I think business and science degrees make sense to combine if you're going onto a graduate degree like law, medicine, or dentistry where it's common to setup your own practice. The science degree prepares you for the advanced degree (IP law could require science for, say, drug companies) and the business degree prepares for running your practice.

Marketing is probably one of the weaker business majors imo. Philosophy will teach you writing better than other degrees. The most interesting and memorable classes I ever took in college were philosophy. It's your decision though. Good luck to you friend

I think that sounds great, I’m someone who’s doing the same thing. The only thing is you don’t need a bachelors in marketing, a person with an associate degree in marketing makes the same as someone with a bachelors.
I have seen this pattern that most people do MS in something like Computer Science or Information Systems and after working for a year or two, get enrolled or do a part-time/evening MBA from a well-off Univ and shift into senior management roles. So what does your experience say about this? Is this a better option? Or doing a Management degree with a concentration in some domain like Information Systems(dual degree) a most viable option?
I disagree about science and business. If you're interested in working in healthcare in any way, combining it with business is a great idea! Especially if you plan on being in a management position or running your own business. More medical schools are offering degrees that combine MD and MBA programs because of this. Knowing how to run a business efficiently is pretty much always a good thing. The only time I would say it really wouldn't help is if you intend on just being a university paid research scientist forever or something of that nature.
I have an associate’s degree in business management, and I’m about to transfer for a BS in economics with a minor in finance. Is this a good choice? I really like economics, which is why I chose it. I’m also interested in finance, but I’m not completely certain about it as a minor.
I cant seem to choose between finance and marketing. I have gifted writing skills but I also want to do something analytical. I think I will try a double major in both of them. What are your thoughts on this shane?

I'm actually majoring in Finance and International Business with a concentration in Marketing. in my opinion the rank is : 1 Business Analytics 2 MIS 3 QuantFinance 4 Finance . quantitative finance might have been a good degree 5-10 years back but nowadays , it's all about data , quant division has been pretty stagnant and it is very difficult to sell back to other non-banking companies. Traditional Finance would be good but it has become too saturated , plus people with STEM and more maths-heavy business degrees (like Actuarial science, QFinance ; Business Analytics ) have started competing with finance majors for the same jobs.

I chose to double major in Accounting and Finance, then graduated into a pandemic 😂
How was the combination? I am starting college this fall, plan on majoring in accounting and finance then become a CFP
How is it going
I disagree about science and business. If you're interested in working in healthcare in any way, combining it with business is a great idea! Especially if you plan on being in a management position or running your own business. More medical schools are offering degrees that combine MD and MBA programs because of this. Knowing how to run a business efficiently is pretty much always a good thing. The only time I would say it really wouldn't help is if you intend on just being a university paid research scientist forever or something of that nature.
HEYY Can you please make a video on a degree in consumer behavior and marketing? and a career in it. THANKYOUU
Hi!! I was wondering if you could talk a little bit about Public Administration & a Business degree ( such as Marketing ) as a double major?
Your videos are extremely helpful.😊
I have decided to take a finance major as well. Once again thank you so much.
You are welcome!
That sounds great tbh.
Both are pretty solid. Just have to plan it out well
Hi Shane, I planned on double majoring in Finance and International business but I also want to do human resource management. What would you recommend in this situation ?
I'm actually majoring in Finance and International Business with a concentration in Marketing.
I have an associate degree in International Business and I loved it, that's why I'm continuing to get a BBA for it. If you're good at math, double major International Business with Finance or Accounting with it.
My original choice was Management but rather than changing my degree, I decided to add Management Information Systems. I hope this combination fits nicely.
Just plan it well and it should work out. Good luck
If i do MIS (major) in bachelor and sales/marketing (minor) , What can i or what should i Study in master's?? Can i study MBA ?
Or i can do any in master field, related to business degree??
Please clear me !!😢

