review Rookie Skates, I have a pair and think they're really good (particularly for the price of £60) but that's my not particularly informed opinion😂
Yeah I had the Rookie bubblegum and loved them!! Turns out I loved skatepark skating so had to trade them in after only 2 weeks but for cruising around they were great
Rookie is not a good brand actually. Bought one of those a year ago and the boot started to unstick the plate after 3 or 4 months using them. I do not recommend them.
Thank you SO much for making videos like this, it's so helpful to hear why these aren't safe, like I've heard of what to look for when buying skates but nobody wants to talk about the specifics of what makes a skate bad or unsafe. I got a set of Cosmic Skates from dollskill for like £30 and I honestly lucked out so hard, I really could've hurt myself and just by chance I dodged the issues you were having with the YRU, mine were the pink plaid if anyone's wondering
I have a pair of YRU skates that are Care Bears and my skates are NOTHING like yours. Mine have metal trucks, etc - and they are not all uniform in color on the bottom. I don’t think they sell those anymore or make them anymore like what you have: they have no skates listed with plastic trucks - only metal. I absolutely love my skates - they are so well made and the most comfortable skate I’ve ever worn. I don’t think the YRU skates are crap anymore … or they changed how they are made here in 2022 and stopped making plastic trucks etc. I normally don’t leave comments, but my skates are great and nothing like yours. I would be so pissed if they were plastic trucks etc. I am a skateboarder and I’ve always stayed away from Roller Skating because my feet always hurt so badly in all the ones I have ever used… except in the YRU Care Bears I own 🤷🏻♀️.
thank you for uploading this! i was eyeing the new care bears skates yru released and i'm glad i watched this before buying. it doesn't surprise me though, most of dolls kill's items in general are poor quality and made basically just for taking photos in T_T

I learned to backwards skate with metal wheels in my neighbor's driveway with no stoppers or head gear, elbow padding, knee pads or helmet!! Lol. Good times. Of course tjis was back in the mid 70's. I eventually became an excellent skater & took my skating gear up to the Riedel speed skates. Cheap skates will ALWAYS use vinyl to make the boot. Good quality skates will be MADE with leather.
A good pair that's not as expensive as the Moxi are the Jackson Vista Vipers!! I absolutely LOVE THEM!!! You can find them for around $200 - $250. I am a 260lb female and they take me jumping and doing crazy stuff really well. I even used them when I got up to 280 during the Pandemic so if you're a plus size person they are amazing. They are also really comfy and all I did was change the wheels just to make them gummier for asphalt since I'm an outdoor skater. They are AMAZING!!! You can get them with aluminum plates but mine are Nylon and hold my weight perfectly.
I hate when companies produce inferior products such as these roller skates. If the skates don't work well then it will give someone a bad impression of rollerskating and they will never do it again. If they have great skates then it may inspire them to learn more and more. What's even worse is that junk brands charges premium prices sometimes so you can't even gauge the quality by a price point.
What is your opinion on the Jackson Vista Mystique skates?? Bought a cheap pair of xudrez on Amazon and within a few months I was wanting an upgrade. Love your videos! Always great info! Thanks 😊
Good morning. I woke up watching them train and I really enjoyed it, I learned how to brake with you. Where are you from? Are they on the side of the Pacific Ocean or the Atlantic Ocean? Hugs, Jaime Reis.
I'm new to skating and bought their batwing Halloween pair and when I tried removing the toe stop so I could put guards on, it wouldn't budge. The screw is completely stripped . Thankfully I got them on clearance and the trucks on them are metal, but still annoying.
I actually bought my first pair of skates from Alter'd State's store and couldn't find any info about the wheels or anything and got sooo nervous about that when I started looking into how to roller skate and different parts of skates. The tongue of mine look exactly like the tongue of these Dolls kills 😩😭 But my trucks are thankfully not plastic and I bought hybrid wheels and different toe stops for em.
