I use Pretty Litter for 2 adult cats and I love it. There is *some* dust and is pricier than standard litter. I’m on disability and as expensive as it is, it lasts longer than standard litters. That alone saves me money. And it really does last me about a month. Sometimes longer (if I keep on top of scooping). But please be aware that if you have more than one cat you should be using several litter boxes.
Thanks for your honest review, especially with your scientific background. I’m sticking with Worlds Best Cat Litter, it is heavy and expensive, but after being a cat parent for over 40 years, it is the best I have had to deal with.
Gentle reminder to read the informational card, 1 bag, for one cat, for one month, dump the bag in the box, and ensure atleast 2 inches of depth, that's to help ensure the urine isn't pooling at the bottom of the litter box
I never expected it to last one month for three cats. That’s why I mentioned an estimate on how long it should have lasted. However it didn’t. And I did put in two inches, if not more. Even if the urine pools on the bottom, the litter gets mixed twice a day and the crystals should have absorbed. I’m glad it works for you, but I think other crystals perform better and actually last as long as it says it would.
@@SvenandRobbie In the video you mentioned 5 cats. Was it 3 or 5 cats? I would put an entire bag in a box and not mess with 2 inches. That may lead to the bottom of the pan getting very wet with urine and having that strange clumping you saw. I do think that one month per bag is wishful thinking even for one cat. Probably 20 days or so. It is fine for younger cats and kittens but a large cat that drinks a lot and eats a bunch will overwhelm it. I think that they will need to go up to about 12lbs bag to get that and keep the price nearly the same. I will probably mix this with Dr. Elsey's Crystal Cat Litter so that I can get litter that is less tracking but also get the medical color changes pretty litter has. I haven't found a perfect litter yet. Thanks for your video. Very informative.
I’m surprised you found it dust free. I tried it and there was dust everywhere after my cats using their box. One of my cats also had some respiratory problems with the dust. I also found the urine odor overwhelming and the freshness did not last long at all. I use and am loving the pine pellets. Thanks for your reviews. Love your videos!
I have used bargain brand clay litter for years, 4 cats, 3 boxes, but health issues related to aging (I am 70) led me to seek solutions to both litter and standard boxes. It was either that or re-home my cats, which I just was not ready or willing to do. So despite the fact that I am low-income, after lots of research, I decided to try an automated litter box. I settled on the Litter Robot 4 and while getting my cats used to it took a month, for me it was worth the cost. Part of that first month of using the robot was cat litter issues, as I continued to use my usual bargain basement brand litter, and it just did NOT work out with the robot. I found your channel while researching alternative choices for litters and ended up trying Arm & Hammer's "Hardball" litter, based on your reviews. It is working extremely well, but boy oh boy do I go thru litter (or, my cats do). Hardball litter is not cheap, compared to bargain basement brands, so my litter costs have also gone up a LOT. But it's worth it to me. I have tried other crystal litters in the past and they have worked fairly well for me in standard boxes, but my cats hated it. The crystals became embedded between their toe pads and they always rushed for a scratch post or pad immediately after using the litter box. In the process, they tracked (dirty, used) litter all over the place. So yeah, I'm not a fan of crystal litters and neither are my cats.
Thank you so very much for this review. I have 7 adult cats and the cost is crazy!!! I am so happy to see this before I went out to try it. Thanks again, so very helpful.
this is my choice of litter, j find it strange when others don’t like it? I stir it pretty frequently and have never noticed any kind of smell unless it’s around the time to finally change it out at the end of the month. the tracking can be an issue but as far as smell it’s the best i’ve used
I have noticed that the smaller the silica crystals, the more sludgy it gets after a lot of urine >< A lot of reviews also seemed to say that even with only one kitty, the color changing stuff stopped working after like a week or two and gave weird false positives. Thanks for the review!! (also I need one of those scratcher boxes...)
