I have a question, though. I'm planning to order the 2021 C300 Cabriolet, and I know it'll have the COMAND system since I'm adding the Multimedia Package as a part of getting the Driving Assistance Package.
Do you know if there will be a software update later to MBUX? If not, do you think it's worthwhile for me to wait for the 2022 C class Cabriolet to come out?

Ooo very nice! Unfortunately no MBUX isn’t just a software update, it’s a complete overhaul with hardware too. For example MBUX actually has graphics cards run by Nvidia in there to help with the motion and graphical content.
Mercedes-Benz cars have a life cycle of approx 6-7 years, so if we look at the C-Class it should change next year or the year after. When you start to see teasers online from Mercedes-Benz, you’ll know it’s coming soon! Nothing confirmed yet though I’m afraid :(
Should you wait for the new one? Honestly it’s up to you if you fancied the upgraded multimedia system. There will be other upgrades but not sure what they’ll be yet.

Really sorry I’ll only know for over here but I’d imagine it would be the same for both us in the UK and the USA.
Augmented Reality in the heads up display is only available in the S-Class at the moment. It requires a lot of computing power that only the S-Class and it’s new vertical MBUX version can handle.

Unfortunately remote engine start isn't available in the UK so I haven't ever used the feature and I I don't recall S 560's have launch control. Usually it's only found on Mercedes-AMG vehicles.
As I said it's been a long time since I've seen one but just trying to remember I think you can open / close the roof from the key by holding the unlock / lock button. Quite useful with the weather we have at the moment!

It depends what you’re playing from, it’s all done on the device you’re using.
If it’s a USB stick though I don’t think it’s possible to do it in the car, you’ll need to make one on a computer and copy it across. 🤓

My A220 AMG line has USB ports but nothing fits these ports. I cant get the adapters and my Benz dealer didnt mention the size of the ports are so small. Any advice on where I can get the adapters please?

It sounds like it’s the new shape A-Class, and quite easily the USB ports are called a USB-C port.
To plug in normal sized devices, you will need a USB-C to USB adapter. Part number A1778202901 if you wanted to order from Mercedes-Benz directly.
Alternatively, you can find them on Amazon too.

Nick couple of things just received my long awaited GLE 450 which looks great following on from your tips to disable keyless go which does work would this reduce the risk of thieves who use a device outside your home to try and steal your car with a laptop device etc secondly why dont you do a video on all the tech Mercedes now offers inc Wi-fi in car which even i dont understand but the other kit packs which are great are also a little challenging when trying to understand just a couple of thought and if you could enlighten me on the Wi-fi ie what do i need etc i would appreciate

Yes I have heard that double tapping the lock button basically switches the key off so it shouldn't emit anything for protection against thieves etc.
Regarding the tech Mercedes offers in cars, I will try my best! There is a lot of it!
With the WiFi in the car, this can be set up on the Mercedes me Portal on the website (via browser only, not the app). It's provided via Vodafone and the last time I looked new users were eligible for a free one month trail before paying.
To be honest, if it's just you in the car I wouldn't worry, it's aimed at providing your passengers with WiFi but most people have a cellular connection on their phone anyway.

Trying to make my mind up between EQA and GLA. My concern is that EQA only gets AR with Premium Plus which is not currently available. GLA has Premium Plus but is AR included?

No sadly Augmented Reality is one of the things affected by the lack of semiconductors in the world right now. It’s not included on many models because of this.
Best thing to do is speak with your local dealership for clarification on this and they’ll be able to advise on the exact car you might be considering.

Hey manish, no sadly due to the semiconductor shortage, to keep production moving Mercedes have had to remove some specification from cars. This isn’t something that Mercedes are wanting to do I’m sure but every car manufacturer is facing the same issue and to continue making cars, is something that they’ve all had to do.
Sadly without the necessary electronics, camera and software installed at factory it won’t be able to be added afterward as Augmented Reality is not part of UK specification now.

Hey Manish, absolutely! It all comes down to preference but each mapping provider gives you some extra features over another.
Waze is more community based feedback from other drivers but can lead to false information if people have not sent the correct info but having used it before, it is pretty good. MBUX is very good too, combined with Live Traffic, it’ll offer quite a similar experience with it re-routing you if it can find a faster route 🤓
I read that you we will soon be able to use the augmented camera as a dash camera. Do you have any information when Mercedes could be releasing this feature?

