Received mine yesterday after a long wait. Feel really good walking around the house. Looking forward to giving them a proper blast. See you in Manchester! 👍
thx for the vid. really low it! My best speed rep is run fast for 10 min and slow jog rest 3 min. then next speed run 2 min shorter ( 8 min) and so on.
Consistent reps a sign of a well trained runner in tune with their body. Would be interesting to see if you can replicate that consistency in km times without wearing your gps watch. Idea for a video? :) Thanks for always inspiring Ben!
Hello from Portugal!!! Very happy to hear that you're coming to Madeira!! It is such a beautiful island and I hope that you and Sarah have a good race!!!
Well done for running on concrete paving slabs. I can really notice the difference in my joints from hard packed tarmac on park paths to concrete, the latter is pretty brutal - especially when volume is on the higher side.
Madeira is amazing - just got back from our second holiday there in 6 months. Lots of hiking. The ultra will be very 'interesting' and very stunning. Enjoy!
Agree, this is going to be a tough one. I've tried the Takumi 8 and was mind-blown. So snappy, yet light and soft. Technically the Streakfly seems to lose this battle. But I'm curious about Ben's review!
Great vid! Makes we wish I'd bought a pair of the StreakFly's!. favourite session at the moment is Hill Repeats. Looking forward to Sarahs video this weekend 😁😁
One of my favourite vlogs. Mainly because of where you were running. Often stayed in the Ibis Hotel there when we were in London for a concert at the O2. Miss all of that now that we have moved. A question for you.... We're starting to see a few lower stacked shoes coming in. After a few yrs of running the high stacked , plated shoes, do you think that the Streak Fly will begin a trend of the lesser stacked, lightweight, non plated racing shoes ? Especially as we constantly see new tech in the midsole. Perhaps max cushion and plates aren't always required !
There are already a few options out there.. NB Rebel for example, but when Nike do it, then they get all the headlines and hype things up. I think in reality most runners will stick with the higher stacked / carbon shoes.. but will see as we test this shoe out more!
I have a pair streakfly as well but they don't offer as much energy returns as Vaporfly/Alphafly next%. I will be visiting Riga in 7 days and I will be running almost daily along the Daugava river. I will be bringing Vaporfly next%, Alphafly next%, Asics Metaspeed sky Plus 2 and Adidas adizero prime X.
Lots are not liking these shoes. But I'm with you Ben these a very good. Only done one run but I'm trying them again tomorrow. Good luck with Manchester training 💪
For me and some other reviews have seen, it is not that we don't "like" more that we were expecting them (from the hype!) to be faster/better than the NEXT% but I haven't found that. The price point is a lot cheaper though and sure will work well for many runners and I have enjoyed some training sessions in them but not planning to race in them.
Shoes are always so hard to review.. fundamentally everyone runs differently, so experiences will differ! I don't really tend to watch other shoe reviews and don't want it to influence what my findings are.. but will do a more in-depth review after some more testing for sure and compare them to the other offerings!
@@BenParkes yeah agree. Here is this is a "fast" shoe? Yeah sure. Is this "faster" than some other shoe that is similar in purpose? That is harder to say without specific testing and even then, as you say, often depends on the reviewer's preferences, foot shape, ability etc etc
It surprises me how quiet it is where you are training Ben, are you fairly close to central London where you train? (Sorry I’m terrible with geography!]
This location is always pretty quiet.. you can see it on Strava if you're interested! I guess it's on the edge of what you'd call central London, out east towards the airport.
Hi Ben! I commented on your strava asking about shoes but I asked about the wrong ones haha, I am debating between the Streak Fly and Zoomfly 4, any recommendations? for a trainer. And do either of them have any plates?
So without any carbon plate it must be slower than the Vaporfly/Alphafly? I don't really know the target market for this because you'd still get one of those options if you were after a 5/10k PB
Hey Ben, do you think I could take this shoe for a Marathon? I usually do 10Ks but this april, I'm aiming to run my first marathon - hopefully under 3:20:00 and I don't want to buy vaporflies for just 1 race
I just missed out on getting a pair 😩 I went for the brooks Hyperion tempo instead, have a pair and time for new ones .. Ben have you used the Hyperion tempo? What’s the comparison like? 👍
Another youtuber claims that Streakfly is faster than alphafly? I’m struggling to understand the marketing in terms of a of the streakfly being the ideal shoe for 5K/10K shoe. I would have thought the fastest shoe for 5K/10K is also faster for half marathon and marathon as all of these distances are essentially aerobic, or close to threshold pace. Thoughts please?
Nice shoes, but 27K session on a 5/10K based racing shoe? Shouldn't you use training shoes for this type of sessions??? And do fast short distance sessions on this type of shoe?
That was a great session Ben. I’d be interested in whether your watch said it was productive or not as mine often says ‘Unproductive’ after a hard session!
This is essentially a "racing flat shoe". Some urnners I've heard prefer them. And I think too many are just following a trend to "max cushion" type marathon "race" shoes. I feel it's more about one's conditioning over the kind of shoes on feet. :) Our running form. Our stamina. How strong are we? Do we have joint problems??? If one's form is wrong ....no shoe is going to help at all. ...like magic. :) IMHO ..."proper form" FirSt, conditioning.....see a running coach...why even amateur runners don't find a coach to first get their form right boggles my mind....spending their money on a "rotation of shoes" when they should be getting their form analyzed...form is a lot of any anthlete's success in ANY sport....e.g. Powerlifters, Olympic Weightlifters...moerr then the strength itself.... I see so many runners on the street....bad form, bad knees.....
They wouldn't be unsuitable but there's 'better' shoes for a half or a full, something with more cushioning and a carbon plate helps decrease muscle fatigue. You could absolutely run a full in these, just look at the shoes that elite runners were running until the 4% in 2017 - racing flats with small stacks and no plates.
For sure you could run a marathon in these and I have run marathon in similar shoes in the past, but it would be pretty hard on the body. Modern high stack / carbon shoes are much more forgiving over longer distances... allowing pretty much all runners to run faster for longer. So now the carbon shoes are here, this would be marketed as something for shorter distances where the body doesn't get so beat up.
for sure you can run a half. back in day these would be considered pretty maximal with their stack height. funny that nowadays 32mm is being considered a minimal shoe lol
You seems to bucking the trend at the moment. Other RUclipsrs seem to like them but are less enthusiastic than you. All seem to agree they don’t match up to the Next% even for a 5k. But I can imagine the lightness is a big plus!
The rocket x has a full plate in it, so much stiffer.. it’s a different type of feeling when running. The rocket x would be more versatile and you could use it for longer distances
Great vid as always. Was eagerly waiting this episode. Tiny bit of constructive feedback - the fast cuts around the 1:25 mark are a bit distracting. Love your content - and looking forward to seeing how Sarah got on at AOA!
considering you have good running technique and don't heel strike. What's the point of the zoom x cushioning. My take is another Nike marketing gimmick to sell shoes to those with more money than sense. we have seen it all before with their past models like the air bubble etc. Shoes don't make you run faster, training does.
Have you won any race in your life who cares what you think go ask those elite runners and tell us what they think that would help your channel not your boring thoughts on whenever nike gets out something new this goes for all youtubers that are similar to you ;)
Will be doing the Streakfly vs Vaporfly vs Alphafly video very soon! Helping to chose what's right for you. Should be out Saturday 12th!
Ready and waiting! Nice Sarah squeeze in at the end!
What about streakfly vs dragon fly too 😁
I already have Vaporfly and Alphafly!! 😍
69 comments. Liked the wink 🤣😂
Really wanted to see ur review because i know u have been using the Vaporfly for really long and i have seen ur reviews on other shoes
These shoes are giving me the Pegasus Turbo/2 vibes. Which were my favorite shoes unlike the new Pegasus lineups
“Slow down you idiot” - Sarah 😂🤣❤️

