Yeah. I find that funny, she goes, 'What's wrong with you?' and the obvious answer is: He's a Twitch streamer.
Though, if anyone heard a loved one make that scream, they would assume broken leg or crushed under a car or something. Not, 'died in a video game.'

DKR is a tragic story. The original was one of the most innovative, creative kart racers in its time. Then Nontonic Rare came out with a remake on the DS. The DS version was unfortunate. It literally didn't have enough voice act staff. And it's an official game for crying out loud. (One of the many reasons to look deeply into game dev politics, etc. for the greater good of our games.)

At 3:46, I realize that DGR need to get all 39 coins.
Fun fact about '39' in Japan:
In Japan, slurping your food is considered polite, most of the island's stoplights are blue instead of green, and you can get sushi delivered via robot. Nothing out of the ordinary here. But why is it that when somebody texts you “39,” it’s considered a sign of great gratitude? The answer is a centuries-old trick of wordplay that's infiltrated the digital age, and we hope by the end of this post you'll be cheering "39" for it.
Japan’s Kanji language evolved out of traditional Chinese writing, naturally transforming over the centuries to suit Japanese grammar and inflection. As a result, each character in Kanji can be read multiple ways depending on which of several different reading systems you use. The Kanji character for the number “1,” for example, has at least six different possible pronunciations (hitotsu, hito, hi, ichi, i, or wan) in three different reading systems. Fortunately for the international community of word nerds, more word sounds means more wordplay-and that’s where 39 comes in.
One of the most popular forms of Japanese wordplay is numeric substitution-writing numerals in place of words or letters with the same phonetic value. We do this in English all the time, coming up with half-numeric sentences like “You are 2 dang 1derful,” or “it’s been 4ever since I last 8 a 2na fish.” Kanji can be manipulated the same way, only with six times as many opportunities for linguistic mischief. In the common on’yomi reading system, for example, the number 3 can be pronounced san, while the number 9 can be kyu. So if someone texts you “39” or “3 9,” you can read it “san kyu”… a.k.a., “sankyu,” a Japanese-inflected version of the English, “thank you.” (You're welcome.)
“39” has become common texting shorthand for gratitude in Japan, but it’s only the tip of the numeric wordplay iceberg. Here are a few other choice phrases to ponder on your next visit to Kyoto:
23 can be read as "ni san.” Cleverly, the Nissan car company likes to enter cars numbered 23 into many motorsport events.
29 can be read as "niku,” meaning "meat." Some restaurants and grocers offer special meat promotions on the 29th day of each month.
573 can be read as "ko-na-mi.” Video game manufacturer Konami likes to use this number in high scores and other Easter eggs sprinkled throughout their games.
893 can be read "ya-ku-za.” The famous Yakuza organized crime syndicate takes its name from this number, which produces a losing hand in the traditional Japanese card game Oicho-Kabu. Today, with the crime syndicate better known than the card game, 893 is just considered an unlucky number.
Need to remember the first nine digit of pi? 3.14159265 can be read "san-i-shi-i-ko-ku-ni-mu-kou," essentially meaning, "An obstetrician faces toward a foreign country." (That’s much easier to remember, yes?)
Now that we've got our phonemic photon cannons properly firing, see if you can guess what "Texas" is slang for in Norway, or which three-letter English word has 645 different meanings. 39 for reading, friends! 39 very much.

If you haven’t beaten Zelda 2, you probably won’t ever, unless you use save states. Beating that game, on a cartridge, back when the game came out, was a commitment. At that age, in that particular time period, it’s what some kids did. With no other distractions and electronics vying for our attention, 8-bit was it. No matter how hard, how cryptic, or how convoluted the games were, we played them. We talked about them with friends. We read Nintendo Power. We shuffled around blind for hours until we finished the game. Nowadays, I don’t see that being a thing for too many people. Peace!

my biggest gaming confession was that in the final level of mario maker 2's story mode i had luigi complete it after failing for ages, thinking I could come back and beat it later, but you cant come back to it, so I have to live the rest of my life knowing I'll never complete mario maker 2's story mode's final course

My Gamer confession: I bought a switch for the sole purpose of playing BotW, Xenoblade Chronicles and SMM2, I've played SMM2 a bunch (about 200 hours), haven't played BotW yet, put about 5 hours in XB (got all 3 about 1 1/2 years ago with my switch) I've put almost 100 hours into Civ 6, pre-ordered and beat Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity, and put over 400 hours into Tetris 99, Puyo Puyo Tetris 1 and 2 combined.

I don’t really have any gaming confessions, but one of my biggest unpopular opinions is that the Blue Shell is the best item in Mario Kart, and I’m tired of all those sore losers blaming it for their friendships falling apart. I don’t see it as an unfair setback, tbh. I see it as an item to make the game _more_ fair by helping others catch up and have a chance at winning. Super Mario Kart is the only game in the series without it, and it’s unfair as hell. You seemingly can’t catch up unless you get the Lightning in that one, lol.

I don't like the item all too much but I agree. I believe it's a nessesary evil

I have never once 100% completed any video game. The closest I got to that so far is Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. I completed Bowser's Fury, I'm almost done the any% as all characters, I just need to beat Meowser and all subsequent levels excluding Champion's Road as everyone else and I will be done.

I haven't even started up 90% of my gaming library. I have just been playing Mario Maker and Smash Brothers.
Also we need to force him to play Mario Kart 8 DLX and compare it to Diddy Kong Racing and Mario Kart 64. He will understand that the statement that the Diddy Kong Racing franchise is better but the game isn't better than the latest Mario Kart. Hypothetically if Diddy Kong Racing kept it's momentum and had the same treatment as Mario Kart it would be better. Which I think the reasoning is behind such a statement.

Regarding lurking: In general, I find it odd chatting in a large community. I remember trying it once, I saw some guy I was briefly following on RUclips was doing a stream, so I dropped in and saw him playing a Christmas-themed Mario 2 mod, and I just asked, "What's the name of this game?" I never got an answer to that question, because the moment I asked that, the message was suddenly off the screen, since 100 other people filled the chat with meaningless bibble and pointless emojis. Attempting to add to that is like pissing in a river. It may make *some* impact, but no one's going to notice. I stopped paying attention to that guy shortly after.
Thankfully, from what I've seen, DGR isn't quite that big, so it might be worth actually joining this community. Dropping in on a stream or two, see what happens.
