    Just a heads up guys. VR forces the eyes to do is as if it is looking at objects in the distance. So Myopia is not relevant with regards to VR. The vision pro will actually alleviate these issues, at it will replace time spent on phones and flat screens.

      There is accommodation-vergence conflict, your brain is perceiving depth based on vergence or crossing of eyes in this product. The accomidation aspect which is your lens making micro adjustments to focus the image onto the retina. The disagreement with reality will cause a neurological problem.

    I will say this. I’ve used this device for about 2-3 hours at a time and I have a -7.5 prescription. Using the Zeiss lenses is amazing since they just magnetically attach into vision pro. So far it’s really a one of a kind experience, and I have only experienced mild eye strain from long term use. But I know that everyone’s experience will be different. But we will definitely find out once the product hits the open market and more people get to test it and experience the spatial environment and VR environment

    It's a nice video, but the one thing I'm curious about is: Yes, the screen is right in front of your eyes, but the virtual things you'll be looking at are much further, so your eyes are actually focusing on far away objects. So in that sense it should actually be much better for your eyes than a smartphone or PC... so does that hold up? Do the eyes actually focus on virtual things as if they were far away? Or is the fact that the screen is close to your eyes actually bad for you?

    Your concerns about myopia induction from close screens in headsets betrays a misunderstanding of how eyes focus on objects. The photons originating from a source closer to the eyeballs does not automatically mean they induce more strain. Since the screens of the headset are optically isolated from one another, they allow representation of faraway objects the user can focus on without strain. Thus, it depends on the application. I would argue the average object represented with a headset will be farther away from the user than the average screen today.

      because this isn’t a social media platform at it’s base, which is what the quest is, being that it did come from a company with a social media background and current platforms.
      As of current, this isn’t meant to be walking around places with it, and I mean, neither is the Quest, it has similar battery life and has warnings to not take it out in direct sunlight..
      This isn’t a social media platform, Vision Pro is a computer at its core. It gives you new ways to explore, and interact with your every day apps. This also allows for hundreds of iPad and iPhone apps to run on it without any extra setup by you or the developer. They already have a larger app store than Oculus and it’s not even released yet. The functionality of the Quest is for gaming, that’s at its forefront. Vision Pro is to get work done and enjoy entertainment and your apps in new ways and new experiences coming along the way.
      Give it a few years or even less than one, and you’ll see social connections becoming bigger on this.
      We already have things that others don’t have. Such as Facetime, Real Time document collaboration, Shareplay with music, favorite apps like tiktok, streaming services with others. That’s a whole lot more than what you could do with Quest. I can’t watch the same movie with someone sitting next to me, but on Vision Pro I can, and i’ll still be able to see them sitting next to me, while Quest is fully in VR missing real life interactivity.
      Y’all are missing the point of this. Every headset that has come out before has always focused on… VR.. this headset is focused on AR, and yes even Tim Cook the CEO says that it’s an AR platform. That’s the big difference with this, and no one has done AR like this before, this is the next step of evolution needed to bring AR into a class of its own.

    It wasn’t out of the blue. Everyone knew it was coming, everyone knew it would run its own OS. Its spacial computing yes but thats what xr= VR/AR is. Apples marketing branding doesn’t change the technology. They just put all the bells and whistles on it with a hefty price tag. Yes impressed they actually went for it but on a practical note apple is usually behind the curve on giving new tech to their people. Usually they polish the old stuff really nicely and charge you more. This is an exception so im waiting to try it out with their apple polish.

    • @grumbel45
      @grumbel45 Год назад

      While the spacial computing is nothing new by itself, Hololens demoed it all the way back in 2015, it has largely been ignored by the VR/AR industry at large. Microsoft's WMR Portal hasn't received any serious updates in about four years, SteamVR never had that kind of functionality to begin with outside of third party add-ons and Oculus has been pretty lackluster here as well, especially with the QuestPro that could have replicated most stuff Apple has shown, but instead settled on just reusing the Quest2 UI and largely ignore its own eye tracking.
      Apple's approach of making 2D content a priority and largely ignoring the fully immersive aspects of VR has been refreshing and is pretty much the complete opposite of what the VR industry has been doing, which for the last 10 years focused on fully immersive 3D games and treat passthrough mode and 2D window control as an afterthought at best.

Do you think Vision Pro would still work for me? Astigmatism is quite an issue for such bright close screens, isn’t it? Also, do you think convergence issues, like in 3D cinema, could be solved by Apple?

    @jackesioto Год назад

    Indeed, this technology has kilotons of potential, from immuring oneself in a virtual reality eutopia to helping the blind. Heck, several VR headset type devices already exist to assist the blind.
    It's currently impossible to see if virtual reality will cause the same risk of eye strain as garden variety screens close up, but if such strain does not occur all that much, we could eventually get virtual ''vacations''. Such tech would allow reverse time travel, visiting parallel universes, etc without breaking the laws of physics.

    Considering it’s taken 50years since the first ar/vr device was created until this headset was released by apple. Furthermore it’s taken 146 years since Alexander Graham Bell 1876 invented the telephone for phone/mobile phone to to get to the form it’s in today, the iPhone etc. so to think this headset is going to replace the mobile phone within a few years is ridiculous and totally totally unrealistic!. This is not just my view it’s the view of industry experts, academics and scientists!!. Until we can can fit an iPhone, M2 max Mac Studio, tv and camera into the form factor of a pair of ray ban sunglasses it’s simply not happening!. Battery technology alone means it’s not possible then you have to revolutionise cooling, component scale etc. plus it’d make apple a one product company because it’d mean they stop selling the iPhone, mac, mac pro’s, iPads and just sell one product Rolled into one. So yes decades upon decades upon decades away from that I’m afraid!.
    Furthermore anyone thinking this is the future just simple isn’t looking far enough into the future. The future is holographic projection..so we’ll have a standard pair of glasses or something resembling the glasses you have there with cameras in them etc. but those those cameras, sensors will project what the apple visor pro does into the world infront of you without the need for any lenses or screens!. It will be your iPhone, iPad, laptop, Mac Pro, mirrorless camera, navigation all built into one pair of standard size glasses. Hence we are at least 50years from that point. Because it’ll make apple a single product company and will need chip, component and battery tech to be generations and generations away from today. In terms of battery tech your talking thirty, fourty maybe fifty generations from today!. Considering the very very best battery they could attach to this lasts two hours max. Imagine powering your Mac Pro, MacBook pro, iPhone, iPad, main high resolution camera/video camera, navigation device all day non stop on a battery the size of glasses arm!. Clearly we’re decades and decades and decades from that point alone!.

      few things. Battery technology is and has been changing. Reports show we could be moving to different kinds of processes and materials for batteries changing them entirely.
      Fitting all that tech into small slim glasses is a feat of course, thats why the google glasses failed, because of its obtrusive look. But with Apple behind all the tech inside as well, I can see it coming. They’re already working on 3nm chips for the new upcoming iphone 15, down from 5nm process. Soon we will be working with atoms and that technology could be right around the corner. Especially with Apple’s ingenuity. Their chips are already the smallest, most powerful, and most battery efficient and thermal efficient chips out there. Apple is on the right track if you ask me..
