- The Tacoma is back in the shop for a lovely job today. The throw-out bearing is a huge task that requires the transmission to be removed completely. Not a fun job!
Follow along and I hope you like the video. Check out the Insta @mikes4x4garage
More content coming soon! Don’t forget to sub!
For your sake, I hope nothing else goes wrong on the truck. For my sake, I hope you keep showing us all of the ins and outs of the Tacoma so I can learn more about mine haha. Love the content man
😂👍🏻 thank you!
My auto shop teacher used to always say, whenever you are ANYWHERE near the throwout bearing (say when the engine is out) you should always replace it! What a PITA to replace. But then, you wouldn't have had such great content! 😅
Yeah, I guess I didn’t make it clear enough in the video but the throw out bearing was replaced 5,000 miles before this video along with the clutch and flywheel
I always work on my own vehicles and I almost considered taking my truck to a mechanic to get the clutch done but now I want to do it myself this video was very motivating
Glad I could motivate you! Just take your time and you’ll have it back together in no time
Man that pan flute song when you pull into the garage gave me some flash backs of a dark classroom with a TV getting roles in on a cart. Had me searching for where I had heard it from for a good part of an hour. Took me all the way back to the 90s, a bangin into to a BBC educational show "Eyewitness".
Yes! Super throw back!
The music in the background is so diverse! Dope!
Thank you, I listen to a little of everything.
It's been entertaining watching this project
watching these videos makes me want to go and fix my tacoma up but nothing is wrong with it. 🤣
Man, you need to make more content. I’ve watched this whole series and enjoyed it all.
Working on it!
Dude, I freaking love your videos. They are so damn informative and entertaining!!
Don't stop doin your thang!🤘🤘
Thank you Taylor!
Upload more I enjoy your content
Watching his gives me terrible flashbacks. A friend of mine and I were hired to do a transmission swap on a Toyota Previa. We did the whole job without a transmission jack and that was the most awkward, annoying thing we ever did. We were only 18 and 19 and had limited tools. We decided never to undertake repairs without some semblance of proper tools and equipment. Keep up the great work!
I don't even own a truck and never plan on owning a truck yet here I am. I'm also subbed.
I’m sure you’re doing your best and have a regular job outside of RUclips but I’d love to see you upload more often
That’s insane! My 2017 Tacoma is doing the same thing! Glad I found this lol. Gotta order that throw out bearing now
That Eyewitness theme is SLAPPIN!
got all the jams playing in the background and caught me off guard with atmosphere! rig lookin mint!!!
Thank you!
It sucks that something keeps coming up but at the same time I love it cause you have the best content! Lol
Respect for this job in the garage 👍🏿😁
Truly inspiring, for real.
I wish I had your ambition and intelligence when I was your age! Keep it up! You're my favorite channel!
Thank you Michael !!!
I love what you’ve done with the taco. Your an inspiration.
Thank you 👍🏻😬
Excellent choice of beer, and truck...thx for sharing....NJ
my boy back with a banger
Yessir!
I love your stuff. Reminds me of me and my friends back in our 20s working on stuff. Now everyone has a wife and kids. This summer I was able to steal them for a couple weekends and we did a build on my f150. Kings 35s bumpers chase rack. I think I might of been having a midlife crisis but god it was fun to be wrenching together again
That’s awesome, luckily I have a few buddies around living that bachelor life for now!
I like how you tackle different projects than most Toyota related stuff. There’s so much pointless overpriced off road mod stuff out there so it’s cool to see this kind of content which can actually help and it’s fun to watch!
Although the music is cool be careful for copyright protection. YT is strict on it. Better to just use non related royalty free stuff.
Yeah it’s just what plays in the background and I haven’t had an issue yet, but you’re right it’s just a matter of time ⏰
Ah yes, the throw out bearing squeak. It will most likely come back as the issue is wear on the aluminum shaft it rides on. Love the music🤣
Probably…
i cant get enough of these videos!!!
Awesome video! Been watching since you started working on the Taco. You are one Heck of a mechanic. Keep the vids coming! 👍😁
Thank you Joe!
