I recently got a pair of kittens and decided to try this stuff at my girlfriend's urging. Been kind of a mixed bag, no pun intended. I think from the get I was a little disappointed by the odor control, as my girlfriend said there's never any odor but I could always smell something every time I walked in the room where the pan is. I didn't think it was dusty when I poured it into the pan. In fact, I didn't really notice any dustiness until I realized my litter scooper's handle felt weird, and then noticed a layer of white dust on every surface in the laundry room. I then realized with different lighting that when I mixed the litter around giant clouds of dust were billowing from the pans. I have recently noticed that the dust is even migrating from the laundry room and starting to settle on surfaces in the kitchen. I used tidy cats for years and only noticed dust when pouring a bunch into the pan. I am very confused about how pretty litter can claim to be nearly dust free when I have never experienced a litter that is this dusty. Very disappointed about that. Also, even though I have two litter pans for the two kittens, I had to change one pan completely after just 2 weeks as it was completely saturated, even though it was at the 2-in recommended depth. I have also noticed a similar color fluctuation as you did. That pan that was saturated was nearly all blue toward the end, but I'm not in a position where I can waste money on an unnecessary vet trip. I had a cat for years that had incessant urinary issues where I had to feed him a special food and neither of the kittens are displaying any of the behaviors that he did. I'm still on the fence about this stuff because I do like being able to just throw away a small bag of poop versus a 15 lb bag of pee clumps, especially as it's a bit of a hike to my dumpster. I think if they could tamp down the dust, improve the odor control and color accuracy, I would feel a lot better about it.
We monitored our cat and the day he stopped eating and drinking within 12 hrs he was very sick. Took him to the vet. He had a urinary blockage that started as an infection or UTI and had no outward sign. The vet bill was almost $3000 with no guarantees. He could get another at any time and be another $3000. I dont use pretty litter but am considering it which is why i watched. When you say it doesn’t take place of the vet but it would have let us know he had an infection before his urethra swelled shut and blocked his ability to urinate. That way he could have been treated for $200 not an ongoing $3000 per incident expense. Thank you for the reviee but anyone looking needs to know that the other option for a cat prone to UTIs could be over $10,000 a year so expensive is relative. I dont think that can be stressed enough.
I have 3 female feline friends. I purchased three litter pellet 40 pound bags/ $6 each at a local feed store in January, just now used the last bit this week. Does not control odor well, esp if they don’t cover cover their #2 well. But it is the cheapest, just have to stay on it and clean litter boxes well. For any litter that is
Yup, I noticed a smell to the littler boxes around 20 days in, I ended up getting a 3rd bag, added it to the existing litter and that did the trick. I noticed the green blue change in a couple spots, not heavily concentrated like yours. I do mix it twice a day. And the one box has no change. I noticed more litter, less smell, and less radical change in color. Get a extra bag to make it last for the month.
I noticed youre using a garbage bag to pour the litter on in the box... that's genius!! And thank you for talking about the pee thing. I want a litter that gets solid when it touches liquid. I kinda find it gross having to "'mix it around" lolol def not getting pretty litter but this review was great!
Pretty litter is the best litter I’ve ever had. Doesn’t smell. Lasts actually a month with one cat. You stir the littler once a day, big woop. You only take the poop out. It’s worth trying! I will never go back to smelly yucky clay or low grade crystal
@@zapro3944 I tried pretty litter and it ok but Im using Sustainably Yours and I love it.ive always watched Jackson Galaxy and this is the only one he's ever recommended. We have 5 cats and they love it
I don’t use it exactly as recommended. I don’t put any more than 2 inches and when it starts to get soggy blue/green at the bottom I do try to scoop that piss out and refresh with a little extra litter like she says. The key is mixing the soiled litter with the clean litter to help it evaporate more. As for when my kitty has diarrhea I spray the tiny clumps with a little organic enzyme cleaner (Biozyme) to clump up the litter around the poo and then it can be scooped out.
I use the pine pellets and it lasts about a month or more and I pay $6 for a 40 pound bag and the bag lasts at least 6 months or longer if you only have one cat
I appreciate your feedback. Very helpful. I may try it but I agree with some other comments. I like being able to get rid of my cat's entire poop and pee with clumping of regular clay litter.
I've heard clay litter isn't good for kittens and was curious about this one. I have a 6yr old and a 13 week old. I've been trying feline pine per recommendation and I hate it. It doesn't absorb AT ALL and smells like a barn all the time from all the pee.. also the cleanup takes me at least 3x as long to get all the saw dust out.. seems like I can't win lol
Generally you want one litter box per cat plus one - more litter boxes = less odor. I haven’t seen my pretty litter get anywhere near that gross yet and I got 3 months out of my last bag. You should test with different litter trays. The depth matters with litter. My top entry box allows the litter to be nice and deep. I only noticed a smell *while mixing* it after around 1 1/5 months but never from just standing near it.
I’ve been using the litter for a while and I’ve never seen it change randomly or act any way like that. I have green/blue once… you should’ve gotten your cat checked
honestly my Junior. I haven't seen him go to the bathroom in almost five years. I lost him he was kidnapped. he was really private about bathroom.stuff. my ferals. they dug to China everytime they went potty. they had strong instinct to be invisible. and they were .those.cats. they were. and are so smart.
The pH of your cats urine may indicate health concerns, but like so can 100 other factors....... it's kinda just a marketing scheme, I work with vets who say they wouldn't trust it, and the fact that there are chemicals invlved to cause this reaction makes me hesitant to allow my cat tto use and inevitably consume.
With my two cats I go through at least two (sometimes three) of those big 40lb pails of litter every month so I wont even give Pretty Litter a try because the package is too small, they expect that little bag to last a month? Not with my cats... P.S. you really need a proper microphone for recording. Even a USB microphone like a blue yeti for $130 would sound 10x better than whatever you're using right now.
Hi Yareli, Pretty Litter can handle diarrhea about as well as any other type of stool, though you may have to empty the box sooner than expected if you're unable to remove all of the waste during a scooping session. Thanks for stopping by!
Spray it with a little bit of enzyme cleaner (make sure it’s organic so you aren’t mixing chemicals in the catbox) and it will make a clump you can scoop out. It’s a little time consuming but saves you from having to toss it all. I use Biozyme and it works well
Does not last ling, so fine it was easy to wast, oder control wasn't close to what its advertised to be. This verse clumping litter, clumping its easy to get rid of the wast, with pretty litter you just jad to dump the whole litter box, expensive for how long it lasted. Me 4 days with 2 cats, hard to read color since all these little miniscule microscopic ( it seems) litter balls were mixed together. Again oder control not that well dor tye price you pay, wast as cats toss out of box,. I went back to oder free, dust free clumping cat lotter
@@DesserTray5 Yeah everything is more expensive for us in Hawaii. I'll definitely check it out. My boy keeps tracking litter all over my apartment so I'm looking to change up the litter in hoping of reducing the tracking problem.
Idk if it's just not for my cat, whose hobby is peeing, but it smells like baby diapers which feels way worse than regular litter, my "1 month" was like 1-2 weeks for only one cat😭🥲

Having a garbage liner doesn't really work unless your cats are declawed.

Does it work with the litter robot?
Add baking soda?

You don't factor in shipping to your cost analysis.
Are there other brands of silicon based litter?
I use crystal litter for my cats. Maybe that would be worth looking into?

If I see one more Pretty Litter commercial I'm gonna throw up 😡
They’re selling this at Target for $22
Really??
It's $25/8 ib at my local Target (Tucson)
Our Target (Hawaii) has it for $30 😑
