Thanks, great video. I just completed this job on my 2001 Pathfinder. I found that you do NOT need to mess with the throttle body to get that middle plug out. The idle air controller right beneath the throttle body comes off easily with 2 screws, and that frees up the path to the tricky middle plug. Plus, while it's off you can inspect and clean it up for better idling. That was my experience anyway ✌️
Late comment to your video, but thank you for the help! These VQ engines are a pain to work on. I have an infiniti QX4 with literally the exact same setup and this helped a lot, regardless of the camera angles.
only thing is I wish you showed us a little closer how that air manifold came out and back in, but other than that this has been a tremendous help. I've gotta change all the spark plugs on my 2003 Nissan pathfinder and a #5 coil as well so this is exactly what I needed to know
Hopefully some constructive criticism: I felt like your shots could have been a lot better when taking apart the left side. A different angle would have gone a long way here. Maybe over your right shoulder or hanging from above would have been better. You lost me at 16:26 where you put the tube directly in the way of the camera, blocking what you were working on. I have a #4 cylinder misfire code and was investigating replacing the ignition coil myself.
Agreed that it could have been better, but by the time I realized it, the job was done and it was too late. I will have to try a different angle next time. Anyways, all you would have to do to change #4 is remove the air tube, take out the 4 6mm allen bolts holding the throttle body on, and disconnect connectors going to the coil and throttle body. All I was doing when the view was blocked was disconnecting the connectors to the 3 coils, so not much was missed.
I been chasing a rev problem it jumps from 1400 to 2000 and back once its warmed up you can get past it but thats weear i need to be when driving in town any ideas im just abought to pull plugs and replace but dought its the problem thanks good vido buddy a lot of guys wont take on a task so if they see it gives incentive
Thanks for the helpful video...as already mentioned a few of the angles weren't the best but overall a very helpful video...I am changing two of my coils myself soon! cheers.
Thanks for the video. I replaced all (6) ignition coils and spark plugs, and engine runs great. but my fuel economy went from 18 mfg to 15 mpg. Is there any fuel/air mix adjustments to be made?? I did have to remove the housing for the idle air mixture to get at my #4 coil. Is there any adjustment to be made there??? Thanks again for your video.
All adjustments are electronically controlled and cannot be adjusted. However, if there is an air leak from that area, that could cause poor fuel economy.
Hi ... is it possible to show how to replace a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder intake valve tube. I think that is what it is called. Connected to the throttle. Thx if possible.
I'm in the middle of replacing the intake manifold gaskets, hoses underneath, and valve cover gaskets. Gives 100% access to it all that left side is really blocked up. It really isn't a lot of work to remove it just stay organized. Pretty much gauranteed the valve cover to cover hose is broken giving you a vacuum leak if it has never been changed. Dealer said they stock them well since it's so common.
Great video! Did you replace throttle body gasket?? I have misfire code on #3, your opinion.. should I just replace all 6 plugs first to see if that fixes it?? Will be doing this to my '02 this week. Thanks
I would replace the plugs if they haven't been replaced in over 50k miles. You could also swap #3 coil with another one and see if the code moves to that cylinder. That way you know for sure that the coil is bad. If I remember correctly I think the throttle body gasket is reusable.
Tks for your info. Can you tell me what is the gap for the spark plagues @ the auto parts store they said it was@ 44 but I am getting a p0300 code for multiple misfires
If you are sure that is not ignition, that leaves only fuel or mechanical issues. Try swapping parts between cylinders and see it the misfire moves to another cylinder.
where did you get that tester? i wanna get one. good video. i have to replace my cylinder #1. helps me out. good people like you will be rewarded. thumbs up to you
I'm still watching your video I changed #3 coil and plug, worked great. Couple months later #2 cylinder needs new coil o.k. and plug. There's so much in the way, you] y remove the air intake house but I can't see how in the video... Can you make a new video just showing me how or direct me to a video that does??
khelie pascal I pretty much showed all of it. I just cut away to try to figure out how to take the whole air box out but then decided to just take the hose off. I don't have this vehicle here anymore to do another video. #2 cylinder is three tricky one for sure. Good luck!
and were you able to get to cylinder #2 by just taking the house off? I'm not using power tools, just good old fashion pain in the butt tools. lol BTW thank you for replying.
That's my good side. My priority was getting the job done in a timely fashion. Just figured I'd make a simple video to help others since I couldn't find one.

Thanks man changed the plugs on my sons ‘02 Pathfinder. #5 was throwing a cylinder misfire code. Plugs were shot to hell.

That #6, under the throttle body, is why I still haven't done this myself, LOL.
wish i had found this video first, clear to the point and all the steps

I didn't take off the manifold, just the throttle body.
Thank you for this video. Looking in the engine compartment of this vehicle I just got it looked impossible.
My mechanic quoted $600-800 to replace plugs. After watching this, I'm thinking maybe I give it to them.
dude your videos help me learn so much thanks i owe you one !

Same here brother.
What is the solution for no current on coil 6
I am not sure what you mean. No spark on coil 6?

How to solve the coil misfire
Tks for your info. Can you tell me what is the gap for the spark plagues @ the auto parts store they said it was@ 44 but I am getting a p0300 code for multiple misfires
Edgar Zavala .044" should be correct.
Hi I checked my all coils and plugs its working but still misfiring help
If you are sure that is not ignition, that leaves only fuel or mechanical issues. Try swapping parts between cylinders and see it the misfire moves to another cylinder.
When you tested the coil with tick tracer did put it right on the coil block or the connector, I assume the coil block?
Yes, on the coil block. But usually if you just get close, that is good enough.
any more videos on this vehicle like oil leaking problem's and thank you for the info... it help me not taking all the upperparts off
J Lopez this isn't my vehicle so only this job. Sorry.
I think 90% of people that have a Pathfinder would love to know the answer to this question.
Just changed all 6 coils on same engine, still misfiring. Did I miss something, even swapped out the condenser!
did you change plugs too?
Que tipo de bujías lleva el pathfinder nissan 2001.???
Help where are the spark plugs located in the engine? Tia
Under the coil packs which are under the fuel rails.

Thank you for the video! wish I could have seen better but it should still be helpful. Where did you get the coil light checker?

Where can I find the condensed ignition coil, please and thank you?
What store or where on the vehicle? Not sure what you're asking for.
did you have to replace any gaskets while replacing the plugs
Nope.
Hey do you have any suggestions on how to reach the o2 sensors?
Augustine Liu Universal joints are your friend. Only way I was able to change out the front O2 sensors

Before 8/00-224484W000. After 8/00-224484W001
what sensitivity setting did you have the dial at on the spark tester
You have to adjust it based on what the other coils putting out.
Why the First coil is different than the others?
food4e1 not sure. Maybe it's used as a sync for the cam/crank signal.
tks for the effort bro
where do you get that coil tester? and what's it called?

+xonkkram thank you!
His name really is Mark Knox. It is backward.
unfortunately the mechanic does not show where he got the sparkplugs and coils because he himself blocks in the video the area where those things go.

Around 18:50 I explain what I had to remove, but basically the throttle body has to come off for that coil to fit.
I wish you hadn't skipped the part of removing the brackets. I need a step by step 😭
Which brackets?
