My favourite moment in this video? Watch for the smile on Andy's face at 1:34 when he mentions he was able to run for 45 minutes outside. Stay strong, mate! You have done such a great job to get back to fitness. This journey will have inspired so many.
Good to hear your thoughts and thanks for the shout out. Your initial impressions align fairly well to me. For my "shoeoff" video I ran in the Streakfly & NEXT% 2 both at my marathon pace (here I did 7:00 min/mile) for about 5K each then 2 three min efforts at my 5K/10K (5:45-6:05 ish) pace in each shoe. The NEXT% 2 "won" for me both times - not just in the numbers (fraction lower HR in NEXT% 2) but also on feel. Basically I just preferred the more cushioned, more responsive ride in the NEXT% 2. A lot of "ground feel" in the Streakfly and a bit slappy for me. For once a very light shoe (216g Streakfly compared to 270g NEXT% 2 in our UK 13) was not a factor for me. Atreyu base model v1 is also 216g so might be your equal lightest road shoe? I liked the Streakfly don't get me wrong but figured there is a reason why it is priced at £135 and not £200+ of the NEXT%. I "gave up" on the Rebel 2 as found that too soft and seemed to just persist a quad issue I had which has sort of come back for unrelated reasons! I didn't have the exact same feeling in the Streakfly but I would treat it only as a "race" or "fast" workout shoe and not take it out for easy plods as it were that I did attempt in the Rebel v2. You could but seems the wrong shoe for that and that's aside from what Nike are marketing it as. More testing required from all of us for sure. In a way I felt the Takumi Sen 8 was more "capable" for "tempo" type runs being a bit firmer and a bit more structured. Both are very light (even for us) and weight is not always everything else we would go barefoot! Both I say are narrow in the general scheme of things but stripped down racers largely have to be. The Streakfly however, as you found, does allow wider feet in for sure. Takumi Sen 8 maybe less so. I am rather still trying to workout when I would reach for the Streakfly over the NEXT% but it won't be for my "A" races - even 5K/10K. Could be a good track workout option. I need to go and see. It is also just an option full stop and a lot cheaper one at that but I feel there is a reason why it is cheaper...
I feel like there is a reason it’s cheaper too…. Glad our thoughts align, it’s certainly a good shoe but I’m already thinking it’s no more than a workout shoe, might do a B race in it at some stage to test it but I’d still go with the next%! I’ll try and watch yours later to see the stats 👌
I just got these. First time trying zoomx foam. Ran 3x6:00 at threshold pace. I was amazed how easily I locked into threshold pace and was just hitting pace whole time. Usually I drift around a little, but every 200 was spot on. Feel really good, so good I ordered some Vaporflys v2
just from watching videos and listening to the comments, i am really excited to get this shoe. It fits my 2022 plans perfectly, and also my personal love for old style racing shoes. Compared with my old racing flats, i assume i will feel like flying without a hard shocking landing with each step........and lets not forget, although running mostly slow and long distance, deep in my heart i am still what i always was as a runner.......a 5k track wizard
Yes it’s definitely soft and it feels smooth, which is what zoomx does best 👌 I’m definitely happy with this purchase, it’s going to get a lot of miles hopefully!
Nice first impressions Andy, I always look forward to seeing if the shoe lives up to the hype. There was a lot of hype around this shoe for a long time. It seems to me that more times then not the shoe does not live up to the hype. I truly appreciate the honesty as its so easy to go over the top for clicks and likes. You have never been about that and that's what draws people to you and your channel. Nice to hear the fit is good. How is the construction of the shoe? I've seen several people talking about the construction and how its been real sloppy put together. Thoughts?
Thanks so much Mike 🙏 it’s a good shoe, a solid shoe, but it’s not a world beater nor anything new and innovative, but nice to see them go in this direction, I think it’s the right step. Construction of mine is fine but I often find Nike shoes are a bit sketchy in the paint jobs with paint overrunning onto the midsole etc, it’s no different with these, the Nike paint over the Nike symbol on the bottom of the shoe is well off!
Good review Andy.......now we wait two months for the NB SC Pacer.....as, with the Energy Arc, it might just be the edgy Streakfly beater, that the Streakfly was meant to be.
Thanks for the review. Your foot shape seems to relate to mine so it’s nice to see this fits your foot. I may wait on some other colours before getting this so no rush for me.
Glad to hear that your first impression of this shoe has been very positive. Peg Turbo 2 is one of my all time favourites and Rebel v2 is my shoe of the year 2021; so I will be waiting eagerly to lay my hands (or feet) on this shoe when it drops in my region! 😊👍
Glad to hear I’m not the only one who only got about 200 miles off some Nike shoes with Zoom X. While they last they are great, but the moment Zoom X touches the road it has the resilience of polystyrene. Think I’ll skip the Strekfly after seeing you vid though
Yeah it didn’t last for me sadly, but seeing how well peoples invincibles are lasting I’m hoping they’ve tweaked the formula a bit to be more durable, some people getting over 500 miles out of them!
