- My review of LanternSmith's second generation Spinoptic LED contact poi! LanternSmith released these glow poi earlier in the year without really announcing it, but they've made a few upgrades from the first generation Spinoptic Poi and I wanted to cover both the changes as well as whether they're a big improvement for the product.
You can find Spinoptic poi at www.lanternsmit...
Upgrade kits are available at www.lanternsmit...
Spinoptic Poi are LanternSmith's entry into the LED and glow poi market and one of the few contact poi options currently available there. They are currently the only available LED contact poi that have lit tethers so you can see the entirety of the poi as they're spinning.
In this second generation, Lanternsmith has offered a native color changing option to the poi so that you can get them to glow in colors other than white without having to add a filter. In addition, the poi have three brightness modes and a battery indicator that flashes when you select your color mode.

Finally. I hated having to take 15 minutes and lose 3 tiny screws just to change the color. Glad that they figured out how to change color filters without having to take the head apart. The battery option is pretty nice, too. Wish I had a set!
Thanks for the review Drex! I was checking these out as my next set of poi, i'm a bit worried about the plastic part though, since i do throw a lot.
Stretching the tethers works absolute wonders on these!
Are these still available??
Thanks for your both reviews Drex ! i buy it with your code this week-end... :D Hope I will not have trouble with international transport & dammages... (more expensive each time I have to return / receive..)
Peace, and enjoy the Flow ;)
Does anyone have a pair of these? What is the diameter of the tethers? I think I am going to try making a pair and am trying to source materials.
its possible make orbital with this poi ?
Nope, the handles are fixed. Hyperloops are ok, orbitals are a no go.
OK thanks
RadioPlastic has it right--these cannot do orbitals as there is no bearing in the handle.
I was pleasantly surprised how well they handle tangles. That said, the tethers really grip on each other when they contact. I should find out about that upgrade kit.