As a new & disabled Mercedes driver. I would like to ask a few things:
1. Please do not just gloss over things by saying ,"There are lots of other things" when explaining MBUX.
2. As a Motability driver, how does one know if the AR System on SatNav is on a vehicle ?
3. What systems on cars work automatically such as anti roll back etc?
Enjoying the videos, keep it up but a suggestion would be to bear in mind not everyone is an expert on Mercedes car systems, so clarity when explaining is key.

MBUX is such an easy but intelligent system and would be an extremely long video if I went through everything, sorry I didn't go into enough detail! I didn't want to make the video too long but I'll bear it in mind for future!
I'd recommend the best way of knowing the spec of your car is to ask your dealership for the factory spec sheet and they can run through it with you. The Augmented Reality will have come on automatically if you have it on your Sat Nav.
I also wasn't sure what you meant by anti roll back, was this in relation to driving on a hill? Rest assured all automatic Mercedes-Benz will not roll back on hills. All automatics and manuals also have a HOLD feature and when used will stop that from happening too.
@@npoleary Hi, thanks for the reply, yes I did mean in hills. As far as the AR on SatNav, I only asked as I get the feeling it may be an 'at cost' extra as I cannot find any reference to it in the car.

You can ask your local dealer to load up the factory spec sheet. I find it’s the best way of knowing every little thing your car has. Every option is shown so it should be listed on there.
@@npoleary Augmented Reality is an option or can be unlocked or blocked from the MBUX software?
It’s not a software thing, there is a camera built into the windscreen that makes it work. If it’s not selected at factory when it’s built then it won’t be able to do any augmented reality features.

The menu item comfort should only show if you have Ambient Lighting which in the UK spec is on the Premium Package. Do you know if you have that one?

Hi Nick I just bought a Bclass 200 on a 2020 plate due to Corona the sales guys couldn’t show me everything the car does I was told you can let someone else use the car without a key only need a smart phone is this true ? Ok plus how do you work the parking break on a auto any help would be appreciated

What he was mentioning is an extremely rare feature and to be honest I haven’t seen it for a long time. If you have a picture of a smartphone on your door handle then it would be compatible. The only thing is then you need a compatible phone to do it so at present very few phones work with this.
The parking brake is an easy one, on UK spec vehicles, when put the car into drive, the handbrake comes off and when you put it into Park it goes on. All automatic!
How do you use the air vents so I can get it blowing on the window screen?

It does depend on your Mercedes-Benz model (as there are quite a few!) and they're not all in the same location. The one thing that is similar though, wherever your climate controls are in the centre, there will be a max de-mist button for the front and a heated rear screen.
Also you'll find a button that has a picture of a person, with arrows pointing to their face, windscreen and feet. This is the one you can use to direct airflow manually.

Technical question. I have just got a brand new CLA Shooting Brake AMG line premium plus with driver assistance pack. In the handbook it says that the camera for the augmented reality sat nav can be used with a USB memory stick as a dash cam. I followed the instructions in the handbook which said so to go to apps and select dashcam, but my car doesn't have the dashcam app.
Is there an update or a way to add this app, or is this an update that will come in the future?

Just to check I guess you’re in the UK? Unfortunately because we live here, that feature has been disabled and there are no plans to actually enable it.
I’ll admit, that feature would be amazing to have (I think all cars should have this). However it is something to do with data protection and I have heard it is a legal minefield with laws as to why the UK do not offer this.
For now it’s just a case of buying a 3rd party dashcam and installing either left or right hand side of the mirror.
I’d recommend to make sure you’re all connected up to Mercedes me and you have email alerts on. If it ever became available, you’d see it through the website / app.

It’s tricky to explain as there isn’t a definitive thing that defines what multimedia system you have but I could make a video trying to explain it if you think would work?
I did make a NTG 6 vs NTG 7 comparison video a few months ago if that helps on my channel.
NTG 5 - typically a square screen, sat nav is started using “Destination” on the bottom right. Operated using a wheel / and rounded touchpad
COMAND NTG 5.5 - Usually has widescreens across the dashboard, sat nav is started on a left menu on the screen, uses a wheel and rounded touchpad to control the screen
MBUX NTG 6 - First gen MBUX, square touchpad, first car to offer retrofit to purchase CarPlay from the Mercedes me store, has Hey Mercedes voice assistant with wavey lines
MBUX NTG 7 - doesn’t usually have a touchpad, all touch screen, Hey Mercedes voice assistant has sparkly stars for the voice assistant

Hi Nick, I have a question regarding Augmented Reality Navigation.
When I bought my E200 coupe (delivered in July 2002), I wanted this option, but because of unavailability of chips being produced in the world due to the Covid, I could not order it.
Do you know if it is possible to have the Augmented Reality Navigation option added to my car now, since required chips are available again and the option is now available for a new car?

