I've been running a water/methanol injection on my 1.8T for a couple of years now. It fantastic! And I'm the one that tuned it! I use a 50/50 by weight and the cost is basically nothing. I get a 5 gallon jug of methanol and it lasts me about a year.

I’ve used both water injection and methanol injection just to pre clean things before a tear down, and also manual water spray to breakup carbon buildup that was causing pre ignition, work so well

@waynenocton that's what I want to use it for brake down the carbon build up and clean everything up , would love to know more how you did it

@@stuartshogren8308 just used wiper pump and installed NOS jets into the intake tube like you would for a dry NOS shot. And for the carbon just a trigger sprayer directly into the carburetor while running the throttle manually. Acts like a steam cleaner.

    Really cool video!
I didn’t know it could boost performance and lower engine temps like that.
The way you broke it down was super helpful. Thanks

Glad you liked it! Thanks for the support, I like to understand why people do things and why they work, there are so many false claims, urban myths and bad advertising when it comes to car parts and upgrades.

Hi from Australia, where our summer temperatures are like an oven on max.
I have an Abarth 595, which has been making around twice its stock power and has done reliably for many years. Installing a water/methanol kit was one of my first modifications, not so much for the added power but for added safety with respect to per detonation.
One word of advice is not to use water alone if delivering it via the throttle body.
Water's high surface tension usually means the nearer cylinder receives more water and the further cylinder receives less causing serious complications. Adding methanol to the water reduces the surface tension to zero and ensures even delivery across my four cylinders.
They are a basic system to fit but require a highly skilled engine tuner and a few other fail-safe sensors in the unlikely event of the kit's failure during a sustained pull.

Been using it for over 40 years in various setups. Most aren't aware that it messes with the output of 02 sensor, makes it read leaner than what it is. The Chemistry of the exhaust is changed depending on how much you use but more is better than less. Then you also need a stronger ignition.

It doesn't increase the power. It increases the octane so regular fuel can take more boost like race fuel without detonation.

    Great video!
I am considering water ethanol injection on my mk3.5 seat leon 1.6 TDI for a few reasons: modest power increase (20hp maybe), better emissions, carbon cleaning effect of valves and egr cooler, and lastly less dpf regens. Only mods on the car currently are a remap, but i would like to go with a bigger turbo from the leon 184/ golf gtd eventually. I do intend on keeping the emissions components intact, I've not had any problems with them so far, but car is fairly new with only 70k kms.
Theres a study from snow performance on the dpf regens on cummins diesel trucks, but theyre such a different beast to my little 1.6.
Would love to know your thoughts

something to consider, Some kits do not come with a shut off/ solenoid valve. I parked on a steep hill one day and the water meth emptied into the engine, hydro locked at least 1 of my six cylinders.

Good enough for an airplane good enough for my jetstream/Jetta.

    A
high end waterinjection system is correlated to the fuel injection system. The
amount of fuel/water needs to be a consistent ratio.
Example of a high quality water injection system: Aquamist HFS4-v3.2 pwm system.
Higher fuel efficiency, better cooling & more power.
Added bonus, no more carbon buildup with continuous water injection…

Have be en reading somewhere that TDI cars do not need a retune to get some power gains whit watermethanol kit, like 10-15% % gains, but better be safe then sorry check it upp before installing.

I haven’t heard anything that it would be illegal in road car, I’ve in my camper van and it’s been really good help for in old tired diesel engine(not so old but..) 2.8jtd has liked a lot of water/methanol mix, sometimes even pure tap water been runned through. It’s been fascinating to see when motor breaking it makes a boost and immediately when steps on the pedal, it’s ready to go. And helps for the fuel economy nicely. Normally around 15L per hundred kilometers but now with constant water flow between 12-13 👌

Would you be able to use the water out of a Dehumidifier?

    • @torquecars
      @torquecars  5 месяцев назад

That is fairly pure, it will probably contain a little dust, but there will be no mineral deposits to speak off so theoretically it would be a good solution if you pardon the pun.

Wrapping your exhaust and turbo to keep the heat in them reduces efficiency.
I never understand why people don't run a small tank, radiator and pump to remove heat.
By insulating, you keep the heat in, don't allow it to scape and cause lots of problems.
