Lyrics :
We were born before the wind
Also younger than the sun
Ere the bonnie boat was won as we sailed into the mystic
Hark, now hear the sailors cry
Smell the sea and feel the sky
Let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic
And when that fog horn blows, you know I will be coming home
And when that fog horn blows I've got to hear it
I don't have to fear it
I want to rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
And magnificently we will float into the mystic
Guitar Solo :
And when that fog horn blows you know I will be coming home
And when that fog horn whistle blows I've got to hear it
I don't have to fear it
I want to rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
And together we will float as we said into the mystic
We were born before the wind
Also younger than the sun
Ere the bonnie boat was won as we sailed into the mystic
Joe Crocker was an uninvited guest at my aunts wedding. He drank all the vermouth proposed a toast and sang happy birthday 3 times. He signed my copy of Hotel California!
Wow. Even better if it was Joe Cocker :)
@@johnlyon326 who?
😂😂😂😂😂😂@@johnlyon326
Joe needs too be in the Rock n Roll Fame! It’s a injustice to Rock Music, that he’s not.
I could not agree more.
I'm a lifelong Van Morrison fan. That is my favorite Van Morrison song, without a doubt. And Joe pounded it outta the park, Fantatic passion. Love it.
100% ✌️
I concur. This is on the Organic album and it was where I first ever heard this song. Joe definitely put his own spin on it. They each have their own vibe.
wish't there was a Joe/van duet of ENLIGHTENMENT, oh me/oh my...🕊
To me, he does it better than Morrison
...you don't have to be a 54 y/o, white balding bulging graying dude who loves the original version and this one by Joe to accept life, make it better and to appreciate what it really is. A pure gift.
Amen 🙏🏽
I love Joe Cocker ❤
Amem
Greatest song ever
The only other man to truly do this monumental song justice.
Joe made this song his own. God bless you, Joe.
Joe Cocker always sang with his heart and soul, he meant every single word and movement, Joe is now resting in eternal peace in Heaven
In the early 1990's I worked as an editor for a music magazine. The record companies would give me free tickets to all the concerts. I never saw a better concert in my life than the one Joe Cocker put on.
He always OWNED any song he ever did!Interpretive geniuses like this artist don't come along very often, who can make you FEEL a song like you've never heard it before , even if youve already heard it a thousand times !
Aretha Franklin shared this gift she stepped in for Pavarotti . I always have loved Joe Cocker style and music, as well as Jim Morrison people who sing from their soul deep down in their soul, can truly sing anything.♥️
Joe Cocker is basically just a karaoke performer with a great voice. Van Morrison is a true artist
All these years later, I still get the chills. SO beautiful. Thank you, and RIP, Joe.
Van Morrison would be very proud of Joes version. May you R.I.P. Joe...you were one of the greatest !!!
Waterfrontlivin Bob Allman Brothers do a fair version as well.
OLDSKOOL60813 so does Jason Isbell.. its so awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sandra sword jason isbell is awesome
+Waterfrontlivin Bob This lifelong fan of Van's music disagrees. In interviews, Van likes almost nobody's music except for a handful of old-timers who influenced him. He's a pompous, narrow-minded, arrogant ass who is very territorial about his own music. Joe Cocker was a great singer and seemed like a really nice guy. In terms of the latter, he's got Van beat.
Def one of the most unique & passionate singers ever.
One of the hardest working people I ever had the pleasure of working with. Gave every show all he had.
Well done Joe Cocker: I remember you, young man- what a pleasure to see you again, and hear this beautiful, beautiful song I remember so well. Thank you.
That guitarist's solo is just perfection.
Dean Parks
This is my Van Morrison soul song, but I must say this is a wonderful rendition.
Dean Parks on acoustic guitar. A real treat and master of his craft.
My young life..is back..Van & Joe..
This rendition of 'Into the Mystic ' by Joe Cocker and the musicians, sound engineers moved my soul to its very core.
Joe's voice and emotions are pure mystical magic.
Whatever song Joe sang , he owned it. R.I.P. Joe Cocker ):
sadly , we will never see a talent like joe , ever again , thank you joe, forever u are remembered
Even as an old, sweaty man, Joe Cocker was sooooo special. This is just beautiful! RIP, and thank you a thousand times over.
God blees you Joe Crocker for rocking so many songs!
Man wat goed, nooit zo geïnteresseerd geweest in Joe Cocker, maar wat is het 'n fenomeen !
The guy was truly a musical magician.
I love when a song is covered and the originators intent isn’t lost. A great cover by Joe as usual!
You know that Joe poured his soul into every song he sang! Some thought he had a problem. Far from the truth he felt every note! Such a tremendous talent! RIP Joe you were a once in a lifetime talent!!
They don't make them like him anymore. He is sorely missed. Rip Joe! We will always love you.
JC, make no mistake, you are also younger than the sun... You had a special story telling ability that took complex, didactical life lessons and delivered them to us in a way that allowed us to clearly understand them.. THANK YOU for sharing your gifts with us....
Nice cover of one of my favorite Van Morrison songs. He captures the spirit of it very well. RIP Joe Cocker.
Does anyone put more of themselves into a song??? What a talent!!!! R.I.P.
This is fantastic. Thanks, Joe Cocker!!!!
This man always gave me thrills of pleasure! God, I hated to hear of his loss. Rock on, Joe!
Loved it. He done as good as van Morrison. Fantastic. Love songs that reach inside of you all the way to your soul.
He always gives it his all.. 🎙
RIP Joe Cocker. You’re a legend in your own right, still rocking souls. God bless you.
Brilliant gitar accoustic play ... Joe Cocker absolutely so soulfull
Awesome! Wowser! Joe Crocker one of THE BEST!
He put his Soul into the music in his own special way that will be heard and felt for generations, thank you Joe .......
There are few artists/vocalists that could sing literally anything and move you spiritually, Joe was one of them, a massive talent, R.I.P Joe
Lived in a small town in the US when he was older West Colorado.. I never thought of that. Just scrolling and did a double take. That is true. Not the greatest RnR voice, but Cocker sang with such a passion they he could span quite a variety of genres and make it work. I think he was a very humble performer.
This is one of the most beautiful performances I've ever heard. Van should be proud of Joe's performance of his song.
Whoever he is, that acoustic guitarist is SUPREME. Thank you man, that was some sweet pickin'.
Err says in the notes? Dean Parks
Dean also was the (unseen) guitar genius behind the sweet sound of the group Steely Dan
I adored Joe Cocker...absolutely. Mad Dogs & Englishmen was 1 of the 1st 5 Albums I bought as a young woman.
HE IS A MUSICAL ICON. HIS MUSIC WILL PLAY ON FOREVER .SADLY MISSED FOEVER LOVED . INTO THE MISTIC. IS ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS HE EVER SANG AND IT WAS ONE OF THE MOST REQUESTED . IT WILL FOREVER BE ONE OF MINE.
Songs channeled through Joe Cocker's heart came out like new creations - what a gift.
Joe, in his day, was the most orgasmic singer. He and Leon R.were unbelievable. I was in love with them both.
No one can beat Van the Man, but this is a great version! Joe Cocker was such a magnificent singer - gone before his time!

