My NB Beacons V1’s currently have 372 Miles in them.....still feeling good👍 honestly the only main wear is on the outer rear of each shoe. My 2nd pair of V1’s have 275 Miles and have exactly the same wear pattern
Seth, I’m wondering if the V1 fit you differently because you got that in a women’s size versus the men’s size? I am currently running in the Fuel Cell Rebel but don’t know if that’s a daily trainer even though I like it... your videos are the best! Thank you for your time and effort!
Beacon was such a pleasant surprise to run in, I got the V1 as my main daily trainer and took it on a variety of run, the most surprising part of the beacon was how long it lasted me, I got out 368 miles out of them which for me is quite a lot. Overall the shoes was comfortable and very plush as well as light. great shoe can’t wait to pick it up again.
I am really happy with this shoe. Initially, I wanted it for my training shoe to compliment my Fuel Cell Rebel, but the more I use the Beacon 2 the more I really enjoy running in them. :)
After hearing great things about the Beacon I was able to find my size of version 1's still out there. I always try running shoes on before I buy them. This is the 1st shoe I have bought without trying them on 1st. I was not disappointed with them at all. I really like them. Wish I would have tried them earlier. I now have bought a 2nd pair of the version 1 just to keep until the 1st pair wear out. Thanks for the great info...
Clifton 6 for easy days. Love it! Beacon defenitly on my watchlist. Have to try them someday but I think I will wait for nice deals in a few monyhs. Thanks for the great review 👍
I took the v1 Beacon to about 600 miles - great shoe, loved it, totalky my go to shoe. The v2 - sadly NB got the upper wrong imo, agree with your comments Seth. Will be looking for clearance deals on the v1...
Beacon v1 is my go to easy day shoe. I retired my first pair after 400 miles, mainly due to outsole wear. I bought a second pair of v1 on sale when v2 was released, and they are at about 50 miles now.
I can see why the Beacon 2.0 has a heel flair. Recently got the v1 for cheap. First two runs treadmill (fine, felt good), took them on the road with not my best but not my worst socks and it dug into my heel.
My Beacon 2’s came today. According to Fleetfeet’s foot scan machine I’m a D width in the left foot and a D+ in my right foot, so I’m sure any extra material in the toe box will work for me. With the high heel curve I think low socks are out for this shoe.
Thanks for the review Seth! Love your videos. My easy day shoe is the NB 1080v9 and I was actually curious if you ever tried the 1080 and how does it compare to the Beacons. Thanks!
petechen82 I have both and use my beacon v1 for my 10k and under on easy days and faster tempo runs as its so light and use my 1080 v9 for my long runs. I will be running the 1080v9 in the New Forest (UK) marathon in two weeks time (Sept 8th). The 1080v9 is so comfortable and versatile although as a slight overpronator in my left foot I would prefer a tad more support but other than that its great. The beacon v1 is super soft and makes you want to go a little faster so it makes me get more on my forefoot. It's a little more loosey goosey in the forefoot as Seth would say but still a great shoe. Hope this helps.
I'm surprised you said in the review of the v1 that there's not enough cushion for half marathons. I feel like I have weak feet, but they're doable for halfs. What I hate most about my v2's is the scrunching up of the upper like you said. What I like the most is that the foam is sooooo bouncy. I was really surprised. It makes me feel like I'm running on a people mover. They're going on sale for 50-70 now.
I bought a pair of V1 Beacons a few months back and loved them. I've since bought another 2 pairs at just over £50 a pair which is a good value for money for a good shoe like these.
QOD; as of right now it's the Beacon v1. Does the job in a perfect way imo. Also liked the Hoka Napali for easy days and are looking at the Clifton 6 in a couple of months. Off topic I'm looking forward to you're first impressions of the Fuel Cell Rebel, only taken them out for one up-tempo workout but I'm pretty excited.
I am waaaaay behind watching your videos, Seth! Too busy to stay on top of it! My go-to easy day shoe is the Clifton 1 re-releases at the moment. I love, loved them the first 100 miles or so. They still have a lot of live in the upper, which is why I'm sticking with them even though they have more like 250 miles now and the midsole just isn't as nice as it once was. Once I get retire them, I'm thinking of trying the Beacons or maybe the Rincon next! Peace!
QOD: My easy day shoe is the Brooks Glycerine 17. It’s kind of like running in an old Cadillac-plush, cushy, heavy. It’s way more shoe than I’m used to, but a pleasure to jog in the day after a tough workout when I don’t care how slow I’m going.
QOTD: Beacon V1 for easy days, though I’ve also used them for long runs and tempoish efforts and they’ve held up quite nicely. Got the V2s fresh in the box, but at 340 miles the V1s are still holding up! A bit of wear on the outsole, mainly the lateral side, but still a bit of bop to go!
I often help retailers off with their old running shoes and safe some money. Sometimes I even buy 2 of the same pair if they have a good deal. Weight is not that important for a easy day running shoe. It might actually help to build a more solid shoe that lasts for many kilometers. I've had one pair of shoes doing more than 2000 km. This is important. The price pr kilometer is more important than the price of the shoe!
QD: my go to easy runs shoe is the skechers gorun maxroad 3 ultra. Very soft but not lazy soft, high cushion, flexible in the forefoot, sub 8,5oz weight. What else could you ask for in a daily training shoe? I agree about the value of the beacons. My V1 beacon only lasted 400km (about 250 miles) before the midsole flattens out (now literally flat in the midfoot area). If you can get the V1 in around 50$ range, definitely go for the v1!!
