- The Findlays (Bea Arthur and Bill Macy) have to save their dinner party by reconciling Arthur and Vivian (Conrad Bain and Rue McClanahan) after a fight.
From Season 2, Episode 15 'The Love Birds' - Maude & Walter invite Vivian and Arthur over for dinner, but Maude is not looking forward to the lovebirds cooing over each other. They arrive, but arguing. Arthur constantly talks about his dead wife.

About Maude: Gutsy, smart, outspoken, and liberal -- all are terms that describe Beatrice Arthur in the title role of the TV series that spun off from the popular All in the Family. Well-educated and upper-middle-class, Maude Findlay is the archetypal feminist of her generation. She lives in suburban Tuckahoe, New York, with her fourth husband, Walter (Bill Macy), their divorced daughter, Carol (Adrienne Barbeau), and grandson Phillip. The cast also includes Rue McClanahan as Maude's best friend Vivian; Walter's best friend and neighbor Dr. Arthur Harmon (Conrad Bain); and over the course of the series, three different maids (Esther Rolle, Hermione Baddeley and Marlene Warfield). Tough issues like abortion, alcoholism, women's liberation, menopause and politics are all fodder for the show's sharp wit and social commentary.

For many years I thought Rue's voice on Golden Girls was her real voice. Its definitely weird to hear her real voice

I actually thought Maude sounded very much like Dorothy soothing Blanche when she was dateless one night...the only difference was no southern accent..but the chemistry and sentiment was Golden
same with Sue Ann & Rose.
Indeed I wish that Betty White had also had a role on Maude. It would be great to see all three of them together.

Quite a good group of actors. This was a very popular and unique show
I forgot they were both in this show together. But they never showed this show in syndication in my area until several years ago so I didn't even know it existed until I saw Bea Arthur's biography
This show was incredibly popular in its day. It's a spinoff off All in the Family.
I never really watched "Maude" much when it was first on, but to see Bea Arthur and Rue Machlanahan(??) together as Maude and Viv reminded me of Dorothy Zhbornak and Blanche Devereaux from "The Golden Girls." The actor playing Arthur looked like Conrad Bain from "Diff'rent Strokes."

This show was ahead of its time. It came on before I was born. Bea Arthur is my hero. I get some vibes from her, but she lived in a different place and time. If you know, you know.😉

@@tj.espygil4544 Always wondered even the Golden girls is my favorite sitcom when it comes to their performances but there is so much more than the Golden girls and we put these people in a box and we only call them their characters from the Golden girls when they did movies TV shows commercials they did game shows it is so many many many things and we just categorize them only for Golden girls that’s it nothing more nothing less as if that’s all they accomplished was one thing in their career
