A little advice for your viewers on changing the port widths. Make sure the cutouts in the sides of the piston, if it has any, will not allow the air fuel charge out of the port at any time. The easiest way to do this is with the cylinder still on the engine. Put a pencil point on the side of the port, and rotate the crank a few times all the way around so the piston rubs on the pencil as it goes past. Do this to both sides of all the ports you intend to modify. Remove the cylinder and see where your pencil marks are on the piston. You can widen the port so the lines are at least 2mm from the cutouts. Also, increasing the port timings by 1mm or so could make your engine have little to no bottom end acceleration. These mods could still have adverse effects on your engine's performance, so tread with caution. If you cannot afford to junk your engine, don't touch the widths or timings. Stick with cleaning up the trash! You will be surprised at the improvements that alone will make! Remember, air is like a fluid...easier in, easier out. You may also have to richen your jetting. Research reading spark plugs and piston wash. When in doubt, add more fuel. Start rich and go from there.
I like your Happy Time Harry, Meatwad, and Mighty Mouse tattoos! Probably not too many people even know who they are or where they're from though... :(
Old school rules ! I hear Happy Time Harry is making a comeback

Great video brother....I've been building and racing drag cars,, bikes and 4wheelers for 37 yrs but only 3yrs on these little engines and it's amazing how just that little bit of cutting that you showed makes a huge difference...all the yrs I've been building engines and working in a automotive machine shop I never worked on a 2 stroke all the bike and 4wheelers I drag raced were all 4 stroke so it's been a learning curve for me...lol but u really enjoy it...I'm to old to be going crazy fast anymore... those are great tips ..... thanks for the video brother
...
My neighbor just brought me a broke down bike with a seized clutch. I ordered a new engine kit for it. Gonna follow these instructions before i ever run it. TY!
Your explanation of how to port and why.... It's amazing. And easy to understand. Thank you for your videos. I gotta say, you and LA hover bikes make great videos
On my 3rd engine 3rd winter working on an engine. Many times watching this. Love the honesty with you. This works
Glad it helped
Hands down the best video out there on porting .. many many thanks
Yea. I wish i watched it a few months ago because 95% of people in Fakebook groups been saying do nothing whatsoever to the intake port.. So the only thing I did was the exhaust port.. Yes I saw some power but probably could of been better now that I see him saying to do this.

For all those that don't have a ported cylinder then you should buy one from this man because it makes a big difference!!!! He's also very professional. He answers all your questions and ships it out within a few days. I also have another bike I can't get running right and he offered to fix it for free (not counting shipping) on his channel
Cool. Glad it worked out for you. Thanks!
@@HughesMotorized you got any advice on vacuum leak where the carb bolts on the intake? I can't tighten it anymore and it's definitely leaking cause of the high idle and if I spray carburetor cleaner there it brings the idle right down. I've seen videos of people putting a bead of silicone around it or wrapping a piece of an inner tube around it and using a hose clamp to tighten it. All kinds of shit
So informative, been building these bad boys with spare cash for two years now. Wish you had posted these videos earlier, my old builds are getting tune-ups I hadn't imagined possible! Sub from me, thanks a lot!
Glad I could help
Badass demo! "Big ass hole" I just got extremely neglected motor bike, I'm watching the heck out of your videos! Thanks because it gives me experience before I experience it for myself. This is really a great idea, just for the fact that it should be done to maximize the efficiency of the motor. Awesome thanks.
1 minute in and hes told the experts to cluck off, i like this channel already
ive learned more in two videos from Hugh than I did in two years of owning a gas bike
Glad I could help. Thanks

Thanx. Great vid. Just getting into 2 stroke bikes. Love the tinkering.
good stuff bro. especially .know u get it when u metioned cross hatching
You're a great teacher man .

