I'd never heard of this game but immediately clocked the Atlus musical sound, with its echoing arpeggios and discordant jazz fusion chords. TIL Hirohiko Takayama (composer of Xexyz, Karate Kid, Friday the 13th, and the phenomenal King of Kings) jumped ship to a startup named EIM around 1989 and brought Atlus' sound driver with him.

I always figured these games came out at the same time, but I would have never guessed that they all came out on the same DAY.
As for this one, I think Parallel World is cute.

There's been other parallel (heh) development like all the games where you control two characters at the same time coming out at the same time, but this might be the weirdest of them.

This seems like a cute little puzzle game, at least in video form. And if it *was* Parallel Worlds it would be a lot harder.

The soundtrack has the distinctive Hirohiko Takayama sound to it, not sure if that's accurate but a couple of the tracks sound like they came straight out of Xexyz or something like that.

Ha, oops I wrote an almost identical comment before i'd refreshed the page. It's him alright, I actually never knew he left Atlus at one point. It sounds *exactly* like Xexyz which I was lucky enough to rent around the time it was new, and has forever been my inflection point for Atlus soundtracks.

I can't read 'Parallel World' without thinking about the PC-8801 game with the same name, with an awesome cover featuring Jesus Christ himself, slashing an orc with a sword. Published by Enix, I must add. 😅

The poor framerate and simple graphics make the game feel a bit like one of those Nice Code bootleg Famiclone games instead of an actual licensed release.

seems a lot more fun than peepar time, at the very least. some similar mechanics even! also I *guess* the pictogram passwords make typos non-existent?
