I concur. This is on the Organic album and it was where I first ever heard this song. Joe definitely put his own spin on it. They each have their own vibe.
Joe Crocker was an uninvited guest at my aunts wedding. He drank all the vermouth proposed a toast and sang happy birthday 3 times. He signed my copy of Hotel California!
...you don't have to be a 54 y/o, white balding bulging graying dude who loves the original version and this one by Joe to accept life, make it better and to appreciate what it really is. A pure gift.
He always OWNED any song he ever did!Interpretive geniuses like this artist don't come along very often, who can make you FEEL a song like you've never heard it before , even if youve already heard it a thousand times !
Aretha Franklin shared this gift she stepped in for Pavarotti . I always have loved Joe Cocker style and music, as well as Jim Morrison people who sing from their soul deep down in their soul, can truly sing anything.♥️
+Waterfrontlivin Bob This lifelong fan of Van's music disagrees. In interviews, Van likes almost nobody's music except for a handful of old-timers who influenced him. He's a pompous, narrow-minded, arrogant ass who is very territorial about his own music. Joe Cocker was a great singer and seemed like a really nice guy. In terms of the latter, he's got Van beat.
The great male voices of my lifetime - Joe Cocker, Leon Russell, Van Morrison, Ray Charles, Sam Cooke, Harry Belafonte, Eric Burdon, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, each instantly recognizable, and each capable of stopping me dead in my tracks...to listen.
In the early 1990's I worked as an editor for a music magazine. The record companies would give me free tickets to all the concerts. I never saw a better concert in my life than the one Joe Cocker put on.

I never thought of that. Just scrolling and did a double take. That is true. Not the greatest RnR voice, but Cocker sang with such a passion they he could span quite a variety of genres and make it work. I think he was a very humble performer.

This rendition of 'Into the Mystic ' by Joe Cocker and the musicians, sound engineers moved my soul to its very core.
You know that Joe poured his soul into every song he sang! Some thought he had a problem. Far from the truth he felt every note! Such a tremendous talent! RIP Joe you were a once in a lifetime talent!!
Take me back to a time gone by, and then leave me alone to cry. We lived through the best that history has to offer. I wish I was leaving the same behind for those who follow. Thank You Joe. And thank you Andranik for posting this 14 years ago!
JC, make no mistake, you are also younger than the sun... You had a special story telling ability that took complex, didactical life lessons and delivered them to us in a way that allowed us to clearly understand them.. THANK YOU for sharing your gifts with us....
By the magic of RUclips I ended up here with the beautiful cover of “Into the Mystic” thank you. I love the guitar and of course the soulful sound on Joe Cocker.
Well said that's what RUclips, magically provides now and again, I'm 64 big big fan of Joe, and van, 2 really unique talents that so many people really get hooked too
Well done Joe Cocker: I remember you, young man- what a pleasure to see you again, and hear this beautiful, beautiful song I remember so well. Thank you.
Joe said he always wanted to be a "bees winger" a singer and he made these songs his own he was born with that gift so said Ray Charles, how many of today's singers will be remembered for such a voice. Miss you Joe! RIP.
HE IS A MUSICAL ICON. HIS MUSIC WILL PLAY ON FOREVER .SADLY MISSED FOEVER LOVED . INTO THE MISTIC. IS ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS HE EVER SANG AND IT WAS ONE OF THE MOST REQUESTED . IT WILL FOREVER BE ONE OF MINE.
Joe's been around since the 70s. Others found his inspiring soul & did their versions. His concerts were real and strong. You knew you had been sung to on the way home from his shows. Atlanta Auditorium early 70's. He was mesmerizing. Thanks for this video.
its not only that Joe sing with lot of passion , but\and in top of that he never wear dark glasses like some others and let us make an eye contact to feel what he feels
Joe had to be a successful musician and singer as he would scare most people to death if he turned up at their door as a plumber, Good old Joe Cocker wonderful singer.
Do you remember when this great singer stood upon this earth? I am happy that he shared his music and life with us. I was 14 when I first heard him on my album of Woodstock.
I bought a rather pricey ticket to see Joe Cocker in Abington Virginia, 70's maybe 80's. Unfortunately, he was unable to stand up and sing, falling out of the spotlight several times then helped offstage. Likely he was into the bottle. His backup singers and Billy Preston did a great job. I was not disappointed at all. I was in the same room with his greatness and I did see him. That, surprisingly was enough. He was such a talent with the desire to just be happy. Just that, happy. His choice was indeed a sad one though. I never did get another chance to see him live. Never got a chance to stand at the entrance to his home in Colorado and just be there. There is one thing that no one can ever dispute. He poured every cell of his being into every moment of every song. Air guitar and all. I miss you sir. But thank you for making me smile whenever I watch you live here on RUclips.
My young life..is back..Van & Joe..
Joe needs too be in the Rock n Roll Fame! It’s a injustice to Rock Music, that he’s not.
I could not agree more.
I'm a lifelong Van Morrison fan. That is my favorite Van Morrison song, without a doubt. And Joe pounded it outta the park, Fantatic passion. Love it.
100% ✌️
I concur. This is on the Organic album and it was where I first ever heard this song. Joe definitely put his own spin on it. They each have their own vibe.
wish't there was a Joe/van duet of ENLIGHTENMENT, oh me/oh my...🕊
To me, he does it better than Morrison
Joe Crocker was an uninvited guest at my aunts wedding. He drank all the vermouth proposed a toast and sang happy birthday 3 times. He signed my copy of Hotel California!
Wow. Even better if it was Joe Cocker :)