COVID is the reason non-legit companies are able to produce and sale skates. Legit companies are totally inundated, causing back orders so parasites are stepping in, filling in the gap. Unfortunately, people who could be lifelong skaters will get hurt in these and never want to lace up again. Thank you for a great review.
Thank you for the video!! Can you do a review on the Decathlon's roller skates, because I was going to buy them but I'm not really sure about the quality?
Can you do a review with milkyway unisex roller skates? I just bought my first pair of roller skates and no one has a review on them that I can find, I like how honest you are in your reviews and how you use trial and error to determine the quality! I bought mine off of Amazon for 73 $ca after tax which isn't very much money and want to know if i should return them
I’m glad people are familiar with GH!!!! Before I broke my ankle, I was going to sell 2 pairs of my skates so I can get a pair of GH! They have a beautiful pink color
I agree with her saying the Chicago skates not being safe. The trucks came off while I was riding multiple times even though I tightened them and they gave me wheel bite all the time.
Thank you so much for this video and others. I started roller blading in March and roller skating around the beginning of august and they’re two wonderful worlds and I wouldn’t have started rollerskating if it wasn’t for ur videos. I yesterday finally learned how to stop and I’m so thrilled!
Have you reviewed Xudrez rollers skates? I didn't actually order them but I was looking at skates on Amazon and the next day a pair arrived at my house. I have not roller skated since the 1970's but am re-learning to skate in these skates. I notice they have a lot of the same thing you are talking about; The truck and plate are poly something (not metal). I've been skating in my house to learn again and they seem fine for that. I don't like the synthetic boot. But I figure they will be okay for me to relearn. And I didn't buy them! Going to stay on a rink for a while since I'm almost 64 but I'm starting to get the hang of it. I will upgrade my skates. Curious about these Xudrez.
Of course you can, I was thinking the same thing. Bare in mind that, in that case, you'll have expensive skates which will be quality wise still 'meh', since I can't imagine the boot being super decent. Kinda depends on what kind of skating you want to do, I guess. I wouldn't take them to the park unless you have excellent insurance, full gear with mouth guard and an unhealthy disregard for bodily functions. At each skater's discretion, naturally. Freedom, happiness.😁💖
Yes I bought a pair and by doing spins in one side of the wheel I ran the wheel to the core. I wish I could send you a pick it’s quite hilarious 😂. Do you think if I switch the wheels I should be fine with the rest just so I can still salvage the use of them?
Hi Indy thanks for giving these informations! I am an advanced skater and made the same mistake when my Sister asked for skates. I saw the Roces RC1 skates for 80 dollars and they had the same issues! No edges and wheels touching plates. Don't buy them!
Dang, I just literally got another skate from Dolls Kill. I just wanted a really cheap pair to practice on just to get a feel for them again and just practice. I wasn't planning on going hog wild with them. It didn't occur to me that the plate and trucks would be an issue. I did notice that the place is plastic and the trucks are metal. You are right, the pictures or descriptions do not give any information. I some boots coming with the order and I will return them and get something else. How about doing a beginner video on what to look for in brand new skates. It would avoid people getting scammed by them. I will be even more careful looking at other skates as I improve. Thanks for the information.
i got the dolls kill care bear ones as a gift for my birthday as i mentioned i wanted to start skating, do you think they’re safe enough to practice with or should i not even bother ? >
I literally just got them today with c-7 skates. They were on sale from doll kills and I got both for only 116 total. I haven't skated since I was a kid. I didn't want any with a plastic base and didn't realize these ones did and also the size 8 womans is definitely a size too large. My c-7 skates are also size 8 womans and are much smaller with a metal base.
Indy is the whole reason I discoved candi girl skates and mine have held up since forever. Got them to learn to cruise and chose to use them when I learned to flip.

today i bought and returned some skates from Academy. I bought the only skates in my size They happened to be pink boots with glitter wheels. I am 98% sure they are the same skate you are using but just in a different color.