Please help me decide
Do one about an Executive MBA
Hey! What do you think about a double major in Marketing & Data Analytics. Thank you.
Your pronunciation is perfect, no joking
Im majoring in business administration with a minor in economics
Can you please talk about International relations/studies thoroughly for your next upcoming videos?
I'm currently double majoring in Finance and Economics so I can be able to work in both the public and private sector.
Good luck on that Adbi
Me Too Bro
how is it? do you recommend it?
One of the highest like: dislike ratios i’ve ever seen on youtube and for good reason
Hey shane, please make a vedio about comp and information science major. :)
Great video, have you ever did a video on a Office Adminstration degree?
What about a combination of MBA and a certification in data analytics
Hi, may i ask if i should do a degree in business majoring in communications , or maybe industrial design? I have interest in ux design too but am unsure which degree is better in terms of job prospects
Great vid as usual shane. Just curious, could we also do minors in these subjects for business instead of double majoring?
Yeah you could also do that
I am doing a double major right now, comp sci and management. But I don't like computer science like I thought I did. I still have management but I'm looking for another major to double with it.
Plan it out Basha.. I hope everything works out for you
I am starting the same thing. I'd like to see how it goes for you
@@mikeyj011fx5 If you're into computer science I think its a perfect combination.
@@ShaneHummus Yeah I've been thinking about it for a long time. Your videos are helping
@@basha6376 Yeah for sure. Best of luck to you. I belive comp Sci isn't for everyone, however it is very fulfilling for people who are passionate about computing
Just in time! Great video, Shane ;)
Awesome! Thank you!
great video. thumbs up!
I’ve been watching your videos since I started my freshman year in college currently and I need help. I just finished watching the ikigai video and I am naturally gifted in reading and really good at/passionate about writing so I want to major in English to help this decision since I am concerned about it being marketable I am debating combining this with Economics or Business which is a better time investment Economics with English or Business with English?
You dont need to do all that. You can study marketing, it comes business and writing skills. Even I am gifted at writing and would also love to major in English but I also needed a career that pays well, therefore i found my ikigai to be marketing which combines business with writing/creativity and also pays a decent to good paycheck
I might make a video to help you with that. Stay tuned for it
Thank you for the tips and future video request. As for marketing my university doesn’t offer like a major in that or specific areas in relation to business only as master/PhD programs but I will make sure to look more into the career of marketing to see if I could make sure to take some courses that align with it inside of the business or economics major.
Im either doing Healthcare administration and either finance or HIM.
Hey. I read about an Indian couple who have done MBA-MIS from Univ of Arizona, and now work at Product Management role at Microsoft in next 3 years. So I am curious to know that in American system, an MBA is needed for product management roles, or one can break-in just by an MIS ?
Your inputs would be really appreciated.
A much awaited video. Good job keeping your word Shane. So happy I subscribed ❤
Thanks Andrea
Kindly explain about UG business with major in analytics
Loved it man !!!
Imagine what the conversation with his kids will sound like🙄
Hey there, most of your viewers are young business minded students, with that said, they tend to save more or already have saved money, but we don't know how to invest and on what?! So can you please help US! The video will probably boom!!!
Hey Shane! I wanna do Economics and Business but also a tech degree as well like MIS, is that good or there are gonna be some problems with it?
Have you done a business analytics video yet?
If I’m shooting for management positions, wouldn’t it be best if I went for information systems and management
Currently an Economics major. Should I double major in Data Science or double major with finance and do a minor in data science? I’m on pace to do either. Looking to go more into data analysis though
Maybe this could help
The BEST DOUBLE Majors For BUSINESS Degrees