You have awesome videos...Thankyou I appreciate and love them.....
Imagine being one of those motorized bike guys/girls who always feel they’re entitled to be negative to others just because they do the same thing differently from them just sad he’s no expert but you know what you aren’t making videos he is show the man some decency and a pinch of respect.
thanxx. Yup. I'm no tuning expert but my bikes run pretty good and they run
Great practical advice

After porting can i just put cylinder back on with piston and fire up after tunning and doing my standard plug chop and niceties no timming right?
Friends, that is some good porting!
Very cool n useful. How much do you charge to port n polish cylinder n block
Thank you sir for all your videos 👍
Glad you like them!
Hi Eugene. I am cleaning out the rubbish in the intakes and lowering the intake and raising the exhaust by 1 mm. So when you say you can leave the carburettor intake slightly rough, how rough do you mean. Do I still need to sand down the carbie intake or can I leave the little grooves from the Dremel in it? And just sand the exhaust intake smooth. Or do you recommend sanding both intakes? Thank you so much for all your help!👍👌
You want to sand both intake and exhaust where they go into cylinder so a ring wont snag on a burr, polish up exhaust and scuff up inside of intake.
Great video man
Hi Eugene, my 80cc kit Just arrived and I’m wondering. I’m going to take the head off because I have a CNC racing head and I’m also going to take the barrel off to have a look at the intake holes. I will use a Dremel and then what grade sandpaper wet and dry do you recommend to finish the barrel with please? Then I see you finally finish with a supermarket green scour pad. Mainly wondering what grade sandpaper to use after the Dremel before the scourer please. Thank you mate. You really have great no-nonsense videos.👍👍👍
320 wet dry sandpaper will get it
Thank you Eugene! You do an excellent job with your video series. Your techniques here have worked for me when combined with carb tuning and a tuned exhaust. Take care.
Great tips. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Packed in everything we needed to know about 2-stroke engine porting. Great video!
Glad it was helpful!
Hey I was wondering if I should cut the exhaust on my stock chrome exhaust from an engine kit? How would it benefit my ride and is it worth it?
@Daniel Macdonald wrong I have done this mod and it doesn't give you more take off speed takeoff is the same you lose mid range and gain top speed
Great video
Great video, thanks for the tips :)
Glad I could help