I prefer bolt-on toe stops. The adjustable ones keep unscrewing and loosening on both my very-different branded skates. If I skate and I hear a rattling I know it's cos one of my adjustables has loosened. I find them overrated. Maybe they're better on the super high price point skates, but I haven't got ludicrous amounts of money to spend on Golden Horse or Edea.

That's what I thought, that's one of the cutest boots I have seen, but that would be waaaay too expensive. Also maybe we shoud not be giving them money.
@Klaudia Piasecka yeah there's that issue too. I'd reaaally really hate putting money in these unethical pockets. Might look for them on Poshmark or vinted someday though 👀 appeasing my conscience a lil bit
I have much respect for you. Thanks for being so honest in these skate reviews. You probably saved alot of people from getting hurt.
Girl I’m so glad you posted this because when YRU first released the promo pic for these skates one of the back wheels is LITERALLY lumpy!!
It's like with fast food, how do you want me to eat healthy when i could get a whole combo for $5 while the salad is $10 🤔
DO GOLDEN HORSE ROLLERSKATES
THOSE ARE GREAT, SERIOUSLY.
In the back of my mind I kept hearing ' I'm a Barbie girl, in the Barbie world
Life in plastic, it's fantastic ', ✨🎶💖💕
Indy makes an important point: wheels should be the only part of a skate that makes it better for indoors or outdoor skating! I use a soft big wheel (78A) outdoors and then swap 'em out with a harder set of wheels for my local roller rink (98A). Don't need two totally separate pairs if you have reliable trucks :D
I think i need to rewatch the video on this part of Indoor vs outdoor setups. I originally thought im getting this one perfect setup w wheel swaps not wasting money but…
I couldnt find that perfect combo boot & ended up w two & really tweaked them for trail vs dance (good surface) over time much more than wheels. But basic cruising i think your fine w one set of hybrids to start lol
For my Trail:
more ankle support, sizeable stops, firmer top cushions no speed wobbles hills, 78A trail wheels
VS
Dancing/good surface:
Softest cushions, jam plugs/dance stops, ultra flex boot, hybrid- indoor duro small wheels
But its truely still doable even for me rn, i could drop stops, change wheels as needed & get a medium boot w softer cushions & loosen trucks & lace halfway to change up ive seen some ppl do in one pair! But once your a lil spoiled its more than wheels if you get into niches
So i think in beggining its nice idea, & moreso i encourage like i said just get hybrid 62mm 82A wheels dont even swap till u get niches & advance lol ;))
As someone who was just about to drop $162 on their TokiDoki skates, I really appreciate this review. Cause I’m just gonna assume all the skates they make under their numerous in house labels are of this quality.
TokiDoki? That's my friends company!! She would NOT want her brand being made into something unsafe. I will tell her.
Its disgusting that companies are charging so much money for piece of junk skates like these. They should be ashamed. $140???!!!! 🤔
I would die immediately if I skated on these! Amazing what YOU can do with them though!
I had fisher price plastic roller skates when I was like 5 lol
I believe they use cm for shoe size so I am a 5 women’s and 3.5/4 in junior/men’s but I am a 35 in europe sizing only and that’s how you can be sure the sizes are correct and what they should be.
wow you're so right! It should be illegal to sell this stuff. And that's hella expensive for what they are!
It's 2021 and people are still supporting Dolls Kill ☠️☠️
what is the selfie stick recording thing you use to get the great angles while your staking that was amazing!
Also love you content, really glad I found you I just started getting into staking and you have been super helpful! so Thank you!!
Really good video. The setting, totally comprehensive review, plus the detail footage of the errors in that skate were truly eye-opening!
Can you try rookie artistic skates? I have them and I love them. I do plan on going to the skatepark in them when I'm better at skating :)
I'm going to splurge and get a high end pair of skates for Christmas. I'd like to see some reviews for high end skates.