He do the best cover version all times of Van Morrisons song. ❤️

Joe Cocker's gigs are like the world series last game. he gives each and every one everything he has in him. You can tell he is drained at the end.

Now my 2nd favorite version of this song......never new Joe covered it....what a great job!
By the magic of RUclips I ended up here with the beautiful cover of “Into the Mystic” thank you. I love the guitar and of course the soulful sound on Joe Cocker.
Well said that's what RUclips, magically provides now and again, I'm 64 big big fan of Joe, and van, 2 really unique talents that so many people really get hooked too
Joe was an extremely talented singer and could turn almost any writer's song into a hit! He's sorely missed.
I love Joe's voice! I'm no expert but I don't know of any other singer that put more of thier physical embodiment into a song.
My young life is back..Van & Joe..wow

Honestly, i love this song and i have most likely heard 95 % of the covers on RUclips. Joe just rules. Hard to equal Van on this one, but - almost, almost....
i was hooked when i heard Delta Lady back in the day. You're the best Joe.
MUSIC IS THE SOUND OF THE WAY WE FEEL WHEN WE HAVE NO WORDS.

Wonderful! I Love you Mr. Cocker, in the end of Time! You was, like my Father!
You know I remember Joe Cocker singing when I was having a bad day at work when I was growing up as a Young Man in the service and all I can remember is kicking back and let him take it from there r i p Joe
Wow, Joe!! I Adore Van Morrison’s Version Of His Own Lovely Creation.. But, Good Lord ~ YOU Sir, Were TRULY Something Special!!
Love & light from Brazil... RIP Joe 💔
Geeze , Joe had some damn good players there at that time . I loved the man and his music .
Never saw this til now. I like it. A lot.
Beautiful voice.
All I can say is thank you. RIP Joe.
Joe said he always wanted to be a "bees winger" a singer and he made these songs his own he was born with that gift so said Ray Charles, how many of today's singers will be remembered for such a voice. Miss you Joe! RIP.
When Joe sweats like this you know the performance was perfect
RIP
An awesome version of one Van's best songs, by one of the few artists gutsy enough to interpret him!
I don't know how he did it, but Joe would literally own any song that he sang.
Do you remember when this great singer stood upon this earth? I am happy that he shared his music and life with us. I was 14 when I first heard him on my album of Woodstock.
great redemption of that song, he was great and died to soon.. I will always love his raspy voice and tremendous talent and his cross generation existence
wow, didnt think anyone except Van Morrison could do it.. great job Joe Cocker..RIP
Man, Joe Cocker did this song proud!
Joe is amazing but so is this band. Jim Keltner does some magic in this tune.
Joe had to be a successful musician and singer as he would scare most people to death if he turned up at their door as a plumber, Good old Joe Cocker wonderful singer.
What beautiful words put in lyrics by Joe Cocker ..the legend never to be forgotten...this band is great..
well, it was Van Morrison that put the words into lyrics.
Joe Cocker sings Van Morrison Song, great!
I love this..fricking awesome!!!

Joe giving every ounce he's got as usual … respectful version of Van's masterpiece.
