The person doing this review on France 24 appears to be living in his own bubble, he seems to have filtered out all the comments which were not positive towards the content of the opening ceremony.
He left out the part where the Opening show took the opportunity to insult and degrade every Christian person on the planet. If the French Olympics thinks it’s perfectly fine to degrade people of Christian faith, then I for one won’t be watching one minute of the games.
A comment of a twisted mind... It was the perfect mix of tradition (Accordion, Marseillaise, French Cancan, Joan of Arc...) and progressivism (fashion, diversity, avant-garde, LGBT community...) making a magical and universal moment around the sport.

The opening "ceremony" was tasteless, cheap, like someone made Eurovision, not a sports event. I'm not even religious but mocking Christianity is pointless, and drag queens have nothing to do with sports. France made it for the world and the world didn't like it. Even the Eurosport commentators criticized aspects of the organization and the poor-quality boats used for the athletes, trying to fill the time between ridiculous dance sequences and unpleasant scenes. It was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. The performances: Lady Gaga, Aya Nakamura with the Republican Guard (pricelesss!), mezzo-soprano Axelle Saint-Cirel who sang the most moving, National Anthem I have ever heard (I’m an American who has seen some spectacular renditions of our own national anthem), the beautiful rendition of Imagine (in a spectacular setting on the Seine), the fabulous hard rock band (with the beheaded Marie Antoinette 😮), rap star Rim’K, Céline Dion - and those were just the musical performers. The dancers - fabulous - exhibiting athleticism and artistry. The cauldron lighting was magical. What was particularly poignant was the dance scene at Notre Dame, truly a celebration of ancient technical mastery coming together with modern technology to rebuild and “make new again” that iconic landmark. Authenticity and beauty. Vive la France! Thank you for such a wonderful welcome to Paris.

When South Korean athletes (Republic of Korea) entered the scene, France IOC introduced them as Democratic Republic of Korea (North Korea). it looks like france totaly forgot and doesn't care where and why they dispatched some 3400 soldiers in the 1950s. i'm sure france wouldn't mind or even notice if S.Korea deletes france from its war memorial
I saw: Big french boat. Big french flag. Water fountains in front of atheletes boats. Some tiny boats. Blurry, unfocused images (not just rain). Random dancing and clowning. Random history lessons. Oh and geometrically cut plants which the French like for some reason.
