Easy to understand changed my plans. I like this system since it take up less room and will be stronger than a storage tub. Also food grade for sure. I plan to make one of these from in my place, grow bed will reach the window I plan to set it by. My guess is you washed the clay at the end? Great Video. Plan to make a IBC system but want to start small and have a place for small fish before moving them.
I know this is an old vid but you don't need to shrink the bottom half the top half will fit all you need to do is fasten it drill some holes matching the top and bottom matching the holes at the top then use wire or whatever to tighten and it will fit perfectly plus it makes it really sturdy

Great video, I modelled my setup after it. I used an old computer desk because I didn't want to cut the fish part of the barrel but the concept is almost all from this video. I have one question though: Is this system self sustaining? In other words, will my fish (tilapia) breed and grow as I eat a few of them each month, or will I need to set up a separate breeding colony?
Shouldn't your grow bed be a bit larger? With that small a grow bed, you'd have to have a low stocking density. The minimal fish tank to grow bed ratio is 1:1

Could you use heat to soften the edge and taper it out?
