      Money doesn’t fix mental health though does it? So financially life saving maybe but not going to manage mental health. Being stuck inside and not being out in society or socialising at all is far worse for mental health in the long term,Unless someone is using pip to pay for private therapy to help which would be a good use of it to help things improve.
      Nhs mental health provisions are horrendous, very long waiting times and for things like cbt usually only 6 sessions offered.

      @@jaynekittycat9252Exactly. After losing my Mum to cancer at the end of October last year I only just started receiving grief counselling. I also have a niece with an eating disorder and sometimes she’s waiting 6 months to get the help she needs. And doesn’t this government realise that they’ve created a mental health crisis due to what covid restrictions did to a lot of people?….Then we have young people also having a job finding affordable housing and well paid jobs, which also adds to the problem. This country has been decimated by the Tories, and rather than the government accepting responsibility for this, they’d rather scapegoat the sick and disabled along with immigrants and refugees.

My daughters had major mental health issues with misophonia. I begged for her to have some support since she was 8 years old and they refused to help me at all until she got to 16 and is now such a wreck that she’s not achieved nearly as well as she could have. She’s now heading into uni with little to no support. She’s had two bouts of six sessions therapy in the last few years and all the work they do achieve gets undone the second the sessions stop because they stop wrll before it’s possible to change even the slightest mental health issues in six weeks. Most mh cases stem from childhood trauma. Do they honestly believe we can overcome that in six sessions?

      I'm not saying it should but if you are not fully competent opportunities and job retention are likely to be low. This is where real help could come in to support people in work. A majority of managers have poor skills managing people and poor understanding of disabilities. Workers have little recourse if treated unfairly or proving discrimination. Sunak could make a real difference by removing barriers to work, and enforcing disability rights at work, not threatening people with sanctions. He is going about this in the wrong way!

    Thanks for all you do Stuart , it's appreciated. After Sunak made his speech I thought there would be outrage...sadly I was mistaken , and genuinely left aghast at just how cruel society's attitude towards the sick and disabled has become. Some of the things I have heard people say on MSM has sickened me. I suffer with chronic physical health and mental illness and both have gotten significantly worse since Sunak's speech and the seeming hunger of many politicians and talking heads for those of us who are sick and disabled to live in abject poverty or worse. This was a shocking low for the nasty Tories , but the fact that Labour have not condemned this assault on the most vulnerable just shows there is no Labour party left. The party that created the NHS , which was once the envy of the world and the safety net of a Welfare System , to be saying they may be even tougher when it comes to Benefits is soul destroying. I foolishly hoped those of us who sadly need the help of the benefits system would be treated with more compassion , or would at least not have to live life like a prisoner on death row , not knowing the date of your execution but always aware of it in your mind. My heart goes out to everybody here , I feel your pain and can only send out my love , they can't take that away x

      There is a UBI pilot scheme in Wales for youths who have left the care system , I'm not sure weather that scheme was successful ?.
      The point of the UBI is to narrow the equality gap & to raise those out of poverty , I think that in some ways UBI is a marvellous idea & it would straighten & simplify the entire benefit system .
      In meanwhile if the Government continue down it's current path , there will be devastational knock on effects not only for the claimants , but also for local business & services , the Government haven't thought this down to the bone ,long term major civil unrest will cost the Government far more then the current benefit system .

    Good job stu thanks. I’m a highly complex case with issues from anxiety and agoraphobia going back a lifetime to developing rheumatoid arthritis and multiple secondary conditions to that ten years ago, it’s impacted my lungs and I’m now diagnosed with rheumatoid lung disease and multiple other lung diseases going on too. Claiming wasn’t easy because I became crippled up so fast with the RA. I’ve just been thru reassessment, you would think with life limiting disease at 47 I wouldn’t have so much a hard time but I do. I really hope we take the tories out, sorry but sunak is not gonna care about the vast majority of the population, we ain’t rich or posh enough.

    Good breakdown. I got on my local Easibus yesterday which stops at my home rather than having to make my way to the local bus stop. People were chatting about it and some were outraged and some didn't care at all (fit pensioners). It was rather concerning as these had been influenced and believed that it was aimed at mental health (drug addicts and alcoholics) only.
    I've recently had my mobility upped to enhanced after mandatory reconsideration (told them that I would appeal and I would win if they didn't grant it) but they fail to see that pip mobility isn't just for out and about. If rent is way above local housing allowance and you need a flat or bungalow then paying rent does increase your mobility as I can't access either the kitchen or bathroom at present and my home isn't suitable for a stair lift. I'm just praying that social housing comes through or I will be needing another £500 a Month for rent. No 'voucher' will help with that!

      I was speaking to a pensioner today who said pretty much all you heard too. There's alot of junkies around here and losing a leg through injecting is seen as great news because they'll get top benefits. Hi Stu, I hope you’re keeping well. I was waiting for your assessment on the new so called plans Sunak and his government had for PIP and fit note benefits. It’s more than a little concerning waiting to see exactly how they wish to implement these benefits. For people like me it’s just more stress on top of stress, which no one can afford in this climate. Long waiting lists for Hospital appointments and even GP visits which now mostly happen by phone. We have such a broken system and now this government want to make it even more difficult for people with health conditions. Also quite worrying that Labour has yet to make a stand we can trust on the entire system. Thank as always for your time and patience over covering these concerns for people like myself. You are invaluable as are the organisations who work so hard to support us. Take care, also the same goes to everyone who is on this channel. Take care, we are not alone.