Sketchers gorun road ultra max 3. Awesome everyday shoe, but I can't seem to find it anywhere to buy. Seth, do you know if this got discontinued? I've run for 30 years and this is a top 3 shoe.
I am still building my endurance base since returning to running. But if I were to have a easy day shoe it would be the Hoka Rincon. My daily mileage shoes I am rotating between the Arahi 3 and the Clifton 6. And yes I have become a huge Hoka fanboy. 1
I'm another runner who NEEDS that extra space in the toebox. New Balance and Mizuno are the only brands I can run in, and Mizuno has drastically withdrawn its American market offerings.
I have almost 350 miles on the Beacon v1 and the outsole has maybe another 50 miles on them. They have become my walking shoes. The Beacon v2 seems a little dead compared to the v1, my v1s just have a different level of pop to them even with almost 350 miles that the v2 doesn’t have. Not sure why if no changes in midsole, but there is a slight difference in feel to me. I love both and use the v2 as my daily easy day trainers.
Been running easy days in the Hoka Clifton 1. Stack height is too high for long runs and it’s a little too soft for longer runs, but a great 3-4 easy miler shoe.
QD: Hoka Bondi 6's for easy long runs. Love the Beacon v1's as well but they aren't quite as gentle on by 47 year old joints. But the Bondi's are so much heavier, when I put the Beacons on they seem super light. I can't make up my mind!
Hi Seth, I'm coming up to 700km / 430 miles in my Beacon V2s. What do you think? Could I squeeze out any more distance or is it time to change? I normally run 100km/60 miles a week.
I have 300+ miles on my V1, love them. I just bought the V2 and hate it. The midsole is the same? It feels much stiffer. Plus stitching where the heel meets the forefoot mesh, rubs my foot wrong.
V1- I like the Beacon V1, but just a little snug in the toe box in D width and they don’t breath well in hot summer temps. I have wondered if either going E width or up a half size would have been better? I enjoy the ride of the Hoka Napali’s and now the Hoka Rincon a little more, so unlikely to continue with Beacons after I finish with V1 (130 mi so far and betting they won’t get past 250, but I am heavier at 200lb, so not that bad)
QOD: my easy day shoe right now is the old hoka napali, getting close to retirement though so I’m looking at the beacons, the rincons and some others as replacements
Nike Epicreact Flyknit is my current daily trainer. I do have Peg 35 and Peg Turbo in my rotation, but Epicreact seems more responsive! One downside of Epicreact is that an exposed part of React Foam is wearing out pretty quickly....
I use the Beacon V1 for my easy days and occasionally for long days. I ran 400 miles on my first pair and there is major wear on the out sole. Currently on my 2nd pair of V1 and have almost 200 miles on them, will probably only go to 325-350 on this pair. Not sure if I'll give the V2 a try, just might switch it up with something else for my daily trainer.
I have the v1 and the durability was terrible , almost no tread left after 150 miles, the Skechers max road 4 or gorun 8 will be my next easy shoe, all that cushion and they're so light
I have around 280 miles in the V1, the outsole tread is fading slightly in a few areas but apart from that, the upper is in perfect condition and the mid feels the same as the day I bought them. I expect to get these to 350 ish miles before needing to replace.
@@garysailors I ended up getting around 400 miles in them before a small tear appeared in the toebox, the missile still feels good but the outsole is quite faded. Still use them on easy days when it's not raining
Hello friend, the sole and the midsole is the same in the v1 and the v2 right? A question I have the v2 and I am a pronator with which I must use orthopedic insole, do you know if these shoes deform the shoes? faster in 10km distances the New Balance Beacon 2 or the Nike zoom fly 3 - thank you very much
I'm using a stability New Balance 860v9 in a 2E variant. Definetly a road shoe. The tongue is soft and the toe box roomy. Still in good condition after almost 900 miles. No holes in the upper yet. Really great flexible fit for my foot. They nailed the used materials this time. I'd consider buying a second pair.
I run up to 250 miles per month and as of now I couldn't afford buying a new pair every three months. That's why my daily trainers have to take a beating.
Hi, I have a slight overpronation in my right leg and was told by the running store to wear stability shoes. Can I still be running in a neutral shoe like the Beacon?
For this with Achilles tendinitis, do you think the heel thing would help? I am thinking hoka rincon or NB beacon 2 for next shoe purchase - but I have Achilles tendinitis so if the heel thing helps, that could be a swing factor
Have you ever ran in a 6 mm drop shoe? What is your current shoe drop? If you want to relieve stress on your achilles tendon you'll need a shoe with higher drop in the 10-12 mm. range Good Luck.
Nickolas Scott thanks! Great advice. I’ve alternative shoes that including a hoka bondi 5 (5mm drop) and also a pegasus 36 (10mm). Guess I will stay away from hoka...
Looking at specs on NB website it looks V2 gained some weight, not the opposite (V1 214 gr, V2 218 gr). Of course 4 grams is almost nothing. Still I'm not a big fan of model that gain weight in the new interation, like the Nike Zoom Fly series (OG is lighter than the FK, the FK is lighter than the 3).
I thought it would be the hoka clifton5, but now that they have 100ish miles they are too soft. The sketchers gorun6 better suits me and I went thru 2 pair. Can't find em anymore.
Seth need some more knowledge about shoes run only in one type unfortunately street , trial , easy everything but I can afford for such a comfort like other shoes. Will be run in my Hoka till the end 😀.

