I dug this kinda video on this lol I'm looking to get my first pair of M12s (first pair of inlines in like 15 years 😂) and now I'm just super nervous about getting the right size since I need to order online
@@AlmostLakai94 fwiw, I bought 909s with intuition liners. I'm a solid 42. I was skating 265 mondo rollerblades and went with small 909s because they were 265 mondo and the intuition liners are supposed to be used for downsizing. I've only skated then for a few hours 3 times or so, they are very tight. I don't really notice pain until I take them off and realize my toes are a bit numb. They fit real nice though. Can't speak highly enough about the liners, if they are within budget.
@@unlearningify I'm right around 255mm so I'm thinking maybe I'll be an 8 for the Roces? I've heard great things about those liners so I'll probably be looking into those if I do run into any fit issues or just down the line in general
Just started skating. I'm a size 13 shoe. I got the size 15 M12s because I read I should go two sizes up... I have a lot of toe room and the 15s are STILL too narrow for me. They've absolutely been destroying the sides of my feet and ankles for the past month. Blisters the size of golfballs on the inside of my arches. I was really reluctant to spend another 200+ but I just bought the Razors SL size 13 with all the consensus that they're much wider. This video helped me confirm that the purchase was a good idea and if things go south I'll experiment with liners like you mentioned
I love the crown liner! I think it is underrated. And if you need to fill the width of a skate - they work the best for that. Great content man. Thank you! Please continue your work. You are a great skater, and you have a great ability to express your thoughts. Your channel will grow soon!
Such a good video. Similar to you, I had a false restart 10 years ago because I bought some skates and they never felt right. Mostly due to weight. With COVID and turning 39, I started looking at skating again and was super frustrated at the lack of info about skate weight. The Aeons were compelling due to the unibody construction and less bolts. Given how short supply everything is, I ended up on 909s because it was so insanely difficult to find anything in my size. Anyway, love the deep dive you did. With online shopping being the norm, the more info shared, the better. It also shows that just because something doesn’t feel right, it may not be us and our old age. Cheers.
How are the 909s? Mine are coming in a couple days. Ive always been a razors fan but then ended up getting Genesys 11 and I hated them. And they also feel very heavy. But anyway how are the 909s, what do you think? Because it seems like we in the same boat haha
Al Dolega thanks! It’s funny, those aren’t actually Tides, but they look damn close. I was actually trying to dye them grey (I even refreshed my memory with your old turorial). The grey I bought ended up looking like baby blue and I didn’t like it. My wife randomly had some green dye so I decided to mix that in to try to neutralize the blue... which resulted in accidental Tides!
I recently bought USD Carbon Frees but they are not comfortable. I thought the comfort would improve after a few sessions but unfortunately it didn't get better. Getting some Razors SL White this weekend. I have wide feet so they sound pretty good for me. Great content! Subscribed.
So happy i came across this video. I bought m12's when i got back in to skating and they are incredibly narrow on my. big boat feet. Going to give the SL a try thank you
I am honstly really thankful For These Kind of Videos. Just Like you Im somewhat obsessive regarding These Kind of Things and I have been looking for a wide Boot having 285x110 feet. Everyone suggested the Razors SL and I disregarded the M12 as an Option. But knowing that the M12 in 45/46 is "only" 299 Long, leaving 1,5cm for the Liner and you Being able to fit with 110 width gives me hopes that M12 might actually fit me Well. Good Thing I didnt Order the Razors SL as These probably would have been to big for me aswell. The only Thing confusing me is that ThisIsSouls spreadsheet regarding internal Shell length seems to overestimate the length multiple Times. As they say that 45/46 M12s should be 310 in length and I also could Not replicate their findings regarding the 45/46 USD sway Shell my measurement Being aswell 1cm shorter. Also saying that the 43/44 5th element is 302 in length but BackToBlading Measuring 295 on His Lifestream. Anyways enough Ramble, thank you very much for the Video was very helpful.
Thanks for making this very specific video. I have almost the exact same size feet as you and find m12s perfect in length but slightly too narrow. Was thinking of trying SLs
Great info! I had the same experience with the 909s: with my mondo 25.0 I'm exactly in between XS and S - one too small, the other too big. BUT: 909s absolutely worth the money!
