@@mikes4x4garage A lot of shortcuts on the mods it would seem. Plus likely some abuse. Dead give away are things like not tuning your super or extending brake/abs lines ect.
@@BC-oh5gw a lot of shortcuts it seems, but also a lot of high quality stuff too. Kinda weird. Almost wonder if the previous owner was an oil field guy and didn’t really give a damn.
Man I imagine that Tacoma has Seen some things... I bet there are some good stories out there about it... That being said, absolutely mind blowing this thing had that much money dumped into it only to trash it .... Ones mans trash another mans Treasure... LOVING the series..
Hey, Im not sure if you read comments, but I would highly recommend replacing that brake booster! The brake fluid will deteriorate the rubber diaphragm and can lead to failure. You could lose brakes and thats no fun.
Brake fluid is bad stuff. I had the drivers side of my 2005 4runner repainted due to Les Schwab failing to tighten a banjo bolt after a brake fluid flush.. I also got all new front calipers, pads and rotors!
Very harsh on everything, make sure wash it off of everything it spilled on as it will also deteriorate paint and eat away anything in its way. Also no fun
Love this series a lot man. You’re very knowledgeable and good at explaining what you are doing. I like your tips and tricks, I’m learning alot from watching. Keep up the good work
Good job man, randomly started watching these today. Someone really didn't give a shit about their truck good lord. How does it get so bad in only a few years and after having so much money thrown at it.
I've watched this whole series now... 1. Please do more like this! I was sad that the third gen had to go.... 2. How could this truck have been that bad?! 3. How so many miles!? 4. Amazing work Mike.
I’ve been watching since you brought it home. My god, the neglect and abuse is amazing. You know what “neglect” is not the right word, You have to try and go out of your way to end up with a truck will all of these issues. this is amazing. Good on you for rescuing and correcting these mistakes.
Been watching your series. Appreciate the knowledge and humor you’ve got. Still floors me how much the previous owners trashed this relatively new truck…
I had a similar scenario happen with the 1 way valve except it was a crank case pressure regulator on my 1972 Mercedes diesel that when it failed, it allowed diesel fuel to leak directly into the crank case, practically making my oil water, and began to burn excessively, so bad in fact about a 10 mile trip would burn over 3 quarts of oil from the viscosity becoming close to water. It makes a lot of sense that even small amounts of brake fluid would absolutely destroy your valve stem seals and piston rings.
After watching your content and the way you are kicking ass rebuilding this gem. I have NEVER and I mean NEVER felt so relieved knowing that I took paranoid level care of all my vehicles until seeing how poorly the last owner took care of this truck and a TOYOTA no less one of the most easily maintained vehicles out there. Great job on the progress hope to continue seeing more like this on your channel!
this video is a few years old, but by the looks of it the tool you're using is a phoenix systems v-5 DIY. My dad actually owns that company, so that's pretty cool to see you using it
Love how your videos are paced. Not to verbose but not too short. If you keep your videos in this current format and the projects this cool, you’ll be at 100K followers within a year.
Mike -- just I stumbled on this and read everything from the time you picked the Taco up: LOVE it! Long as you're willing to get it in good running order, you got a great deal. Love the "Pre-Damaged" body work -- get the mechanicals in shape and forget the body -- take it off road and do whatever you want to it! Sheet metal doesn't matter -- it's the mechanicals that matter. Take it on the Rubicon Trail, take it in the woods, beat it on rocks -- the body damage is already done. Don't worry about that! Just the way it runs. Good luck -- I'll be following the work, and the fun you have wheeling it afterward!
Great series! Should have done a u bolt flip while you had it off. Can’t wait to see the armor build! Just bought a C4 front bumper and my husband got a BAMF front bumper. Waiting on rear bumpers to come in. I have Trail Gear sliders and my husband has Marlin Crawler.
Just watched all 4 episodes in a row and really impressed with your determination to fix that Taco up. Y'all remind me of me and my buddies back in high school with my old truck. Always doing trans swaps, a motor swap, whatever it was. Really enjoy watching the hard work go into fixing that thing up. Can't wait to see it all finished up!
I don't ever comment much and usually just watch my recommends on youtube, but this series has me hooked I really enjoy your content and hope you make lots more like this!
Curious why the ladder bars are there to begin with? You might find you need them or a anti-wrap bar. When my truck had the supercharger it wrapped the axle baad, and even worse with the V8 I now have stuffed in it! I'm putting chevy 63s in my rig, and defiantly plan to throw a anti wrap bar in shortly after. Great work on the truck, can't believe how cheap you got it, even with the issues.
Well I guess time will tell. I think that the lift blocks also worked like a lever on the axle. I’m hoping that removing those will help. And thank you!
Have a Tacoma myself want to make a channel on making it and over lander taco, The only problem I don’t know where to start and where to get the money lol watching you put out these videos so fast is amazing keep it up man I look forward to your vids
I’ve heard of content creators getting copyright strikes for background music. I’d hate for that happen, so just something to think about! Love this series.
Looking good. As soon as I saw that brake booster full of fluid I thought the same thing that the fluid could have been getting sucked into the engine. No bueno. You scored a nice rig to bring back to life 🤘
I like how loud your torque wrench clicks when reaching the proper torque spec. Share the Amazon link for that please, since the one I haven't isn't loud enough.
If you stagger your wire splices it makes it much less bulky when you wrap them and makes it much less likely to have any issues later from rubbing at all.
They aren't cheap, I think the Ironman 4X4 Raid bumpers (front and back) look the best. PS : I am enjoying this content series. I really wanted to do what you are doing now(buying/customizing a used Tacoma) but I chickened out when seeing used Taco prices and ended buying new. Looks like you found a decent reasonably priced platform that you have the skills to fix.
Lol so far this has been entertaining! I was looking up superchargers for my Taco and came across your channel. If you are still looking for those sliders, BAMF is out in Benicia. I got some for my truck 4 years ago and they look sweet.
I love you showing your mistakes. I'm a DIY garage mechanic as well and do the same stupid shit like you did with that brake master, regularly getting to clean up messes like that. Now I invest in pig mats to put under just incase, lol.
Mike , another AWESOME video!! Hooked on your video’s…your amazing! You basically saved that taco from the junk yard. Your truck Deserves a Name!👌 I have the 2017 4x4 sport,,love it,, great trucks..You brang that truck back to life,,,looking forward to the finished product.. You should gear yourself towards opening your own Business.
I like how this guy is low key an alcoholic while building this truck. 🤣
Beer and wrenches are equivalent to milk and cookies.
It’s hard for me not to drink while working on anything with my hands 😂
You got to drink to deal with most things nowadays.
How else do you expect him to stay hydrated?!
thats why they make light beer so you can drink them while working on stuff and not get drunk just a slight buzz
Awesome series. I’d love to hear the backstory on how this thing ended up being so trashed.
Soon I’ll talk about it. But In reality I don’t know too much.