I'm curious because I am about to graduate from Community College with my A.S. in Liberal Arts. Would Accounting & Liberal Arts be considered a good double major? Since Liberal Arts works on critical thinking and figuring the best solutions to problems. I think my double major would be great because workplaces are looking for people who can think outside of the box. Please reply, Mr. Hummus. Thank you and have a nice day.
The only place a liberal arts degree looks good is if you want to be a barista
@robb4951 Actually, I can use my double major to become a marketer.
@@JustBeingChristopher At least you have one degree that isn't useless
What would be a great double major for supply chain management and a logistics degree
Can you do a review on a criminal justice degree and what careers and opportunities it has to offer?
"...If you teach somebody business skills and put them a hundred years in the past, they probably be successful... and the same thing if you drop them a hundred years in the future..." Now the $1.000.000,00 question: Where have you hidden the Delorean keys Shane ? 👀.
Good point. But not me, Marty has it
@@ShaneHummus 😁
how about business administration + Law , would it be a great choice ?
thanks for making this video! if I’m interested in marketing, would it be useful to get an undergraduate dual degree in business/economics or possibly business with a concentration in global management/economics and then go to graduate school for marketing?
Depends really
@@ShaneHummus I'm doing a computer science hnd which is 2 years and lead to one year top up in computer science and software engineering. I started it on last month. Which I have lectures on weekdays. I'm also liking to do another degree in another university. So I found a degree with 1 and half year hnd in business management and top up in business administration. So for that will take 2 and half year. So I'll be able to graduate both in June 2024
Marketing and data analysis or marketing and business analysis or marketing and supply chain ?
Really good vid!
What is your opinion about English literature and buisness majors combo?
I want to go into criminal justice and be someone in the fbi, cop, or part of the secret service, but my parents want be to go into business because it could be helpful. Would a double major in both criminal justice and business help with the jobs I want or not.
Great video, Shane. Can you come up with a Supply Chain Management video?
I highly recommend it, I'm doing a double major in business economics and business Supply Chain Management and I got a lot of internship offers from fortune 500 companies for Supply Chain. This is probably the most underrated business major out there.
Shane what do you think of Hospitality management?
That could be in my future videos
Shane, what are your thoughts on Digital Marketing?
I might cover that in the future
@@ShaneHummus Thank you
Hello Shane
@shanehummus I just started college and I’m interested in doing management information systems, but I also want to double major. What do you think makes more sense MIS and economics or MIS and business analytics?

I’m a high school freshman and my question is, is a Business and engineering degree a good combo?
I got accepted to double degree program, Business Administration (from Wilfrid Laurier University) and Computers (from University of Waterloo).
Is this good path to take?
Is Business Administration good if it has a concentration? How would you rank from: Finance, MIS, Business Analytics, Quantitative Finance? Thanks
Business Degree Tier List (Business Majors Ranked)
ruclips.net/video/vhRW50eh1hQ/видео.html
in my opinion the rank is :
1 Business Analytics
2 MIS
3 QuantFinance
4 Finance .
quantitative finance might have been a good degree 5-10 years back but nowadays , it's all about data , quant division has been pretty stagnant and it is very difficult to sell back to other non-banking companies. Traditional Finance would be good but it has become too saturated , plus people with STEM and more maths-heavy business degrees (like Actuarial science, QFinance ; Business Analytics ) have started competing with finance majors for the same jobs.
hello please I would really appreciate it if Shane or anyone could reply to this, so basically I'm in hs rn, and because if your channel I've been able to find out what I wanna do in uni at least, which was international business, but I thought it would be okay if I added another course to it like IB & marketing, but it's so hard finding colleges that offer that, the college I found says I can major in ACCOUNTING (ACC)
FINANCE (FI)
HOSPITALITY BUSINESS (HB)
HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT (HRM)
MANAGEMENT (MGT)
MARKETING (MKT)
SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT (SCM)
and I can minor in
ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND INNOVATION
ENVIRONMENTAL AND SUSTAINABILITY STUDIES
HOSPITALITY BUSINESS REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
INSURANCE AND RISK MANAGEMENT
INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS
RETAIL MANAGEMENT
SALES LEADERSHIP
SPORTS BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
but idk because i really want to major in IB, and with everything going on it would be good if I had an opportunity to get a degree that has to do with technology too, like IB & MIS, I'm just really frustrated, sorry if this was long.
How do you get in touch with a lot of people doing the careers you are interested in?