I have about 250miles in my v1 beacons!
Still going strong
V1 Definitely think I need to finally pick up my first ever NB shoes with a pair of beacons. Great review as always Seth👍
My NB Beacons V1’s currently have 372 Miles in them.....still feeling good👍 honestly the only main wear is on the outer rear of each shoe. My 2nd pair of V1’s have 275 Miles and have exactly the same wear pattern

QOD: Actually the NB Beacon 2. They’re everything I’m looking for : comfy, cushy, bouncy and light !
Amazing shoes!! Fresh foam is so underrated. Got my V2 for $61
Whoa, where did you find that sale?
My go to easy day shoe is the Clifton 6, it's so much better than the 5 you should give it a shot seth.
Clifton 6 for easy days. Love it!
Beacon defenitly on my watchlist. Have to try them someday but I think I will wait for nice deals in a few monyhs.
Thanks for the great review 👍

Go to easy day shoes: Hoka Clifton 5! With NB Beacon V1 and Nike Pegasus 36 trailing right behind.
QD : Hoka Clifton 6. I'm in love.
Got 400+ miles on my Beacon 1's, should be good for 500. Brilliant running shoes!

The rubber pods came off of my V1 in 2.5 months with not that many miles on it. It was pretty disappointing. Loved the shoe but would not buy again.

My easy day shoe is the asics 10 gel plus, it's also my shoe for eveything, I only have one shoe, but I can't complain cause at least I have a pair.

Isn't the heel flare just the same idea as a cutout
Hows this shoe compared to the Hoka Rincon?
My easy day shoe is ultraboost. My only other options are peg turbo or Nike free (18)
good choice Kyle!
Definitely gonna try the Beacon after i'm done with my Peg 35. Might not get as many miles as on the Peg though
I'm another runner who NEEDS that extra space in the toebox. New Balance and Mizuno are the only brands I can run in, and Mizuno has drastically withdrawn its American market offerings.
Altra Torin 3.5 are my relaxed run shoes
What is your prefered shoes between the beacon V2 ans the 1080 V10 that you have also reviewed ? Thanks.
I have almost 350 miles on the Beacon v1 and the outsole has maybe another 50 miles on them. They have become my walking shoes. I was looking for a review like this because i also feel like after 200 km my v2 feels dead so will continue in V1 now to see the difference.
Been running easy days in the Hoka Clifton 1. Stack height is too high for long runs and it’s a little too soft for longer runs, but a great 3-4 easy miler shoe.
I took my v2 beacons to 300 plus miles. The outsole is pretty worn down, but I bet I could get about 50 more miles in them. Great shoes.
QD: Hoka Bondi 6's for easy long runs. Love the Beacon v1's as well but they aren't quite as gentle on by 47 year old joints. But the Bondi's are so much heavier, when I put the Beacons on they seem super light. I can't make up my mind!
V1. Gotta take a look at them. Especially at the price range their at now.
Easy day shoe is the Hoka Rincon. Durability has been a huge concern though. I'm almost through the shoe at 90 miles.
QOD: Hoka Arahi 2.
Seth, please try the Hoka Clifton 6.
Hi Seth, I'm coming up to 700km / 430 miles in my Beacon V2s. What do you think? Could I squeeze out any more distance or is it time to change? I normally run 100km/60 miles a week.
QOD: Currently the NB 1080v9 but my Beacon V1 is on the way for rotation...
QOD: I want the hoka arahi 3, but I just use the ASICS gt-2000 7 for everything. I want a neutral foot strike😢
I love my Arahi's. I rotate them with my Cliftons on every other run
Would you buy the Beacon v2 if you are traing for 10ks and a half marathon? Thank you
Easy go to shoes, Brooks Glycerin & UnderArmour Bandit 3. Considering Beacon for next rotation.
I have 300+ miles on my V1, love them. I just bought the V2 and hate it. The midsole is the same? It feels much stiffer. Plus stitching where the heel meets the forefoot mesh, rubs my foot wrong.