In case you still have those Unnaturals in the back of your closet and feel like messing around with them on occasion, I found two small changes turned them into a completely different skate -- adding heel pads (I used the Powerslide gel ones, which were perfect since I was getting into some high-impact tricks at the time. I think the SL pads would be great too though since you have them already), and not lacing the last two or three loops. The combination of the leverage from the heel pad and the lower lacing tripled the front/back flex and completely brought the skates alive. They kept their lateral rigidity, which when combined with their small soles make them super responsive and a lot more fun to mess around with on flat ground/small stuff or on big air type stuff than the other aggressive skates I've tried. Not my daily drivers anymore since I'm focusing on upping my grind game, but I still whip them out every now and then.
Excellent info, thank you for going in depth, as I’m very particular also. I’m just getting back to skating after 25 years, and I’ve been having the hardest time finding something that works for my size and purpose. I have tiny narrow feet, 24.2 cm, and I want an aggressive boot with a 4x80 setup for urban skating. The Aeon 60 fit me perfectly, but the Aeon 80’s smallest size is one size too big. I like the Aeons because you can remove the heel shock absorber for a flat sole, but with the M12 or Razor cult (both narrow boots), you are stuck with their raised heels. The SL was just suggested to me, but they seem like they’re going to be way too big for me in their smallest size, and I have the same concern with you about the liner losing body and the skate getting even more sloppy. The Aeon 60 would be perfect if I could change the frames, but I can’t unfortunately. I don’t want to go with a dedicated urban skate because I’d like the flexibility to still do some aggressive tricks, even though I’ll be mostly skating urban. I also don’t like the style of a lot of urban skates as they look more “fitness spandex” to me… no hate towards people who like that, it’s just not me… a bit superficial maybe, but hey, we like what we like. Anyway, I’m at a point where I wonder if I should just skate the Aeons for urban, just cause they fit well, but I’ve been convinced by other people that 60mm wheels are going to suck for skating around town. Seems like my options are pretty limited and I need to compromise somewhere, either with the raised heels of the M12 or Cult, or go with a more dedicated urban setup, or just skate the Aeon 60s… still not sure.
I’m sorry I missed this! Have you considered the 909 80’s? I assume you’ve already made a decision at this point. I don’t think the SL’s would work for you, too wide. Shifts would be a better Razors option. Maybe the USD sway?
@@RollOverTheHill Thanks, I actually ended up going with FR FR1 skates, as I found that all I'm interested in doing is urban skating. They seems to be working would just fine for me.
Foot Width needs be reduced at least 10% when buying skates, depends on your pain tolerance. Pinching on the side of the foot can easily reduce foot by 10mm without pain. That's the control we need in skates
I love the 8/9 SL boot but I’ve had lots of trouble finding a liner to properly fit in that boot. I need a Fatboy style foot with a 2nd Skin style cuff/tongue.
So I am looking for skates I hope I purchased the right size I got the M 12 I have a size 8 1/2 wide foot so I ordered a tan in the skate because normally for regular shoes because I do have a wide foot I usually order a nine for a regular shoe and they said they go up one size what’s your opinion they have an arrived yet but I’m watching videos
Hi, I have a question about sizing. My foot is 28.4 cm and narrow. I am tempted to order an 11 roces m12 lo pro, but i don’t know if I should order a 10.5 or 11 or is this the same shell? Lol hellllllp
Quick question. With the m12's have you found it necessary to size up? Looking at those and the 5th elements based on your videos, and my hesitation with the 5th elements is that they are super bulky. I love my 909s, but not sure if the m12 will be too narrow. I think my feet are average to narrow. I feel like I have good room in the 909. Any advice is super helpful. Thanks!
The issue with M12’s for me is that the shell is an 11/12 so it’s a bit long for me. The 10 shell is too short. That said, when I tried on the 10 shell the width wasn’t an issue, it was just the length. My feet are fairly narrow I guess. Medium 909’s feel fine width wise for me, but they’re slightly short on my longer foot.
@@RollOverTheHill Any good way to find the shell length? I am torn between the 9 and 10. Really appreciate all the feedback- you're channel has been a huge help in getting back into skating.
If I’m a size 12 with wide feet (4.45”) and big ankles with big bones.... which one would you recommend SL size 12 or maybe a M12 size 13 or 14 ? Or a 5th Element? I don’t care if they’re boat anchors I just want something that fits comfortable.
I would recommend the SL. The M12’s will be too narrow, and I don’t think there is a long enough 5th element. Another option might be the large Them 909. They are wider than the 909.
@@RollOverTheHill thank you. The Shifts got here and they fit me, I’m noticing a bit of pressure on the toe area. Might heat heat mold this pair. The shifts are more comfy than the Urban FR1 90’s, not feeling any discomfort on my ankle bones unlike the FR1’s. Definitely a keeper for me. Will be ordering the SL and the large 909’s just to have different ones.