Thanks!!!
This is the type of stuff I love watching on RUclips
best rebuild on yt

Love that you show the mess ups. All about the trouble shooting
I just binged this entire series, I love this build, please continue to update!!
Love that you use heat shrink. Most knuckle bangers will use electrical tape👍
Was interested in the build. So far you guys are bringing this beauty back to life.
"yep that's just filled with brake fluid.... That's f*cked up!!" LMAOOOO had me crying laughing
"plus what's on the ground we have about a half gallon" HAHAHAHAHAHHAA
I like how y’all either have a fridge full of different beers or you all brought individual beers.
great video, you’re informative and funny, and don’t show us too much boring stuff.
Good job man, randomly started watching these today. Someone really didn't give a shit about their truck good lord. How does it get so bad in only a few years and after having so much money thrown at it.
I learned more about trucks watching your videos then I have my entire life... haha. Cheers
Watching that brake fluid get everywhere hurt, but then I remembered the paint on this truck is far from perfect. Gotta love a beater.
" if you like drinking cold beer, grab yourself one "
Dont have to tell me twice.
Love this channel hope you guys don’t change much , love the genuine content!

You should include the cost of beer into your total build price, that’s where the real money is going lol. Good work man! Looking great
I’m loving this rebuild.
Jordan definitely is a star..
Not sure how I stumbled upon this little Taco salvage but I'm glad I did! Can't wait for more updates, dude!

awesome that you take the time to document this. I couldn't imagine the work in rebuilding the car alone then doing video editing.
