- ET spoke with the cast of ‘Grease’ about turning the hit Broadway musical into a cinema classic. John Travolta reveals who else was considered to portray Sandy, and why he knew Olivia Newton-John was the only person for the role. ‘Grease Sing-a-Long’ will air June 7 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.

At the end of this interview, where John says "We're still alive"... that made me feel so much more sadder than I already was over the loss of the late ONJ. That movie was a HUGE part of my childhood, I was 11 yrs old when it came out and I can still remember where I was and who I was with the night that I saw it for the first time. RIP ONJ....you will forever be missed and forever be remembered ♥

We have unfortunately lost so many wonderful people from the film, Miss Newton-John, Jeff Conaway, Sid Caesar, Eve Arden, Joan Blondell, Alice Ghostley, Dodi Goodman, Annette Charles, Dennis Stewart.
My eye's widened and my jaw dropped at that part. It was just so out of nowhere and it got me.
I was also disheartened to hear about the loss of Olivia Newton John. She was a one of a kind singer. I will miss her terribly. What was your favorite scene in Grease?

I just saw the whole movie and I think it is still loved because the people in it are TRULY enjoying their time and we can feel it too.

Olivia so beautiful to be 50 here. I missed pop singer Olivia of the 70s and 80s . She became a different singer after 1992 Back To Basic
1992 is the year she was diagnosed with cancer, the same day her father passed away. Then, just after battling the cancer, she got divorced, so it's only natural that her music began to change. The only women doing pop music after 40 these days are Cher & Madonna. I think they may have changed also if they would've battled cancer 3 times. I love Olivia, Cher, & Celine!! Madonna doesn't make sense to me anymore. An old lady rolling around on the ground with an eye patch isn't very appealing...lol😂

Saw this movie in the theater when I was 14. Absolutely loved it! Olivia Newton-John was great, but I had a MAJOR love jones for Stockard Channing as Rizzo.

TBH I believe they loved each other (looks like an on and off secret relationship) but couldn't be together and get married. Aside from the timing wasn't right (it's in her book), they have different religious beliefs. So they just decided to end up as best friends, supportive in good and bad times, and marry people who remind them of each other.
This can be the reason why she likes her song I Honestly Love You more now (and John said he could only wish that song was for him)

I agree- Sat. Night Fever, and FACE OFF- Such an unbelievable concept, but he was so believable that you really feel like you’re watching Nicolas Cage’s character when you’re looking right at John!! They both sold that, and are phenomenal!!! ( Also love him in Get Shorty! … And his bad guy in Broken Arrow is perfect.)

To think the fonz from happy days was going to be Danny. And Linda ronstant or marie osmond as sandy??? No way!!! The movie would have flopped! John and Olivia had chemistry!! Electric chemistry!!!

This was practically my very first musical movie, I was six when I first seen it in 1984. on video tape. I instantly fell in love, watched it like almost everyday and sing a long all the songs and copying all the dance moves. Even had a crush at a boy at school who look exactly like Danny Zuko hair style. I have lost count how many times I watched it till today.

And I'm so excited because this year I'm going to have a Grease themed party for my 13th. I feel so sorry for John because his wife has just died and he also lost his son a couple of years ago😭 but Grease will always stay my favourite movie until I die and I can meet all the other Grease characters up in heaven😊

My mum who is 82 in her life had 3 cucerians breast cancer and recently a heart operation , ive was once stabbed in the back of my head and mental health but some have a more privadged life ,, thankfully my mum is a fighter and still alive and will never get the recognition some get

Tammy,I think this movie is all just an illusion being played out in Dannys mind. I know people don't believe in theories when it comes to this movie. I've seen this movie hundreds of times,and I STILL don't understand the meaning of the flying car at the end. There are other scenes and lyrics that can make anyone wonder if a theory could possibly exist. That's My opinion.

@@TheTamitude From the start of the movie,it really doesn't make sense. Wouldn't you think that meeting someone that special that they would do ANYTHING to keep in touch?? I know cellphones & emails didn't exist back then,but come on,you wouldn't want it to end just like that. They would at least try exchanging numbers or mailing addresses to keep in touch. Am I wrong there? So,the surprise meeting of Sandy & Danny at the bonfire made absolutely no sense at all to Me.
Then,we have the first heavenly illusion with the beauty school dropout scene,then we have the greased lightening scene with the tbirds building the red convertible in what appears to be a heavenly atmosphere as you can observe white tires & white tables and chairs in the background.
Then listen to the lyric in the song SANDY when the camera puts Danny standing in the smoke...singing "in heaven forever and ever we will be" why in heaven?? WHY NOT NOW IN THE PRESENT???
Then you have Danny in his dream car flying up into the heavens with his dream girl Sandy by his side. The camera actually spends a couple of seconds soaring thru the clouds. I think if there is a theory,I would say Danny actually drowned trying to save Sandy from drowning,and the entire movie was all just an illusion in his mind on how he would've wanted things to be had he lived. Its interesting indeed,but that's just a theory thought. That's My opinion.

I was 12 going on 13 when Grease came out. I've loved Olivia since.. My Mom took my 2 brothers 2 sisters & me to see it in the theater. Mom loved Travolta. A year or so before she also took us to see Saturday Night Fever in the Theater. So now I get to say I saw some iconic movies. Then again we also saw Jaws, & Star Wars back then too. I'm old but lucky.