Worth watching the vid.....just for that comment.....fabulous.
Great Video. Thank you to Sara for always going extra mile to get better angles and views.
Hi Ben, Pebax is also the material that the Zoom X foam is made of. But you can also make plates out of the same material. 😉
It is quite versatile.

Love your reviews. They're so hands-on! Can't wait for the Takumi 8 Streakfly comparison!
Thank you!
Didn't tested the streakfly yet but the Sen 8 are my go to shoe for the 5k/10k. They just feel so fast and smooth

That "point 69 😉" made me lol
Very envious of you guys' winters up there in LDN. It's so treacherous here in Wisconsin lol. Rad video as always, Ben! Cheers.
Great video! Thanks for showing off the new shoe and putting some good mileage on them right off the bat! We really enjoy your content - keep it up!
“Slow down you idiot!” Haha, nobody has ever shouted that out to me while running. Although, I’ve been called an idiot many times. 🥺
Great video Ben and Sarah. Hoping to be able to get a pair when they release them
You will be racing Jim Walmsley in Madeira. His first race of the year.
Such an amazing and honest review! Saw your run on strava, you're a true inspiration🙌🙌
Epic shot with the plane taking off as you run past 😱 ✈️
Last month of training before my first Ultra 55k down in Napier New Zealand 😋 last long run today, felling good 👍
Good luck Richard! 🙌
First time to see your video. Love the details you give on your running pace, showing what your standard is etc.
Subscribed for now!
ZoomX foam is actually made of Pebax. Same as PWRUN PB from Saucony.
I’m 35 and my days if nabbing a 5k PR are starting to come to a close lol I’m really excited about this shoe!
I’m looking forward to the sen 8 review, I already have it and I love it, so interested to see what your thoughts are

All the running sections are on a GoPro Hero 10

Did last week 2 times 4k 3.35 + 4x1k in 3.20 as prep for Vienna Marathon
Will test mine today for the first time. Hope this shoes are the one for me on gravel and bad roads where Vapors are spinning and terrible:)

Hey Ben, when will the new plans be available?
They are finished.. just adding the strength parts. Hopefully in 2-3 weeks. Sorry it's taking so long.
They seem to be a bit like the original 4% but without the carbon plate?
Hi Ben! I commented on your strava asking about shoes but I asked about the wrong ones haha, I am debating between the Streak Fly and Zoomfly 4, any recommendations? for a trainer. And do either of them have any plates?
Legend.

What do you mean with the illegal stack height? Wasn't it +40 mm that's been banned?
Ben was referring to the shoe being used as a track race shoe but 20 mm is the maximum stack for the track to be legal. Still 40 mm for the road.
"Slow down then, slow down you idiot!" 🤣🤣🤣
Sorry might be silly question but why wouldn’t they be suitable for half or full marathons? I don’t get how a shoe can be a 5/10k shoe.
Lacks cushioning and probably very light too - it may also wear down quickly due to the less durability of the materials.
It’s also probably a marketing gimmick too like all brands do to improve sales.