@@TheFODRunner I have 600 miles in my Invincibles, and they’re not much more compressed now than they were after my first two runs. The Zoomx seems more resilient than it did in the initial Next% release. I have nothing but good things to say about that shoe as a long run easy day trainer, so I’m sure the Zoomx foam has been tweaked a little to provide more resilience.
Really nice detailed first thoughts, I’ve been babying my Achilles / having it flair up after a more spirited runs for weeks. I think having Covid last week was actually helpful as I HAD to rest it for a week solid. And probably best I missed the initial drop of this.. Had a good run last night in Vom16s that’s a real surprise of a shoe - 40 miles in them and they are still bright white 🤷🏻♂️
Great shoe. I have the red crimson. 9.5. Runs about a 1/4 size bigger. Feels like a 9.75 mens if i were to give a guess. A size down may be preferred. I use it for indoor basketball, and it is actually great. I try not to use it outside on concrete because the tread will tear up quick. So for that reason, i wouldnt expect to use this shoe longer than 6 months if running outside.
ZoomX is actually Pebax, which is what all the fast shoes, like the Endorphin Pros have in common. Would be nice to compare this vs the Vaporflys on a track 5k.
I think that mileage in what are effectively niche shoes is not always the best way of looking at. If say you only raced in them and maybe once a month you might get to 100 miles total in a year. After that you might "relegate" them to training only and seek out something else. Alternatively you might use them once for a week for some shortish intervals and maybe warm up and down in something else. As such they may "last" a long time if you only use them for what they are best at - going fast for not overly long.
There mega at £135, like the turbo as you say. I thought about what the vaporfly would be like without carbon, and you've answered. I really think Nike could have gone close to £200 with this, considering the Invincible is £170ish, so credit there. The low weight really interests me, and wonder if they could be potentially faster for that on a half marathon.
I just weighed my size 10s....one shoe is 186g and the other 197g. Brand new not worn yet. They are also miles to long and I've never ever fitted in a size 9.5 in any shoe. The gap from the end of my toe to the end of the shoe is about 20mm!
@@TheFODRunner Yep..the tags in each shoe both say uk size 10 so it's not like they gave me a 9 and a 10. lol. I have photos and I've messaged them. Either way I need a size 9.5 but they are now out of stock...would be nice to have 2 x 9.5s weighing the same. Crazy quality control from Nike.
Hmmm that’s a really good question, I’m honestly not sure at this stage, I’m going to be doing some of those type of workouts over the coming months but it won’t be for a while until I try it…. I’m going to say there would be better options like the speeds or hyperion tempos, but I won’t write it off just yet….
Hi, im a 15 year old runner. I run Cross country and 5-10k road races. Do you think I could use these shoes as a daily trainer? My weight is 48 kg(105 lbs).

If it was the same zoom x that is in the vaporfly’s I think they would be a keeper with the lower stack but unfortunately they’re loads softer
need to replace my ultra reliable rebel v2s as theyre beginning to bottom out. loved them and was my go to shoe of 2021. if the streakfly is softer and more squishy then its gonna be a prob. from the review videos the zoomx looks super squishy. wait for the rebel v3 perhaps?
That’s really interesting to hear! So I did a workout in mine today and I won’t spoil anything but what sort of paces have you tested yours at? I’d get a couple more runs in, a workout for sure just to see what you think!
You race maybe once a month but train daily. Why do we have to compare against carbon plate shoes which might be good for racing but you probably shouldn’t train in every day? A comparison I want to see is the puma liberate nitro.
incredibly curious to hear if this feels more stable (over all paces and with breaking in) on the lateral strike points than then rebel v2. I have flat feet, not so much wider than your average persons. Rebel V2 were frustrating to break in for this reason. I really had wait for the insole to inprint. Even now I still find days where I'm too straight atop the foam. Moments of tilt on lateral impact as well, which is all weird and confusing because th V2's offer such high responsiveness with the ground, its not like I don't feel where points in my mid and forefoot are making the most contact. ...So I'm hoping this mid-foot width of the streakfly provides me the tradition v2 experience without the slippage laterally. If so, I wouldn't be shocked if streakfly gets a cult following for this particular use case. Nike might've sold itself short by defining this shoe as a racer opposed to a lowerstack tempo trainer. Perhaps they had to because it'll prove to be a lot less durable than other in that category :S personally, its questionable that Nike would expect this to succeed as a racer over their pre-existing line up. Seems like the marketing is setting this model up to fail.