Is a pz19 the proper carb for an100cc ?
And could I put a pz20 on a 100cc with any adapter?
That was the most amazing demonstration on how to Port these little cylinders ! Thank you very much! My only question is… how do you know you have hit the 1mm spec?
measure the opening or simply guess. Me? I guessed
This guy knows his shit has helped me with my engines just from his vidioes! No air filter made my bikes run smoother and faster and I could go on and on but this guy is the best of the best and without his vidioes I would have been done with this hobby years ago
aww shucks. Thanks
Hi Eugene, thanks very much for all your help lately. But can you please tell me what you mean by a plug chop please. Can you please explain to me how to do it.. as I am replacing my cylinder, piston and rings thank you very much mate. you’re a legend. 👍
Yes I can. There are videos on it. You put a fresh sprk plug in and warm engine up. Run 30 seconds at full throttle. Kill it instantly, pull plug and see color. That will tell you how your jetting is for full throttle (main jet).
THEN you put a fresh plug in, warm it up and run 30 seconds 1/2 throttle, kill it and look at plug. That will tell you how mid-range is working. Stock NT carb, slide needle regulates richness for midrange. Black pug = too rich. Whte deposit on plug = too lean. Coco brown color = just right
I have a 1948 whizzer how do i gain sppeed changing tires of course or pullys and sprickets ik asking ,me hanically shaving the head .and shorting the rod ? Please ,thank you .your a great teacher .!by the way !
I'd offer you speak to some Whizzer experts. I'm sure there's a facebook group. They'd offer tried & tested methods
I have a ported 50cc. Its intake port is HUGE that you can fit 2 fingers easily. Even the exghaust port is big. My daily 66/80cc you can barely fit 1 finger inside the intake port.
Anybody who gets one of these cylinders, you really NEED to get in there, at least with a small file and de-burr those ports or those chunks will enter your cylinder and shorten the life of it by ALOT! I failed to deburr my Zeda-80 kit I had gotten since it came fully assembled, I was replacing the jug two weeks later!
Thank you good stuff
You bet. Thanks
So is this like a Chinese chainsaw ware you can delete the base gasket for more compression? Also what are some good timing numbers, I know my Chinese 58cc saws love 158°int and 100°exh
2-stroke stuffing channel timed one of these engines. The stock timing is waaay off of optimal. I think exhaust is 120 and intake 140? His video shows all the details. He was really surprised.
@Hughes Motorized I have been using BPR6HS spark plug is it good and it looks the same and it works well in my engine.
And one more thing is iridium spark plug okay to work in the 2 stroke engine spark plug 1 BPR7HIX iridium cost $25 here spark plug number 2 BR8HIX iridium cost $41 here so which is the best can you make a video on about this spark plugs and tell us if it's better to run on a normal plug or iridium
Some swear by Iridium plugs. $25 and up? I'll pass. B6HS works for me
@@HughesMotorized that iridium plugs are not cheap that's for sure.
Do you think an iridium plug will last for the whole engine's life? or will it last longer?
that's if you install that plug from the day you start riding.
I always wondered about those transfer ports , they allways looked like they had more potential
Some tuners do some radical stuff to them. Trial & error
Do you advise waiting till after running a tank or two for break in first before porting the cylinder out? Or is it fine to go ahead and port match the exhaust and intake before installing the motor (before break in or running at all) thanks
@Hughes Motorized
I'd say do it before running is best
On the motors I build for myself, I always clean up the ports and match the intake, transfers, and exhaust ports before running the motor. After break-in, I decide if the cleaned-up motor is delivering what I want. Then I will modify the port timing and spend time opening up the exhaust as much as possible. What this video says is fantastic advice for just "winging it" without doing any port timing calculations.
Awesome video thank you for the tip 👍😘💋💯 🥰
You are so welcome
What type of Polish do you use to Port intake and exhaust thank you
You can start with course grade of emory paper , then go finer with the grit . finish with metal polist , a good one is ''solvol'' , its called chrome polish but will do the job fine . I used it on a zzr600 notorbike head for racing in what is called ''clubmans'' in the u.k . one of the important things ios matching the openings so the hole in the exhaust port of the head matches the exhaust pipe , same on the intake side.
Typicaly the hole in the barrel of head will be smaller than the exaust and carb openings
Where did you bought all in one grinder and the vise bench holder
Here you go: amzn.to/2PN0SZ1
Would a simple debur tool work? Or would that screw with gaskets
Can I send in my yd100 head for.you to port? How much would you charge ?
2StrokeStuffing recommends to use a Stone based grinder, so to not grab a chunk of the Nikasil (anti-wear bore coating).
I just seen a video of that guy he was showing his tools and he uses the same bits IDK I've been waiting watching vids before I attempt porting my motors
He referenced a program to get everything to work together, I forget what it's called. Lastly, checkout variable port engines to get an idea what shapes effect your powerband :) @@jeremyhopkins6965
these cylinders don't have a coating they are cast iron
I made the piston hole bigger because someone told me that would make great boost, but now it’s not starting? Maybe I need to add more oil in the gas or use 4 stroke oil right in the exhaust intake because I have heard that fixes it, any tips?
Then u must get in the biger bat if u do onli hole biger u do nothing
If you made the hole that the piston goes up and down in bigger,,, then you NEED a bigger piston to match your hole size or else you aren't going to have very much compression and your motor requires compression to work !!!
I hand sanded some of the cylinder because my dremel slided when I was porting and caused some small scratches / pits in the cylinder. Some are saying that the interior of the cylinder has a special coating and that sanding the cylinder would ruin it. I used 150 and 300 grit sand paper. Do you think its ruined? edit: looks like the cylinder is 100% iron so theres no coating and therefore no damage via sanding, however I still got some small pits / scratches from my dremel sliding off and hitting the cylinder wall. Think it will cause any issues?
Most have a chrome bore. That chrome is getting thinner and thinner over the years. If you sand, only remove burrs. Ride on
@@HughesMotorized I found out it's an iron bore so no plating
*Very helpful. I sure the hell dont want to go 60mph on a Bicycle, But I do want as much safe & free/cheap power & performance as I can get, or else I would just buy a cycle for $1300*
Speed is a matter of gearing. If you take a 60mph bike and but a 44 tooth sprocket on it, you're gonna have a hill climbing beast.