Golden Horse Skates! They’re extremely underrated and make high quality top of the notch skates custom to each customer 😩👏🏼
@@devinesky7110 I was gonna say Golden Horse also!!!! We’re talking amazing quality!!!! So beautiful too!!!! It’s pricey but the quality is amazing! Don’t be fooled that it’s from Taiwan (I believe). They are professional skates. (Ice, quad, inline figure skating)
WIFA skates boots are a great option! Boots range from 200-220 and then you can pick a plate of your choice
YAY a new *formm* of intro. Atleast were getting somewhere now, thanks Indy! Also thanks for the review, honestly I’m someone that would judge a book by its cover and buy those because they look awesome 😬 much needed review and great video
Awwww glad you noticed 😆 So happy you found the review helpful too!
@@INDYJAMMAJONES
I love this video, she's not just talking tash on them like I thought she would tbh, she's stating actual facts, I appreciate this video
Would you think replacing parts of them make them safer? Like making the metal and stuff or different wheels?
That tracks, Dolls kill has a history of shady business decisions
What is your opinion on the Jackson Vista Mystique skates??
Bought a cheap pair of xudrez on Amazon and within a few months I was wanting an upgrade. Love your videos! Always great info! Thanks 😊
Good morning. I woke up watching them train and I really enjoyed it, I learned how to brake with you. Where are you from? Are they on the side of the Pacific Ocean or the Atlantic Ocean? Hugs, Jaime Reis.
YRU watching like 🧍🏼♀️
they have cute shoes, they should stick to what they’re good at
Hey!! Just got rookie classic 78's for €99 from skatepro! Would you be able to review these maybe?😊 Love your videos!!
I love these reviews! Would you do a review on the Moxi Rainbow Riders? Or reviews on Derby Skates, like the R3 or Chaya Pearl?
I'm new to skating and bought their batwing Halloween pair and when I tried removing the toe stop so I could put guards on, it wouldn't budge. The screw is completely stripped . Thankfully I got them on clearance and the trucks on them are metal, but still annoying.
Omg I just bought these 😭
I actually bought my first pair of skates from Alter'd State's store and couldn't find any info about the wheels or anything and got sooo nervous about that when I started looking into how to roller skate and different parts of skates. The tongue of mine look exactly like the tongue of these Dolls kills 😩😭 But my trucks are thankfully not plastic and I bought hybrid wheels and different toe stops for em.
Please try the British made Rookie roller skates
I bought mine off of Amazon for 73 $ca after tax which isn't very much money and want to know if i should return them
You gotta try our Golden Horse Skates! :)
LOVE GOLDEN HORSE
I’m glad people are familiar with GH!!!! Before I broke my ankle, I was going to sell 2 pairs of my skates so I can get a pair of GH! They have a beautiful pink color
Heeeey, could you make a review on the BTFL roller skates please? So hard to find... thaaaanks for all the cool videos, btw.
Question? Do you think it would be possible to change the plate and trucks out for metal ones? If so would that make them better? Just wondering. 😊
Was thinking that too
Yes I bought a pair and by doing spins in one side of the wheel I ran the wheel to the core.
Indy, I trust your opinions!! Thank you for looking out for all of us! 💖
Thank you for this video. I purchased some Care Bear skates from them. I'm expecting them on Monday. I don't know what brand they are.
I completely agree, Things like this are why we should rules in place for issues like this.
what kind of selfie stick are you using?! i love it!!
i got the dolls kill care bear ones as a gift for my birthday as i mentioned i wanted to start skating, do you think they’re safe enough to practice with or should i not even bother ? >
I literally just got them today with c-7 skates. They were on sale from doll kills and I got both for only 116 total. I haven't skated since I was a kid. I didn't want any with a plastic base and didn't realize these ones did and also the size 8 womans is definitely a size too large. My c-7 skates are also size 8 womans and are much smaller with a metal base.