Really sorry I wouldn’t know, you’d have the ask Mercedes. As far as I’m aware no, it was removed off of specification, (not just temporarily removed) but chat with them and they might be able to help!

I have a new CLA250 Premium Plus, its 2 weeks old but the Augmented Reality on the sat nav does not appear - just the normal junction display. Any default settings required to get the camera to show?
Hi Keith,
There is a place in settings found on the bottom right of the NAVI screen (one with the cogs) and under Advanced Settings you can find Augmented Reality. There should be something in there.
Failing that, the other option is when the Sat Nav is on, there is usually a button on the left hand side which can turn it on and off while driving.

All Mercedes-Benz autotune their radios all the time so the ones you can see on the screen should be the ones you can listen to where you are right now. Of course if you drive somewhere else, it'll appear automatically.

No not yet, I’d anticipate it to come out next year and potentially have MBUX then. For now it has the latest version of COMAND Online.
Just purchased the amg 45 s 4matic 2020 need to have Waze as my default navigation is this possible

Sorry just seen your other comment as well. Yes all Mercedes-AMG A 45 S from new get smartphone integration so you should be able to plug your phone in and use that. Just double check that your phone can run Waze on Android Auto because a few years ago this was not possible.

If depends where you live and the laws in the country believe it or not! In the UK we can't use it here to record but I believe you can in certain countries in Europe. Something to do with UK Law and Data Protection I think.
Regarding the Internet in the Car, I plan to do a video on it in the future on here so watch this space! haha!
But to help you now, it's basically a feature which can give you and your passenger's WiFi in the car. There is a free trial period however it is a subscription based service much like your phone. Regarding Tidal, you get 3 months free with the purchase of a brand new Mercedes-Benz :) (might do a video on that too!)

Hi Graham, MBUX Interior Assistant is only found on GLE and GLS models in the UK and possibly the new S-Class coming out soon.

Hey Ahmed, all of the apps available for Apple CarPlay are shown on screen.
Apple CarPlay runs off of your phone and only the apps that Apple allow and of course the apps that developers have made will appear on there.
And with video, for safety Apple do not allow video content of any app to show on the screen.

With the mix of two different systems, you’ll have to pick one to be able to play music albums and artists through your voice.
To do “Hey Mercedes”, make sure it’s plugged in but not via Apple CarPlay and you’re playing music over USB and not Bluetooth. Then you can say “Hey Mercedes, Play the artist xxxxxx”. This will only work on Apple Music on your iPhone.
To do it over Apple CarPlay, Make sure it’s plugged in to the correct port and you’ll need to use Siri to do this. Use the voice control button on the steering wheel and hold it. Holding it will activate the voice assistant on your phone instead of “Hey Mercedes”.
So in this one, you’d say “Siri, play the artist xxxxxx)

Ah that's what you need to do differently! Asking "Hey Mercedes" to change the track over Bluetooth won't work, it will need to be plugged in to the USB-C port but not into the USB-C port that does Apple CarPlay. To do this it must be in the USB-C ports in the centre armrest.
As I mentioned, "Hey Mercedes" won't work properly when you have Apple CarPlay running as the two systems are separate.
Hi Nick, do you know the best way to connect a dash cam to a 2020 B class?
It's a motability car so can't hardwire. doesn't seem to be any 12v sockets anywhere.
I assumed the camera that it uses for Augmented reality satnav could be used as a dash cam as well (naively.) but clearly not.

The best thing to do would be to use a USB-C dongle to connect your dashcam. It'll convert it to a normal sized USB port so you should be able to plug it directly into that. You'll then have the added bonus of the dashcam going off when you open the door to conserve power.
Alternatively you could get someone to wire the dashcam into the fusebox but just go careful, if something went wrong then the warranty on that particular item would be void.

There is an option to turn it on / off in settings but if you don’t think it’s working as it should, I’d probably say get in touch with your local Mercedes. They should be able to assist and I guess they’ll check things like the microphone and make sure it’s behaving as it should!