Man I just binge watched the whole Taco journey and I'm just now seeing that you don't have as much subscribers as I taught originally! I hope that changes soon bro you are really entertaining to watch and I wish you luck with everything! 💪🏼
I've got the same issue with my truck. I haven't been able to justify spending that much time to get rid of a squeak though lol,
Cool. That's a lot of work for a bearing. She's in top shape now. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Dave!
Man I missed your videos! Always so happy to see you post!
Thanks Tanner!
Great video. Mines starting to slip with 155k on stock clutch.
Same thing happened with my Tacoma but I love these damn trucks! Nothing else will take you as far out into the mountains with 300,000+ Miles on the clocks! Will never sell my 2002
Indeed.
Great content, always excited to see something new pop up, perfect ending "let's go get a beer". I just put those Morimoto lights on my Tundra, fogs too, and they are spectacular.
They’re super bright!
I love the Tacoma content, you make everything look so easy! 😅
Thank you!
Same truck as yours, but only hearing squealing while in gear and only while moving with the clutch released. Not in neutral or when clutch depressed. Greased front u-joints, someone said it could be the sealed u-joints, but I really don't think so. Sounds clutch related
EYEWITNESS INTRO MUSIC!! love your videos. Keep it up!
Thank you!
Pretty impressive my man!
As always, you're providing great content. I hope you continue to grow here on RUclips!
Thank you!
yup cant forget the beers lol
Never never!
Love your videos, Mike. btw at 10:52 you'll notice you forget to tighten one of the exhaust bolts. Hope you got that and we just didn't see it on camera.
I got it! Camera tomfoolery!
I knew you can fixed it you been doing great job for this Taco! Salud for every beer !
Cheers!
What you should do next is a vanagon syncro! (A vw van that that had a 4x4 option for in the late 80s) so fun!
I would even like a vw bug. Those things can be cool
Thanks so much for the video dude. This was super helpful in changing the clutch on my 3rd Gen
Good to hear my friend!
Thanks for sharing your skills! Love the videos👊🏼
Also, is that a 94 cr250? Very nice. I did a 2000 CR250 build for vital mx a few years back and I always love seeing old cr’s still being ran
That’s an incredible video buddy! Happy wrenching.
The vine boom made me laugh
Great videos super knowledgeable thanks again man!
Thanks for watching!
Nice video. However I had to do this on my second gen and the issue isn’t really the bearing. Let me explain. URD sells a kit to repair the sleeve the throw out bearing rides on it just bolts over the old sleeve and they include an oversized throw out bearing . By just replacing the bearing I think after several months you might have the same issue . Maybe I missed the part if you felt that sleeve for any fine gruves . It eats those bearing for breakfest . Hence the repair sleeve.
This Tacoma has seen it all
Absolutely!
For real I always hope you posted a new video when I get on but then at the same time I know that mean something broke lol but love the channel man
Lil jump cut magic turns 6 hours of work into something that looks like fun.
Makes me want to work on cars
It always looks easier on RUclips haha
Nice one, fun to watch, thanks man!
Thanks Chad!!
Excellent work. You have done a great job with that tacoma!
Thank you!!
Nice work
Man my vehicle is doing the exact opposite. Making a horrible squeaking grinding noise when I press the clutch. I thought it was the throw out bearing so I ordered a whole clutch kit with pilot and throw out bearings. Will be here tomorrow. Hope that fixes it
I’m sure it will, it just will take your time!
Now I’m sitting here talking to you drunk and on the run… great song
Yes , yes it is!
every time you post this truck makes me wanna get a tacoma😂 love watching your content
Thank you for watching!
I remember on my old first gen you can do everything right installing the new clutch and sometimes the dam throw out bearing still squeaked.
I almost expected to see it squeak at the end of the video after everything.
Yep. It’s annoying being that the bearing was brand new as well.
Absolutely love the content bro, keep it up please !
I will!
This looked surprising simple
That truck has been a challenge. Lol. Looks good tho, keep up the good videos and enjoy the ride.
Thank you! It has taken all I’ve got 😂
That was awesome! Very informative as always!!
you jinxed it. you now have a jeep project.
Man I wish you were close to me I would pay you to do all the service on my 2016 Tacoma
My 278k mile 4x4 5 speed has been chirping forever. No issues otherwise.