That little all in one grinder is awesome. Never seen one of those!
Just search drenmel on amazon and it should be one of the first one the list
They are called die grinders or rotary tool..been around for decades brother
Thank you Eugene! Your videos are awesome. Well done! Agree, don't need to go fast on these motors. I live in a hilly neighborhood, and think cleaning the junk out will help as described. But, do you think I am better off not to take 1mm off on In/Out ports, so I don't lose the bottom end torque? I also don't get a smooth power flow, and the motor is past breaking-in period. I did follow your "needle set" video for the carb, and it seem to help somewhat. Much appreciate your feedback.
Widen Intake & Exhaust and cleanout would help overall and maintain low end. Also a Hi Comp head
@@HughesMotorized I've seen people bevel the piston where the transfer ports meet with it, what does that do exactly cause I haven't been able to find out what that does
i loved my little harbor freight bench grinder. too bad they don't sell a replacement shaft for it. i was using a cutting disk and it locked up and twisted the flexible shaft to the point that it kinked up and broke. rip
go to autozone and buy the universal speedometer cable repar kit. It was under 10 bucks last time I bought one. It's just the inner cable that goes inside the plastic sheath to repair a broken speedometer cable. Just so happens to have other applications. cut to fit, and install in your flexi shaft. bam, good as new.
I have a 4 stroke engine kit I lost the 5 8 bushing straight shaft where could I buy one n the bolt
Gasbike should have the bronze bushing. Any good hardware store should have the bolt. I dont remember the size though
@@HughesMotorized that's where I found the 58 bushing but their sold out
Where did you buy the grinder and dremmel

For my weight and height with tool bag I need atleast a 100cc to get around because of the vertical requirements of where I live
I am wondering why you didn't show yourself using daikum to work inside the cylinder you are 1 mm? You know hopefully what I'm referring to measuring the cylinder where you want to Port it out to
I loved your comment about (if you don’t have anything positive to say then just don’t comment at all) I like how you put it, so gentlemenly a big 👍thumbs up. People can say the MOST STUPID THINGS
Will a 80cc motor run if the cylinder scratched a little bit?
can you feel any scratches with a fingernail?
Thank You Hughes. You know your stuff.
And how to do this shit with trash motors.
8-) That's what those kits really are.
and fun...when they work right
@@HughesMotorized i have a "new" build that i just can't get running. Today, i checked the carburetor. No gas seems to be getting to the bowl. At first fuel-up gunk came out of the tank. So clogged up bowl? Doesn't swem to be the cause. NO FUEL. What's my next move. And when i use starter fluidit DOES fire. Puzzled. Help.😐
@@childofanovelty pull fuel line from carb and see if any gas comes out when petcock is open. If no gas, i bet the screen in petcock is clogged up. If yes the I bet float valve is stuck in carb. If so, give carb bowl some good hard taps w/ a screwdriver handle. Should open it up. If not, then pull carb bowl and see what's keeping float stuck.
ruclips.net/channel/UCPRPIP5uWB5cR8LgQq4qTDA
What happens if you lower the exhaust port instead of raising it?
You'll change thetiming and possibly lose performance
Will this make my 20mph 80cc 2stroke bicycle go 40mph ?
What about a fixed head is it more difficult?
it’s harder for sure
do you have to trim the gaskets?
Yes where they stick past the ports. Depending on the particular type of gasket, you can use an exacto knife, or use the Dremel with a carbide bit if it's metal. I like to cut them in place to get them exact.
I wish I had watched this before dogging out my new build.
15:03 idk i wouldnt call that small personally, i think thats a decent size, the perfect size in my opinion, maybe even too big and it can definitely get all the way in there, further still
Just took mine apart today still in break in period the piston rings and cylinder where broken:( should have done this before ever starting it
Stay safe and ride safe scoot scoot around 🥰😘💋💯🤗
Always!
I feel like he's fixed alot of expert fuck ups

