    Anyone who says this is a waste of money doesn’t have Duke energy as their electricity provider.

    Holy fuck that's expensive. Got 11 520W panels for about 8K including installation, with the energy crisis it repayed that investment within a year. My bill is now €5,- a month :)

    Most major power companies have been positioning to get rid of net metering for the past 2 to 3 years. The solar panel industry is building a giant rug pull. Make sure you understand the terms of your agreement if you sign with them. The solar company will leave you holding the bag of the bill even if the power company stops paying for the power you produce.

    my power bill is 45euros a month, goes to 55 in winter.

    You said you still had an 150 electric bill even with the solar panels. So, why are you taking off 300 every month should be $150.
    Means 12 years not 6 for repayment and good luck in the winter, more like 15 years repayment. So, if they last 10 only, 10 years 😭🤣

    As an engineer that specializes in renewable energy, I must say, finally a homeowner that actually gets it. All else being equal, labor will increase with time so you might as well save money today and well into the future instead of waiting on potential price drops.

      Please explain to the people how the actual efficiency of the 25 year panels degrades down by 20-25 percent and then do it all again?

    the price of solar systems has went up drastically since the government started giving tax credits. my system cost me $33K, now it costs over $50K.

    In an investment at 5% interest per year, your 100,000 could turn into 265,329.77 in 20 years. Will you spend 165,329.77 in electricity in 20 years?
    And if you have kids, you can transfer that wealth to them when you die, and they can keep the investment train going, it will be worth 1,185,426.60 in another 30 years.
    Create wealth for yourself and your kids.

      Someone commented that he spent 100K... He didn't actually pay 100K. He said in the video that he only paid 24K including installation. The clip is only 1 minute long its not that hard to listen too.

    • @jonrich9675

      @@lordhosk regardless he owes 24k plus interest which means it will take 10+ years to pay off which is a horrible return on investments. Dude will be like 60 years old before he even gets some money back lol.

    • @LifeLongLearner-om8jx
      @LifeLongLearner-om8jx Месяц назад

      East west is actually a great orientation for solar as long as south face is full first and no shade. About 90% of the energy output a pure south orientation would yield over a year.

    • @johnbartz1907
      @johnbartz1907 Месяц назад

      @@LifeLongLearner-om8jx I agree if south is full you get east and west but I didn't see that on his roof, after mid day east barley produces, and before sun noon west doesnt produce much either, so whatever east and west you have will produce half what that same amount would south facing