I’m just curious to know which “kitty scratcher box” u said u wanted to get (& why), bc I love my furbabies & want the best 4 them like I can tell u do too!❤😊…Edit: I’m just realizing u prob meant an actual cardboard scratcher pad for their nails.😅
Use scoop away. As a cat rescuer...its inexpensive, plus if you clean the box every other day... you will not have the smell of a lion. I have 16 in my home, and 7 boxes They do not go outside.. and my house does not smell like cat. When people come over for the first time, I watch their faces.. then they see A cat...Oh you have I cat..cool.. then we tell them how many we have.. the look on their faces are priceless..absolute shock.. then they tell me they couldn't even tell I had 1
The price of this brand is a dealbreaker for me. However, I have found other crystal litter only work well when I have like 3-4 inches of litter in my box. Other, liquid pools on the bottom and it the smell is completely overwhelming. I have a much larger box than yours, and I can keep crystal litter going for a month with 2 cats as long as I put enough in. If I don’t, it lasts maybe 10 days. My biggest problems are that I can’t breathe without using a mask while cleaning litter because the dust is so drying and it gets heavy from all the liquid, which makes it rip straight through garbage bags and it’s too heavy for me to carry to the dumpster without hurting my back. And my biggest reason for looking at litter alternatives is the weight of clay litter
I m just now ,today, trying Pretty Litter and like you,I wanted to check the color scale and how accurate it is.Ive only tested my tap water, filtered water and her urine. The tap water and filtered water were in the idea range and her urine is just a little yellow or acidic,so,no worries there. Though I have one huge concern, that is the silica absorbs the urine and I don't want my cat stepping in urine and tracking it every where every-time she uses the litter box. That said,I don't think Ill be buying it again.
Great review. Thank you for sharing. I am currently trying it out with 2 cats. One uses the Casa Leo litter, and the other one is a regular box litter, and so far, I can already tell it's not working swell with the Casa Leo. Yes, it is expensive for the amount you get. I am considering going back to my regular litter, which works better, Boxie Pro.

Hey so i bought this litter and it went from yellow to green .. i find that this litter looks soaked all the time and right now its giving off a strong chemical smell that burns my nose .. almost smells like im smelling Varsol paint thinner . Not sure what to think of it
Thanks for the variety of litters you have reviewed! How do you like trying out grass litter next time? It's dustless and clumps well (but may stick to the side/bottom of some litter boxes). The main issue is tracking. I've tried Smartcat, Frisco (on Chewy) and ExquisiCat Naturals (on Petsmart) unscented ones and they're all similar. I'm currently mixing grass litter with Sustainably Yours and it works perfectly (except for the tracking of course but I have carpet through my house so that's bearable). SY helps with the sticking to the side issue and controls the odor even better.
I keep seeing advertisements of this litter so I gave it a try. I also only have just one cat and the urine smell after two days was already strong enough for me to hate this litter. And the tracking is unstoppable. It’s everywhere and I have a carpet and three other litter mats trying to control the mess and the tracking it’s making, but it’s still going everywhere. it works really well with hard solids but for the price you’re paying it’s not worth
For non clumping and natural, I am a pine pellet stan. I have been using it for 6 years. For crystals, I like PetSafe the best, I've only really used that and Pretty Litter. For clumping, my all time favorite is Sustainably Yours, but I also like Arm and Hammer Hardball. However, Harball is scented and tracks really bad. BUT clumps are so firm it's ridiculous; works well for hand scooping not for autoboxes. I haven't found a litter that doesn't track far besides pellets. It inevitable I think.
@@SvenandRobbie your channel is my favorite place to seek out reviews! If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have gotten into pine pellets at all. If dust is a problem for you, give some of the grass/wheat-based products a try (e.g., Smart Cat litter, or equivalent). They're *actually* 99% dust-free, unlike this one, which generates plumes of dust every time you stir it. Grass/wheat also clumps well. (Tracking is still a problem, though.)
I didn't base it off of 8 cats because 5 of them only used it partially in the day time, and 4 of the 5 were kittens, so pee volume was much lower than an adult cat. I based my estimations off of 5 adult cats and calculated for 1 cat it would have only lasted 20 days, which is not as advertised on the bag. The bag says 2 months supply.

The Original Pretty Litter is a disaster. I bought the (3) month bag promo with scoop and litter box.75.00+for (3) months The Box is rather small to start, my 5 .lb Sphynx flip the box 2nd time in it. Litter everywhere .The urine smell was overwhelming. It just puddled in the bottom of the box. The poop gets hard as a rock (liked that feature) Called Pretty Liter explained my dissatisfaction. They explained to me the original litter was meant to let the urine evaporate. ????? YUCK!!! They Suggested I try the CLUMPING litter that solidifies BOTH urine and poop. They sent me a Complimentary bag of the clumping litter.(received in 4 days) I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT Urine gets hard as rock salt. NO smell at all, And I only use UNSENTED litter. I couldn't imagine why anyone would want to use the original Pretty Litter.
