I did a similar mod at my foot end but I soldered a hole through a stuffsack for the cord to pass through, knotted each side of the hole and used roofing sealant to really lock it down, another stuffsack at head end (but I kept the tape at that end) and my sleeping pod, hammock and tarp of the day all stuff in nicely and are well protected from any water. The sack also acts as a cinch for the footbox preventing draughts and the head end one is a handy store for phone, keys etc
I've heard that the reason why experienced hammockers like using something other than paracord as their continuous loops on their suspension, is that the cord stretches to a noticeable degree the first few times you use it. Which apparently means they get annoyed at having to adjust the rigging more often than they'd like. Have you noticed any stretching issues with this mod? Also, great video and tutorial.
I didn't notice any stretching. That might be what the doubling up on the cord buys me, as opposed to an increased load. Also the length of cord is short enough that there isn't a lot of room for it to stretch.
I recommend Whoopie Slings 👍
The knot you used to create the loop of paracord is commonly known as a Fisherman’s Bend 👍🏻
Great clear explanation! Thanks mister!