So I did this and now at full throttle it almost dies and has no power? What could be the issue
Sounds like an intake leak or gasket
@@HughesMotorized I will give it a try I have another cylinder orderd already ported incase I broke it but if not atleast I have a spare.
70 miles an hour in reverse 😂😂😂😂 you got me rolling
When did a basic clean up become PORTING on these engines
ENLARGING ports isn't considered porting ? OK. Don't CAPS me bro.
@@HughesMotorized CAPS upset you bro
Cylinder Holden I really don't see how buffering the exhaust part to a mirror finish is going to give you any benefit
Does it matter if I have 50 miles on my motor and then port it
No prob. Port away
I've heard you should break a motor in before porting
if you're poor or don't want to accidently nick the cylinder walls a file would work too, right?
wouldnt the heat from normal running....shave off those burrs on the insides?
No. There are some substantial boogers in there that need to be opened up which will improve performance
It seems to me that it would be better to use the little abrasive wheel it would be safer to take away the burrs then you can go ahead and polish your all your ports. IT WOULD BE MUCH SAFER
I wonder how successful you would be if you remove the flashing with files and then port and polish with the rotary tool
Very successful. It's the artist, not the tool. A good eye and a steady hand & sharp tool will do it.
@@HughesMotorized well said
Yup the intake an exaust ports definitely are not nice an smooth like a factory engine Honda Yamaha an such lol I'm on my second build the first one was a learning curve cause can fix dirt bike an sleds no problem however these motors have many little- flaws with lol great for kids to learn about engines though an tinker with second motor I bought I just bought the engine with no hardware its all cheap junk lol I'm gonna order the drive chain an stuff from the place i order dirt bike parts that's what I ended doing with my first engine build the parts are much more durable especially the drive chain I can break the chain with pliers that come with these kits lol can't do that with a real dirt bike chain though I paid more the chain and parts but least they last alot longer they can keep their cheap hardware lol choke socks too vibrates down a chokes the engine I put a carb with a pull out choke my buddy races after we ported his srx 700 snowmobile he took a center punch an put a bunch of punch marks on the intake side for fuel dispersion we shaved the head also I wonder if there's any room to shave the head on these down a thousand of an in h
Nice job man and that helps me do mine naw
Glad I helped you
@Whoop!
And that was 66cc a 48 barely would get me up a hill my 66cc could climb the side of a mountain but I didn't go fast that for sure those steel stingrays are heavy for those engines
13:17 "thats what She Said "
Good info although somewhat mislabeled. Porting mostly refers to widening and/or raising the ports right at the cylinder surface, not cleaning out casting irregularities.
Note I did widen intake and exhaust along with lowering intake and raise exhaust ports
@@HughesMotorized I´m sorry I didnt watch more than the beginning where you said it was basic porting and then described it as cleaning up the passageways.
@@HughesMotorized also I would never give any generalized porting advice except for one type of cylinder after I have measured the durations and ran them along with port widths thru a porting calculator. If you say "always lower intake" and someone has a cylinder that already has the correct intake duration then you´ll cause him to mess it up and then he´ll have an engine harder to start.
Aqua Teen Hunger force #1 in the hood G!
Preach !
So porting is basically deburr sharp edges
BASIC porting is that plus opening up the ports to allow more flow. You raise the exhaust 1mm and lower the intake 1mm. Widen both 2mm. More technical is to set specific port timing and duration
I have found you are better off just widening the ports slightly and you keep the bottom end speed and keep and gain top speed to my bike is stock with just the ports done and I get 48 mph lol
80cc engine?
So small 950 watt harbor freight generators head gasket and head fits motorized kits with little modification just drill the holes a little bit bigger to fit the studs I think the piston and piston bearing fit too the head takes a bigger spark plug just wanted to let everybody know just in case you have one mine didn't work I cannibalized it

So LOUD!
Not trynna get the cops called these hobby bikes aren't street legal as it is lmao, unless you're as ballsy as Arnold's Cigars that go for it haha

Thanks, lower the inlet and raise the exhaust. My is constantly yammering about "port timing" I guess this is it?
That is correct