Joe Cocker always sang with his heart and soul, he meant every single word and movement, Joe is now resting in eternal peace in Heaven
There are few artists/vocalists that could sing literally anything and move you spiritually, Joe was one of them, a massive talent, R.I.P Joe

Does anyone put more of themselves into a song??? What a talent!!!! R.I.P.
No one can beat Van the Man, but this is a great version! Joe Cocker was such a magnificent singer - gone before his time!

He put his being into it
Joe's voice and emotions are pure mystical magic.
That guitarist's solo is just perfection.
Dean Parks
My young life is back..Van & Joe..wow
Dean Parks on acoustic guitar. A real treat and master of his craft.
They don't make them like him anymore. He is sorely missed. Rip Joe! We will always love you.
Joe Cocker...another timeless recording artist....Thanks Joe for all you have contributed to the world of music.
Joe from his soul. Better than

I love when a song is covered and the originators intent isn’t lost. A great cover by Joe as usual!
Nice cover of one of my favorite Van Morrison songs. He captures the spirit of it very well. RIP Joe Cocker.
One of the hardest working people I ever had the pleasure of working with. Gave every show all he had.
The guy was truly a musical magician.
This is my Van Morrison soul song, but I must say this is a wonderful rendition.
Take me back to a time gone by, and then leave me alone to cry. We lived through the best that history has to offer. I wish I was leaving the same behind for those who follow. Thank You Joe. And thank you Andranik for posting this 14 years ago!
Whoever he is, that acoustic guitarist is SUPREME. Thank you man, that was some sweet pickin'.
Err says in the notes? Dean Parks
Dean also was the (unseen) guitar genius behind the sweet sound of the group Steely Dan

Perfection! The acoustic guitar was superb.
Joe sings with real feelings from the heart
Why can't I add this to my favorites! Love it. Thank you so much.
I adored Joe Cocker...absolutely. Mad Dogs & Englishmen was 1 of the 1st 5 Albums I bought as a young woman.
In loving memory to my beautiful sister margaret, she has flown into the mystic. Love you, miss you. Much. Be happy🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼😘
Great backing band as well-just perfect
I'll take the memory of J.C. live in Austin Texas in front of A reported 90K in attendance..He gave us an amazing show..circa 1975.
Joe is amazing but so is this band. Jim Keltner does some magic in this tune.
What beautiful words put in lyrics by Joe Cocker ..the legend never to be forgotten...this band is great..
well, it was Van Morrison that put the words into lyrics.
Joe always added something special to what ever “cover” he did. Reproduced as his own
