@mohdathar8331 you can look at lineups of teams with no budget. There is some truth in Carraghar saying that right back is where failed centrebacks are deployed. The other position is one of the wide midfielders (usually LM) where they will typically deploy someone.. typically a midfielder out of position because money will go to more important positions such as striker, centre mid and centrebacks. Go look. Not every team can afford 2 world class players in every positions by breaking 115 rules.
@@vespasiancloscan7077 ??? City has 10x better future than the entire history of all the premier league teams combined . Face the fact and wear your underwear on your head 😊
So true, it’s time to let him go. For years, this question of dropping walker bc of his poor offense has come up repeatedly. If someone rle has to go, then let it be Walker. At the same time, I’m wondering why the LB can’t invert instead of the RB: Have Walker hang back, send Gvardiol or Stones to invert. Is Gvardiol not a pretty proven asset for ball-carrying, passing, and other attacking skill?
No one replaces Bernardo Silva. He is the most used player by Pep, for a reason. Understated, undervalued, underrated. He never fails, and is absolute quality, the heart of the team.
The Foden being not good at defense was resolved back in January of this year, he said he was reluctant to play Foden in the midfield but then Foden showed he could handle the position later in the season and played there the rest of the season and won PL player of the year from his performances in the middle. I don’t think Pep is too concerned with Foden in the middle 😂
Pep will rather change the system at any time to fit personnel rather than to try to force a player into a role they are not good at. He can start Kyle Walker then invert Stones/Akanji into midfield. Alternatively he can have the left FB inverting whilst Walker on the right remains with the back 3. So many options, no headachd for Pep
Rico Lewis as LB, Gvardiol And Diaz as CBs and Walker as RB! Rico Lewis inverting in midfield from LB position (we saw this in match against Finland) while Gvardiol, Diaz and Walker as 3 CBs in possession alongside with Stones,Akanji and Ake providing depth, and if we drop Rico we can use stones as CB and he stepping in Midfield like he did against Inter Milan in CL final! Hence pep only need to think about Foden
He's not dropping Akanji. What's Walker without pace? Gvardiol offers a superior attacking thread than Walker - Gvardiol is just weak defensively & doesn't know when to pass. Ake is injured as well.
I think one of Doku and Savio has to sit out for Foden, despite how good they have been. Rodri comes right back. Walker warms the bench. Let KDB flourish 🩵🩵
I think it's a pretty easy fix and yes, how they can do it. Firstly, RODRI, right into the team he goes No problem, he can replace KOVACI. Next Lewis, he gets replaced by John Stones who recently came back from injuries. I think this guy forgot about him. Next phoden can just slot in at right-wing, So that Man City do not have to play 2 tecky wingers at the same time. In doku and Savino. Next Kyle Walker, he has to get benched.
It's an easy choice drop walker and sell in January, rodri fits right back in but it's good to know he only needs to play big games and champions league as kovacic it's a fantastic rotation options, use foden as a substitute or rotation in domestic cups and easier games, unpopular opinion sell in the summer he is not good enough and doesn't have loads of room to grow and develop with out first team game time, he's also been very poor for England in terms of output and performances
Phil Foden is one of the most fascinating tactical problems in world football. Guardiola and Southgate both spoke repeatedly about how they see his best position long term being central midfield, but that he can't play there effectively in the present because of his defensive weaknesses: primarily lapses in concentration and occasional lack of work rate, to a smaller degree marking and tackling ability. He said a few months ago the two major aspects of his game he needs to improve are defensively for when he plays centrally, to help his teammates, and to be stronger in duels. On the wing he's too prone to drifting inside when Guardiola needs dedicated width, and dropping back to receive the ball. He's simultaneously very talented, coming off the back of a fine season; and an issue because he doesn't yet have the complete skill set and play style to suit any position on the field. As a number 10 he can disappear from games for large periods, and at club level will always be competing with De Bruyne and now Bernardo Silva, while at international level Bellingham was and may always be first choice. Pep is currently trying to figure out how to fit him into the team this season with their slightly tweaked system. Foden remains a tactical conundrum, until he improves in those areas and can play centrally either as something like a 10, or a midfielder in the Xavi cum Iniesta mold that Pep would love him to be asap.
The only time Pep will play Walker now is in cup games or agaisnt a rapid winger but Rico will play 90% of the games this season, he’s far better with the ball at his feet. Once he finds his feet in that position he will be one of the first on the team sheet
Pep always plays the best available squad for the opponent it’s never about fitting players into the team just because they’re good. For instance he’s never gonna play Lewis for Walker if he’s fit and the opposition have fast wingers
Walker in 2024? KDB doesn't have the legs for CAM. Doku offers him the space & frees up midfield for him. Foden, yes. Rodri needs rest. Kova plays that role & he's an 8 as well. City has actual wingers now.
Thats not a problem lmao, he basically has two systems now he can change players at the 70th minute. It's perfect and give players less risk to be injured
City played 442 against Brentford with KDB and Haaland up top. None of the defenders drifted into midfield as they have this season thus far with Rico filling that role.
Yes it's mean squad depth, but not all player suited in this current formation, and i think even mancity can't adapt for formation changing every one week, so i want to know how guardiola solve this.
The only real problem is fitting in Walker. Man city have so many matches this season, they can afford to give adequate game time to the rest. The squad depth is insane
The better question is what's their strongest Eleven this Season? I would argue a 3-4-3 Hybrid of Diamond and Box: Ederson - Walker, Dias, Gvardiol - Rodri - Lewis/Gündo, Bernardo, De Bruyne - Foden, Haaland, Doku
All he has to do is run the same system with Rico on the left and de bruyne on the right he’s dangerous whipping crosses to haaland and foden can play wide on the left
This isn't a problem it's the solution. Walker is old and Lewis is the future(maybe even present 😅) this is just Peps way of moving on from Walker , while Foden and Rodri can easily recover their roles in this system
Didnt walker play as a centre back for england? Seems like having him on the right and lewis pushing into midfield would accomodate things quite well, as for Foden, I don't see Grealish or Savio holding that place down, so stick him on the left?
Oh no I have to many options! I’m sure he hates being able to completely change the tactics at half time or minute 60 just by subbing two players, what a jam!
Wouldn’t the simple solution be to invert the LB instead of the RB? Have Walker hang back and let Gvardiol or Stones invert. Am I missing something? Are Stones and Gvardiol not proven assets for ball-carrying, passing, and other attacking skill?
Invert Gvardiol. He’s good with the ball and likes to carry the ball through the middle. And walker is getting old so Rico Lewis should get more and more playing time.
I don't think it's a big deal, rotate them in during champions league and cups and whoever performs best in the given position and system keeps the place in the big games.