    I work for the NHS Admin Clerical staff. I work 30 hrs a week for £11.44 which is now minimum wage. I get the disability rate of PIP but not the daily living element. I have Multiple Sclerosis. This started in 2002 and has progressively worsened. I had to move in 2023 to UC from Tax Credits and go to my local job centre to prove who I was. I was treated as unemployed in my UC Journal. Asking me to go for training etc to improve my job skills. I’m nearly 60. I am disgusted at the Government for going after disabled people. My PIP assessment was done by a paramedic. Hi Stu. A fantastic video. The whole system has turned into a mess. Something has to be done constructively about the 18 - 24 year olds. It's not right. Not that kind of number. I'd like to know what's happened to this group in the education department and has the education system simply let them down and left them on the scrap heap. The problem is, I hear no mention that the Job center process needs reforming and the whole work coach idea is flawed and needs changing. The whole process of going to the job center needs to be axed. it should be done via telephone and for the 18 -24 year olds, jobs which pay well, and have stability should be offered to them in the UC center online. No excuses. None of this having to post on multiple job sites. it should all be done for them via the work coach who actually gets them a well paid job with stability. They should not be treated like trash by these unskilled work coaches.

    I thought the rules for PIP was that you had to have a diagnosis but revceiving PIP wasn't thoroughly dependent on your diagnosis but rather the way your diagnosis affects your ability or inability to carry out certain tasks .

    • @NothingByHalves
      @NothingByHalves Месяц назад +1

      The rules for PIP are that the assessors and decision makers have a minimum 65% failure rate. They are actively trying to hide the disability stats as much as they are hiding the long term increase in excess deaths. They make up the rest of the rules as they go along.
      I've been through two work capability assessments through claiming universal credit. I deferred the second assessment as the nurse told me I needed a diagnosis and a treatment plan otherwise the outcome was the same. I was then told a few weeks later that if I deferred my assessment again I would lose my claim altogether and a diagnosis wasn't necessary, but it was based on how my condition affects me. After the second assessment the decision maker told me "universal credit is a benefit aimed at helping you find work or prepare for work whether or not you are fit for work right now. You will be able to keep your fit note and at no point should you feel you are stressed if you are not capable of performing the activities they give you". This was followed by being assigned to a manager who did everything she could to get me sanctioned, fit note cancelled, change of condition rejected and new fit note rejected. Eventually the WCA process started again and I have a third assessment next week. They just don't want you to get as far as tribunal where most of their decisions are overturned.

      No, not at present at least.
      The current phrasing is along the lines of;
      PIP looks at how your illness/disability affects you, and how you carry out essential day to day tasks. It is not dependent on a diagnosis, especially as 2 people with the same diagnosis can have wildly different care needs.
      Think simple skin cancer, caught early, minor surgery and minimal chemo,
      Vs
      stage 4 breast cancer, found late, radical mastectomy and multiple lymph nodes removed, intensive chemo and radiotherapy, hysterectomy to stop oestrogen production fueling the cancer growth, so instant menopause and all the associated difficulties...
      But both conditions are still cancer so affect you in the same way. 🤦

    I applied for Pip in January 2024, I started limping early 2023 & going down hill rapidly. I was a carer & worked for a local bakery. First I packed in work as daily I was struggling to cope with pain & also caring for my mother in law whom lived with us got too much, she decided that she should go into a nursing home but unfortunately she passed away before that could happen. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my hips and need a hip replacement and I also have really high blood pressure which is up & down regularly even with 2 medications to keep it stable. The stress waiting for the decision is getting to me and doesn’t help. I had citizens advice bureau help to fill in the form over zoom as I can’t get in to the office which is upstairs. Thanks for posting your videos & keep campaigning for justice for people like myself. I wasn’t shocked by this information as I suspected just as the man Andrew said. I will let you know when I get a decision but it probably won’t be the outcome I believe it should be but I will then take it to appeal

    The 20-meter rule was to cut down on full mobility awards. But if you have mixed mobility between 20 meters to 50 meters they give you the lowest rate when you should get the full rate.

      It’s always the ideology behind all of this. When you think of how many millions, maybe billions has been spent on endless changes in process. Then the private contractors like ATOS Capital, Serco, masses of appeals many of us going to the NHS more, due to the stress on body & mind. They’ve also spent huge sums on court cases to prevent people winning appeals or addressing discrimination in their policies. Much of that money could have been used to help us, with plenty left over!!

    Is this PIP Reform if it comes into play, will it only apply to new claimants, or will it effect existing claimants. I was awarded enhanced mobility last march, standard remains for the daily living. Its an ongoing award, with a light touch review in Ten years. Very confused Stuart. I was also told i won't need an assessment.

    But, from my experience as a sufferer of disabilities for the last 24 years. It's all be design. (and, just to add, 6 days after you video, a 12 week consultation? Now being implemented? I guess they already had it all in place before the consultation began? something like, years ago. They do not like the disabled).
