Hi Jedi! I wonder if part of the neatness of these stories is the fact that they're unfinished and communicated only through a few lines of quest text. That leaves much more up to the imagination, and it limits how much incompetence the writers can display. (Always leave them wanting more, so they say.) Maybe the only reason why classic WoW is as interesting as it is is because it's a web of whispers and innuendo instead of full campaigns that explore every aspect of the story.
I somewhat agree, a complete story can be cool like with Arthas but even then people still debate if he was right to kill everyone in Stratholm (he was). It’s the same with zones, every zone in classic has wide open wild places with nothing but abandoned camps and small clues to lost stories. Full cluttered chaotic retail zones just feel fake and soulless.
It's a double-edged sword in writing. With answers comes criticism. Blizzard inevitably was going to run into those issues as they released each expansion because players want satisfying conclusions to all the loose ends, but the unforeseen popularity of the franchise led to rushed storylines that had to be retconned in order to further the story - retconning Illidan's demise in BC to being simply captured so he can be used in Legion, for example. LOST had a similar problem. The mystery and wonder of the first season was precisely what made it so intriguing. The popularity of the show demanded a perpetual continuation which led to a lot of storylines being dragged on and led to lower ratings, which the producers used to argue with the studio to give them a definite end to the show so they could structure it better. Some elements outside of their control such as the writer's strike or certain actors wanting out of their contract led to some stories ending prematurely, like Mr. Ekko's. For what it's worth, Blizzard could have done things better / differently, particularly with Shadowlands, but no matter what, nothing will ever compare to the charm of Vanilla. Sequels rarely ever beat the original, the one exception is probably the Lord of the Rings.
@@Lionimia the Lord of the Rings was written as one tome and divided upon request of the publisher. Writing a part 2 as an author is hard. Harder still when it wasn't your part one. Harder still when you're writing part 99 and you don't even know who wrote 98, let alone have read all of them.
5:18 rumors of the princess being kidnapped en route to Redridge Mountains would make a lot of sense. The path from Dun Morogh to Redridge has you go through Blackrock Mountain and there's a quest in BRD to save her. Pretty neat
Blackrock used to be part of the Redridge Mountains before the eruption, so perhaps she was on a secret diplomatic mission to the Dark Irons in the first place?
I read a lot of the quests back in the day, but mostly just to figure out where to go. I didn't often understand completely what was going on in the lore, especially not connect the dots like this. Very interesting stuff!
Counterpoint: I would honestly believe that they would use rare and powerful metals to create a bear-proof strongbox. Bears are... pretty good at cracking things open.
So wait.. he has stored meats for months but went out to hunt deer? Was a seasoned mountaineer unable to bring back something to eat? He said he will starve without the box but he is at least willing to attempt hunting the local wildlife. Very strange indeed
This series was very good. I love when you find hidden gems like these. It bring this game to life for me so much more, and that is even after all these years of playing it. Thank you so much! I look forward to more.
What's inside the thorium lockbox? "Meat". Soruce: trustmebro Like I would believe that. Who uses thorium of all things to lock meat in it! AND THAT YETI IS A DARK IRON IN DISGUISE!!
I like the idea that some folk are smuggling riches out of the treasurey in case the dark iron take over. Adds to the feeling of the bronzebeard elite being on edge
Jedi! i feel like we could've used your help with the Felcycle puzzles assuming you weren't already involved in the secret finding discord's efforts to solve it. your curious nature and hunger for piecing together secrets and mysteries would be perfect for the community
I really enjoy these videos delving into mysteries and conspiracies I had no idea about. I should give Classic a go some time - I feel like I didn't appreciate the world as much as I should have before Cataclysm came along.
It makes me wonder, if Onyxia, or Prestor, sent away the dwarf embassy to Stormwind, is it possible they had suspicions of what was happening? Maybe saving their own coin in case they were being manipulated
Do not pry any further. Final warning
Bro's body gonna be found in Karzahan's catacombs 💀💀
That's exactly what he needed to hear to keep digging.

I do think that's a strength. In modern WoW there can be no secrets, even the intricate details of the afterlife are laid bare at this point.

@qwopiretyu Well, I meant the movies, since it's not particularly easy translating a book to film.

I think they wrote a whole book about what happened with Moira as ofc later on she became one of the racial leaders of the dwarves.

@1:29 I can tell yer not a dwarf laddie! Brewing the perfect stout is of utmost importance!
Ohhh, Tundra MacGrann! That quest is one of my favourite little hidden things I've stumbled across
Not mentioned - in that quest you don't retrieve the box but you do open it and it does just have meat in it. Its a fun story to come up with though!
you've pretty much debunked the theory lmao

Great video as always Jedi! Love Dun Morogh, hope to see more on this kind of stuff soon. :)

5:50 didn't think there were lore implications behind this.
This is the attention to detail I pray is given to Classic+ development.

Jedi! Can you make a video about The Argus Wake? Cultist group associated with the Syndicate.
Happy holidays Jedi. Love your theory videos. Best WoW channel