I bought a pair of Rainbow Rollers and skating pads from moxi AND THEYRE AWESOME BEST $222 IVE SPENT EVER
Indy is the whole reason I discoved candi girl skates and mine have held up since forever. Got them to learn to cruise and chose to use them when I learned to flip.
Hey I’m about to buy skates and saw these c7 skates and not much people review them and I see that you review skates and was wondering if you could review c7?
Why do we like like it when indy says these skates are not safe?
Oh no! I usually love their skates but I get the ones that obviously had a lot more thought put into it unlike these ) : !!! I purposely avoided the ones that looked like they were all plastic. Reminded me of Chicago’s.
Can you review cosmic skates from off of the dolls kill website? I purchased some recently for me and my daughters, prior to seeing this video. Just wanted to know if they are safe.
Ive been learning to skate on some dollskill sugar thrillz skates, I would love to know your opinion on them, I’m having trouble knowing if they’re terrible or not 😳
Ohhhhh sugar thrillz I didn’t know they made some!
Which one specifically? I have 2 of their skates and I love the purple ones. Definitely better than the ones in the video. Skate a lot smoother.
@@INDYJAMMAJONES Please review them! they have a metal frame and trucks I believe and they are so cute! Ive been so on the nose about buying them because of the design.
@@devinesky7110 I have the groovy galaxy ones. I am a beginner skater (1m now) but they kinda make my calves burn in a way that I don’t think should happen?? They are a bit too big because the sizing is really whacko but I wear super thick socks, I have just loosened the trucks but I feel like there’s a couple of things I’ll definitely need to switch out on these(cushions are super hard, quite soft wheels, thin glitter laces got shredded the first skate). I think I’m going to be looking for something a bit more practical ASAP. 😅 super super cute though
would you be able to test out and review Rookie roller skates?. my rookie roller skates were £45 in the sale, originally £75 full price. and i cant bend the boot to the sides, and my wheels dont touch the bottom plate and theyre charging £100 for worse quality on dolls kill. although my rookie skates do have plastic trucks but i didn't know about this before and didn't want to spend a lot. just wanted some to practice in really. but i did change the original wheels to outdoor wheels.
Do you think all of those dollskill skates are made with plastic trucks because I’m looking at the site and some seem to be metal but I don’t know could be fake and cheap metal if that’s even possible?.
Can you just replace the plates/trucks etc with better quality ones? That way you still have a pretty skate but safer quality
Do you know anything about the trickz n treatz skates that are now sold by dolls kill? Ive just bought a pair for my first pair of skates and now ive seen this im a little worried although the plate is metal and not plastic on these.
I'm french but I love watch your videos, thanks ! It encourage me for starting rolleeskate :)
today i bought and returned some skates from Academy. I bought the only skates in my size They happened to be pink boots with glitter wheels. I am 98% sure they are the same skate you are using but just in a different color.
Please do chaser whips rollerskates! i love ur vids, indy!! ♥️
Can you try the Candi girl Carlin skate? Also, if you could do a video on the best low prices protective gear
Hi I feel so Sad I just bought a pair for 40.00 on Mercari Would you recommended changing out some parts to make them safe?
I prefer bolt-on toe stops. The adjustable ones keep unscrewing and loosening on both my very-different branded skates. If I skate and I hear a rattling I know it's cos one of my adjustables has loosened. I find them overrated. Maybe they're better on the super high price point skates, but I haven't got ludicrous amounts of money to spend on Golden Horse or Edea.
And here I was, about to buy the Hello Kitty version of these skates and mount an Arius plate on it just for shits and giggles. Maaaybeee I'll wait till April 1st.
You are the trusted source for skate reviews. Thank you so much!
I didn't know that you could get "wheel bite" on roller skates. Isn't it possible to tighten the trucks nut?
Can you do C7 scares please!! I have those and I want to know if they’re safe or not. I do indoor roller skating at my skating rink and I love it
What camera do you use for the selfie sequences?