QOD.. Beacons for easy days!. And also ultra boost 19 for days when my legs are a bit more beaten up
Just got the beacon v1 in size 13 the other day for $59.00! Crazy!
boom!!!! that's what I'm talking about!
Quinton Krumwiede so where did you get them from? I want to buy some 🙏🏻
Matthew Ammann Ordered on Amazon on like Thursday. Won’t get them till the 1st but for 59 bucks it’s worth the wait.
Matthew Ammann just looked and don’t see them at that price anymore.
Seth, i stil dilema between beacon v2 vs the rebel
For easy days, I use the peg 35
My easy day show is Skechers Go Trail Ultra 2. So soft and kind to the feet.
Nike Epicreact Flyknit is my current daily trainer. I do have Peg 35 and Peg Turbo in my rotation, but Epicreact seems more responsive! One downside of Epicreact is that an exposed part of React Foam is wearing out pretty quickly....
QOD: Nike Epic React Flyknit 2. That react-foam is just fantastic!
I use the Beacon V1 for my easy days and occasionally for long days. I ran 400 miles on my first pair and there is major wear on the out sole. Currently on my 2nd pair of V1 and have almost 200 miles on them, will probably only go to 325-350 on this pair. max road 4 is very rare , where did u get it ?
Just bought my first pair of NB's: Beacon V1! :-)
where from? (searching for a pair myself)
I have around 280 miles in the V1, the outsole tread is fading slightly in a few areas but apart from that, the upper is in perfect condition and the mid feels the same as the day I bought them. I expect to get these to 350 ish miles before needing to replace.
How far did these end up going for you @dudley Powell?
@@garysailors I ended up getting around 400 miles in them before a small tear appeared in the toebox, the missile still feels good but the outsole is quite faded. Still use them on easy days when it's not raining
Dudley Powell thanks! I just picked up a barely used v1 for $30 on eBay so am hoping for similar life.
I’m either buying another pair of Pegasus or a pair of beacon v2
got pegasus 36 off of academy for $106 with a $20 off coupon
Hello friend, the sole and the midsole is the same in the v1 and the v2 right? A question I have the v2 and I am a pronator with which I must use orthopedic insole, do you know if these shoes deform the shoes? faster in 10km distances the New Balance Beacon 2 or the Nike zoom fly 3 - thank you very much
Easy day bacon 1 and believe it or not skechers razors 3 I use for any run like today 4 miles easy, coming back from my hamstring injury.
Hoka One One Bondi 6. No matter the soareness, these puppies will nurse you through. Beacon V1 a close second.
Filip Bajan 900 Miles in one pair? Wow! 👍
Don't have a easy day shoe, just have a running shoe with the peg 35s, just about manage everything 850 miles in
Hamish hickey you have 850 miles on a single pair of Pegasus 35s? That’s crazy
850 miles on one pair of shoes? Wow, are they holding up okay?
Yeah still all fully in tact and got some grip left and still getting me through every run
@@hamishhickey1785 That's amazing!
Wow! Surprising. A little compliment for you and the peg 35s 👍
Lol go for an earlier version. Just like I did on Thursday going for the Brooks cascadia 13 over the 14 due to the feel.
For this with Achilles tendinitis, do you think the heel thing would help? I am thinking hoka rincon or NB beacon 2 for next shoe purchase - but I have Achilles tendinitis so if the heel thing helps, that could be a swing factor

I thought it would be the hoka clifton5, but now that they have 100ish miles they are too soft. The sketchers gorun6 better suits me and I went thru 2 pair. Can't find em anymore.
Easy days i usually go for either my Skechers GoRUN Ride 7 or the surprisingly cushy and forgiving Pegasus Turbos
Found the V1 for $65. I think I'll try them.
for easy days, i'd prefer a cushion setup like triumph/hurricane iso 5 equivalent
QD: Clifton 6!
Beacon v2 ...... too damn smooth
QOD: Altra instinct and Saucony Freedom ISO.
