I have only just seen your video, so I presume someone has told you since, that a 50/50 mixture of Transmission Fluid and Acetone is reported to be the best to unstick stubborn parts. Also Alloy and steel being dissimilar metals, vinegar or tomato sauce if not able to soak in vinegar. These are old school remedies before commercial products. Which don’t often work as good.
Hi buddy ive not been watching you for a while im back now and was a good video i use to whatch the range rover videos as i had a broten LR4 and its all fixed and sold with some help from watching you cheers and look forward to more of your videos cheers Paul
Brave of you to try that. I lost my nerve and had the Firm of Corman´s build me a new RMA engine for a 1950 LHD project of mine. I don´t regret it one bit but I just may try my hand on my original engine if the white metal crankshaft bearings are somewhat ok. I will be watching this and keep my fingers crossed we all see light at the end of this RMA engine tunnel! Perhaps your pal could hand wash the car in preparation for Stage 2...?
Place I worked many years ago we were taking a head of a Jaguar tried everything we could think of just would not come off, so we hook a crain onto the head lifted the front of the car till the wheels were just touching left it overnight in the morning head came of lol nice video 😁😁👍👍
Garage I used to work at, one of the lads did a similar thing to get a siezed injector out of a merc sprinter. Van was off the ground hanging by the injector. Come in in the morning, injector came out but the engine hoist went through the windscreen.
You got a spare 5 mins m8? My car won’t start. Sure. Comes to see car 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮 Errrrr, maybe need a bit more than 5mins 🤣. Nice to see something a little different. Hopefully more to come!
Trying to spice things up a bit rather than the usual drab unreliable crap that's produced these days. There will be another "will it run" video in the coming months on an old porsche. Should be interesting!
You’ll need to ditch your metric tools and get some A/F spanners for this job👍👍👍could well be wittworth not many people will know what that is, I had a shadow 2 lots of wittworth on that👍
“Built to last” ain’t that the truth! God it pisses me off cutting/drilling out/tapping rusted bolts out of a 3 year old car that even has an undercover! It’s more expensive and wasteful for everyone to make things cheap… this can’t last as all of us know! Hope you vacuumed out those rust bits right near the spark plug holes before filling..
I restored a 1947 RMA back in ‘88/89. A real car, solid, easy to work on _ should have kept her lovely to drive1
Thanks for taking the time to film this. I look forward to watch!
I know nothing about these cars, I want to learn
Nor me! Never worked on one before. Every day is a learning day.

I have 3 of these Rileys, 2 x 2.5 RMB and 1x 1.5 RMA Restored myself. Beautiful cars.
I am so jealous. One would do me, a 2 1/2 l. RMF -- or a drophead, for fun.
Great video, I’m looking forward to more, thanks
I got mine ( basically same as your one on the video) in 1979 - still got it - my first car - great cars

🤣🤣 shouldn't be 20 parts but you never know!

Whole car is Whitworth.
Great video, look forward to watching progress. Will you film the complete restoration? Cheers.
I'll try to. I'm trying to persuade him to sell me the car, if I end up buying it then I will film the resto.
@@pistonbroke will follow with interest 👍
45 ft pounds torque on those header bolts
I think there should be a crank handle in the boot? Lots of Whitworth on those old girls.

OMG lmao here 🤣🤣😁😁👍👍@@pistonbroke
@@rabk5702 🤣🤣 we found it funny. Boss didn't though as he had to foot the bill for a windscreen. His idea to leave it hanging overnight though lol
@@pistonbroke got to love it when the boss decided to have one of the crew do that stunt. Came and bit him in the rump for sure 😂😂😂😂
You forgot to remove the variable valve timing and lift and its associated cam sensors. Is this the twin ecu model?
It makes a nice change to strip an engine that doesn't have all that crap on it
@pistonbroke agreed! I like the old lube the nipple and go approach.

The threads are BSF, there may be some BSW on the bodywork, I can't remember, it's been decades since I owned one of these cars.
