Hello. As a man, living in Russia and studying foreign languages, i want to express my gratitude to you for such an informative content. In Russian part of RUclips there are only grammar videos and something like “how I leaned English”. But the work you’re doing greatly helps me to improve my communicational skills and to look at the language I study „from inside“. Thanks a lot, keep it going!

      1. they did not read your covering letter or cv, some assitant or hr had a glimpse, but that's it. They probably printed your cv 5 min before the job interview. Most likely they have a role to fill and 10 other applicatns with similar skills - if they like you they will hire you,.

    - How was your job interview yesterday?
    - Well, I entered the office, found a man sitting on a large black leather chair with feet resting on the table...
He pointed towards his Laptop, asked me to take it and go outside, then come back and try to sell him the laptop.. He thought himself as actor Leonardo Di Caprio of "The Wolf of Wall Street" movie..
So I took the laptop and left..
    - Left...!! Then what?
    - Nothing 30 minutes later he called me up... begging me to return his laptop to him coz all his work and important documents were in it..
So I asked him: *Will you buy it ??*

This is by far THE BEST video on how to answer the question "Tell Me About Yourself".
    It explains:
    1) What interviewers REALLY want to hear.
    2) The main points you should include in your answer and in what order
    3) How to deliver the answer (Duration / Tone of voice / Gestures /Attitude)
    4) and most importantly an ACTUAL EXAMPLE!!!

The example he gives at the end for anyone that needs it (obviously change it to match your own experience and the role you've applied for).
I would describe myself as someone who is versatile and determined and someone who loves learning. I am creative, open minded, easy going and I enjoy working with others. I try to use all these qualities in my professional life.
For the last 6 years, I have been working at (insert company name here). I started out at the help-desk where I worked closely with clients and I built some good relationships. After that I did a number of roles in the company and have been promoted several times.
Now for the last 3 years I have been working as a project manager. The company has been pretty successful and I’d like to think that I contributed to that success. My team has been developing accounting software for the publishing industry and within 2 years, we’ve come from nowhere to being the number one product in the field.
Actually, I wasn’t looking for a new job as I am quite happy where I am and I came across your job advertisement by accident. But I really captivated my imagination. Your company is renowned for being one of the most innovative in the sector. I know this might be a more senior role than my current position, but I do have the skills, experience and the passion you need. I do believe I can make a positive impact and that is why I am here today.
In a nutshell that is who I am as a professional and when I’m not working I like to go hiking on the weekends and I like reading books.

They aren't english speakers so they understood me :D I think :)) at the begining I was a little bit nervous but then it was ok. It's been a second interview for this job, the first one was with a romanian recruiter, the second one skype with two managers of the company and the next one it'll be the 9th of november face to face with the managers and the recuiter too. So we'll keep in touch !

I should have watched this prior to my interview but I did do a lot of what you said. It came naturally to me and I thank God I got the job. Interviews are nervewrecking but I knew I was good for this position and I was just myself. That’s what they want. Be yourself, respect the company and show you care by knowing the company before you go in. I had “stalked” the company on Facebook to figure out their owner and some news that happened to some of the employees in the company so they were great add-ins throughout interview. We talked about the owner and I think that drove it home. When you truly care about the people in the business, they notice, and that means you care about the customers as well. Be natural, be knowledgeable, be confident.

I failed at some interview as a fresh graduate and it is so discouraging when you failed at an interview of your dream job. As a result, I watched this video for some aspirations on how to improve my interview skills. I would say this video is really helpful for me. I would try to talk more about my characters using adjectives and talk a bit about my career interest and plan as well in my future interviews.
And I really like the part of a mock self introduction by you, that is quite helpful to me. I could know exactly what a good self-introduction is. I would say the part you mentioned about your accomplishment is really fascinating. I will learn from you and thanks a lot for the video!

Yeahh, it was a great performance as a manager!!!I try to be concise and tell to the company what I can do for them. So the next time I have an English interview and they ask me about myself, I'll only give them my main abilities to the job and how I can support them. Thank you so much teacher for your splendid advice. See you next video.

You are correct. The companies absolutely do not want to hear one's life story.
And yes, it is a provocative question. That means that an interviewer was assigned to meet with you, whether he/she wanted it or not. So the interviewing person needs to make you talk, instead of asking specific questions and analyzing your answers. They have only one question in mind, "What is the benefit for us if we hire you?", like talking to a salesman.

I have like 12 years IT experience if I look back to all my interviews which I went through in the past. For this question I would take a long time repeating the same things that are there in my CV. In fact I remember in one interview interviewer had to stopp me as my answer was too long and I took 17 minutes and still was going. After watching your your video I realize the mistake I was making. In my future job interviews, now I know how much of what to say, Thank You Sir

      @DChomsy 5 лет назад +1

@@academicsports8682 the 3rd interview was easier than expected. It was the 4th final interview with the Chief of IT that was real difficult. Long story short, i got the job 4 weeks ago from my last reply. I dont think i connected on a personal level because i felt a curve ball thrown at me. Im located in the U.S. and this last interview was from a french person. It was a little hard to understand them and communicate effectively. This company i work for is french owned in the U.S. and my manager is located in France.