Yeah I think if you can ignore it, I’d just do that
Love these videos! Awesome work! Do your self a favor and pickup some impact sockets, don't use chrome on a high torque, lol.
Good video man
Great vid man awesome
Love the Playlist
Great vid. Thanks for posting it.
Thanks for watching!
Love your videos !!! Post more mate
Thanks Edwin!
I've had this squeak too in my 5spd first gen and was searching forum after forum to find the culprit and I read nothing helpful. This video popped up on my recommended and I decided that I would watch it. I always assumed when you depressed the clutch and it made a squeak THEN it was the throw out bearing. I never would I have thought of it differently had I not watched this video.
Dang I just saw this for sale on Facebook market place. Didn’t know you were so close. Good luck with the sale mate!
Thank you!
Love your videos, man.
You should also try Pacifico beer it’s smooth and refreshing 👍
Project ideas:
-old toyota hilux 4x4 1980
-old ford f150 4x4
-toyota land cruiser
Good ideas
Great job , Mike
Love the videos
I have a 2018 Tacoma access cab. I Love it 😎
Put in some Alpine speakers not too long ago, sounds pretty decent.
Also hoping to do some cosmetic mods in the near future.
Great Truck
Awesome!
@@mikes4x4garage Only flaw is the gas millage lol oh well.
Your truck is pretty cool as well by the way.
so what you're telling me is the Eyewitness intro music is royalty free
Yes, and I want everyone to know.
Let's go Mike!
Let’s go!!!
Love it man ❤you’re the best
Thank you ray!
Nice work👍
I wonder how much a job like that would have cost you had you taken it to someone. As others have commented on here, you have a great attitude. I really enjoy your videos!!
Thanks Jim! Usually I think people quote around $1500 for a job like this ? Plus parts
Dealership: $2800 as of today. Got the chirp about a week ago. It's getting a damn std knowing that it'll be back even after I get it fixed. @@mikes4x4garage
You made it look easy peasy and excellent video. You need a new project. How about a first generation Tundra 4x4 ?
Sure!
Third payment in on a used 2017 Tacoma...and my throwout bearing is starting to make the squeak...dammit.
exciting stuff!
would be cool to see you do a bronco!
How about a Bronco B2. People hated those, I think they’re cool looking though! Much cheaper than the new ones too 😉
Hey Mike you're doing good job on your videos and RUclips has given you a chance to grow. But do NOT put any Alcoholic Beverages on your videos. When you put them on your videos RUclips algorithm will not put your videos on recomended videos an stuff. Keep up good work.
RUclips is the worst.
I hope not, but that’s a good point. I’ve seen RUclips nuke others videos for less
Naw dude do your thing and listen to nobody
Just noticed no pilot bearing on this model ? I just did my clutch on my 2001 Tacoma 4x4 the pilot bearing took a shit, new clutch only had 50k on it, wondering if the previous owner forgot or decided to not change the pilot bearing for lack of a tool to do it? Fortunately was able to get the old pilot bearing out, but it could have been a real hassle if the bearing came apart, would have need to to put a weld on the bearing race to to shrink it so the race would drop, but all went well with blind hole puller. We are at 240k on our 3.4L with a brand new ASCO clutch ....!
Amazing video. I have subscribed. One day if this happens to me I could probably tackle it because your walkthrough.
Also I wonder what kind of parts you could find just chilling around the property 😂
Haha there’s parts scattered here and there I won’t lie 😂
NEW VIDEO YEEEESSSS
Yessir!
7:15 so that's why they call it a THROW OUT bearing 🤣🤣
Love the taco!
9:56 pro move lmao
yo mike put some tint on that taco!!
What do you do for a living?! Love watching your videos and your overall problem solving framework!
Thank you! I am in the Coast Guard!
Full send it
Damn dude you earned my subscription for this one. I gotta do the clutch on my trd offroad and you showed exactly how to do this perfectly like a professional tech would. Great job man. Did you torque the bell housing bolts though? 🙈😂
Thank you for posting this video.. love it. I liked how you had labeled all the parts, nuts and bolts that came out. Weird question - where did you get the small rubber grommet in the shift rod that is right below the shift knob which is keeping the leather cover together?
Bought it on Etsy 👍🏻