That’s really interesting to hear your perspective, I can understand where you’re coming from, I find it slightly more stable than the rebels but my ankles I notice do get sore after use already so it’s something I need to keep an eye on. Tomorrows video talks more about this “tempo/fast” training shoe and my thoughts on this…. I feel it would be much better to market it as a fast training shoe
I love my Next% so I’m not knocking,I didn’t buy into the hype this time around😂 I ll just wait for Andy and others final analysis, my concern being the longevity of the midsole, this makes my takumi sen 8 a lot more appealing even though they are a nats heavier they have the plastic rods and the Cush feels a smidge firmer and makes for a stable and very fast run, also it feels locked in plus I can run tighter turns-but this is just my opinion and I bought them for same price as the streakflys in a promo offer, result😊I would add I don’t think i would have purchased them at full price though !
I’m hoping more people will share their experiences comparing these two as I’m really lacking in that department, but from the shorter strides I did in them I’d agree the foam is slightly firmer in the takumi
I had COVID in early November . Now, I'm wheezing after running the 1st mile (anything faster than an 8min per mile pace) does anyone know how long on average the affects of covid lasts and when wheezing goes away . Thanks
Can’t buy another white shoe. My OG Speeds and Velocity Nitros look destroyed. If I get these I’ll need to wait for a darker colourway. Keep the recovery going!
I managed to get a pair that should arrive today, but I already regret my decision. Definitively an impulse buy and wasted money. I race in Next% and I am focused on Marathons and Halfs. I bought these just for the (few) shorter races of 10k that I do sporadically...but since basically none of you reviewers would probably use them over the next% I will probably return them without even try them....that's a shame but I do not need another training shoe
Nike have a great returns policy, you can try before you send back so give them a go, but yes I’d certainly still use the next% at this stage for racing
@@nicks5491 I really don't know. I still have unopened them and I am waiting to return them, I would prefer them going directly to another runner, but due to the hassle to having to ship it and all, instead of just waiting for the courier to pick them up for return I must ask something over what I paid. Just 10£ to justify. Plus shipping, that I have checked to be 25£ for the cheapest tracked option (10 to 20 days)......so I don't think it would be a good deal for you, also due to many customs delays in parcels between EU and UK after Brexit.....I had several problems myself with parcels not arriving from the UK recently, so I would avoid
Good looking shoe, unfortunately I have too many race shoes to justify it😔 New balance pacer will be out soon as well. Have to fight my impulsive nature on all these new offerings lol

I had COVID in early November . Now, I'm wheezing after running the 1st mile (anything faster than an 8min per mile pace) does anyone know how long on average the affects of covid lasts and when wheezing goes away . Thanks
Hope someone can give you the info you’re after 👌
I'll stick with my Puma Liberate thanks you very much ( you know that shoe you thought was spanish )........
“Liberartay” nitro 🇪🇸
Saucony pro 3> next%?
No idea, I’ll let everyone know when I test them 👌
Can’t buy another white shoe. My OG Speeds and Velocity Nitros look destroyed. If I get these I’ll need to wait for a darker colourway. Keep the recovery going!
Haha I know the feeling! However I find it quite satisfying when they turn a shade of “mud”, shows they’ve been well used 👌
I managed to get a pair that should arrive today, but I already regret my decision.
If they’re a size 10.5 or 11 I’d happily buy em off you if you’re in the uk.
@@nicks5491 I am size 11, but I live in Italy
@@simonecarniglia4870 I mean if shipping is around £10 I’d happily go for it. How much would you want for them?
Did you not like the Tempo Next % I can’t remember 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I recall there was a clip of Andy throwing it in the virtual bin after one run!
@@TimGrose 🤣🤣🤣 it was the insta rant that I remember !!!!
@@TimGrose 😂😂
I can’t of made myself clear enough…. I’ll try harder next time 😂
@@TheFODRunner 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Good looking shoe, unfortunately I have too many race shoes to justify it😔
New balance pacer will be out soon as well. Have to fight my impulsive nature on all these new offerings lol
Yeah I’m really excited for the new balance shoes!! I know the feeling, I’m terrible at fighting those impulse feelings 😂
Funny, was looking at another review on the streakfly last night when my wife asked if I wanted it for an anniversary present, and who was I to say no😉
Seems like a good shoe but maybe not the "new Vaporfly".
That’s currently how I’m feeling about it 👌
What about this vs Liberate Nitro?
That’s a good matchup, this is softer, more stack and less ground contact feel than the liberate
People need to stop comparing the 2. Ones a marathon shoe and the other literally is stamped on it 5k/10k
Yeah but the point of reviewing shoes is to see what they are actually good for and to see how they compare with others that you might also use.
@@TimGrose yeah but they have obvious different uses. Compare them to shoes in the same class 5k/10k. How bout a comparison versus Adios 6? I've been dying to see one video of that
Totally get where you’re coming from…. but don’t forget so many people have asked if they’d choose the next% over the Streakfly as everyone uses the next% from 5K up, so there’s a big cross over with the two shoes
Damn I want it 🔥🤤 at that price I think Nike have/will destroy all competitors
It’s a good price isn’t it 👌
