Congratulations , thankfully you were able to get a job quickly . The job market is down right now with Ghost jobs and the H1B visa program , hopefully it won't get worse with orange man in charge. Best of luck on your new role .
Kevin sorry to hear you got laid off twice.i don’t know what’s up with the job markets cuz is not just in IT their laying people off is other jobs as well too. many store closing.etc. Almost seem like these companies have something up their sleeve like using AI to replace many jobs.but I’m glad you found work pretty quick.
Tech is heavy in layoffs lately, great field but it’s just a cluster fuck right now! Get into Tech Sales, plumbing, healthcare etc and you’ll always have a job with likely no layoffs. And let’s not forget over saturation of highly skilled techs flooding the hiring boards which makes things very very difficult.
I was laid off 3 times as a Junior C++ Developer. Now I have 3+ years of experience and have no idea how to get an interview at least. Thanks God, I have a job right now, but I have to find a new one with a visa sponsorship anywhere in Europe in order to stay there and do not return back to Ukraine (currently I'm employed remotely in Ukraine, but located in Europe). Honestly, I'm losing the f*cking hope. Have no idea what I need to write in my resume and LinkedIn in order to get an interview. I rewrote my resume 10+ times and got only one interview 5 months ago. Maybe one day I just become an Uber driver...
I am in the middle of dealing with a layoff since nov 27th and it is exhausting, I didn't realize there was such a thing as layoff burnout... utterly exhausted now.
Just my opinion, I believe 2025 is going to be a rollercoaster ride without the seatbelts. College students majoring in STEM, are in for a rude awakening. My cousin recently graduate with a B.E (Bachelors Engineering) in Mechanical Engineering and he's having a hard time finding work in his field. Mind you, this guy did four internships (3 months each, non-paid) He went on to get his CompTIA A+ cert. Luckily, he found a full time entry level help desk position at his local university, paying $15 an hour. I'll say this, nobody and I mean NOBODY is safe. I don't care if you have a BS or master's in STEM. STEM degrees are becoming oversaturated and worthless. Pretty scary times we're living in. Kevin, I wish you my blessings.
Even accounting majors are struggling. I was studying IT originally but switched to accounting, I didn’t left long with IT because I am really bad at programming and just could stick with it as it frustrated me. So I switched to accounting and couldn’t find any entry level jobs in my MCOL area. Accounting is facing massive outsourcing in some areas do entry level work is hard to get into depending where you live. Local employers can’t you to have a 4 year degree with several years of experience to do an AP/AR job lol. I’m switching out of that and going back into healthcare which I use to do lol. My recommendation would be not to invest in an education unless it’s free and you already have a job in a field.
Congratulations once again 🎉boss...you didn't give up so i won't give you till i land my first job role...Thank you for everything you do. 🙏🏻🙏🏻God bless.