Yikes! It just soaks up the urine and you can't scoop it out? And it doesn't last very long, and it's expensive? I think the health-monitoring stuff is a gimmick. I won't waste my time buying Pretty Litter. Thanks for the heads-up!
I used this litter for almost 6 months and had it in my car about twice. It stinks! Also, when my cat had a bad UTI, I only saw the color change ONCE. It is also insane for the price and gets absolutely disgusting.
we’re you stirring it around daily ? this is my litter of choice and it never stunk unless it was time to change it after like a couple weeks ? you just gotta stir it so that everything is absorbed n not gross
I hate Pretty litter, I bought three 8lbs bags, dumped out the litter box cleaned it up, put one 8lb bag into the clean litter box, and to my surprise my 5year old cat, who has never had a mistake in the house, will not urinate in the house, till I used Pretty litter, now she will not urinate in the box but different areas of the apartment, when she poops she does not dig a hole before or after using it! Now I am stuck with two 8lbs bags of Petty litter, I will not and can not use, CAN WE SAY REFUND!!!
LAY DOWN ABOUT AN INCH LAYER ON TOP OF YOUR EXISTING LITTER. ONCE YOU GET ANY RESULTS, START USING ONCE A MONTH, THEN EVERY THREE MONTHS. STOP WASTING MONEY!
Beware of this company. I contacted them for "a free trial bag" following a referral and the screen went directly to an order page, ignoring the "free trial" (on a Saturday) and I placed an order anyway. I waited until Monday (two days later) for advice regarding "the free trial offer." I could not access my new account. I thought by phoning "customer service" the matter could be resolved. It was not. After much wasted time, I phoned them again, this time to cancel my order and request a refund. The order still hadn't been shipped from their warehouse and yet this company refused to cancel my order. I must receive it, then request a shipping label to return it. I feel that I've been scammed.

@@harbs16the litter still isn’t good. I’ve done research on it and you can find much better litters than this BS
It's great. But the crystals get spread all over the floors by the cat. We even have a litter mat. You've got to sweep it up all the time or the place feels dirty.
Thanks for the honest review. Seems like this product is not for me either. Thanks. gave this video a like.
How you manage to have so many spare time to do all this research?
after seeing your video, Im realizing my cats don't shit as large as others. Didn't expect the squat but I get it...just didn't see it coming.
They sent me a Complimentary bag of the clumping litter.(received in 4 days)
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT Urine gets hard as rock salt. NO smell at all, And I only use UNSENTED litter. I couldn't imagine why anyone would want to use the original Pretty Litter.
I become nose blind to the amonia smell . Anywho I bought a knock off just to try it cause it’s to pricey
Research breathing in silica dust And add to this review if you want to get a message out to protect cats
8 cats that’s too many, I have one cat. It is pretty good litter no pun intended.
Ty for this video!
Yikes! It just soaks up the urine and you can't scoop it out? And it doesn't last very long, and it's expensive? I think the health-monitoring stuff is a gimmick. I won't waste my time buying Pretty Litter. Thanks for the heads-up!
Lol, I was wondering who Sven was. He's a cat. Does that make you Robbie, or is Robbie also a cat? 🤔
To be fair about the smell, it was being used by 5 cats for the love of God. I'd just throw in some cat litter specific baking soda.
7:36 i dont even wanna know what that smell was like 🥴🥴🥴🥴
Litter get everywhere, take the cat on a walk or use pine litter
I used this litter for almost 6 months and had it in my car about twice. It stinks! Also, when my cat had a bad UTI, I only saw the color change ONCE. It is also insane for the price and gets absolutely disgusting.
we’re you stirring it around daily ? this is my litter of choice and it never stunk unless it was time to change it after like a couple weeks ? you just gotta stir it so that everything is absorbed n not gross
@@babydollblue I have regular litter, I clean it every and it's better than that Pretty Litter stuff and cheaper.
Now I am stuck with two 8lbs bags of Petty litter, I will not and can not use, CAN WE SAY REFUND!!!
thank you.
I will just. Stick. With fresh steps. For. My. Kitty these. Litter seem suspicious.😮 June 25!!2023. Sunday
Soon as I saw the tracking.... HELLL NOO... LOL.
It doesnt control urine odor. You are just nose blind to it
Omg I was not ready to see that cat poop. I’ve never seen my cat poop.
Thanks. This helped me make my decision, 👎🏽.
You are supposed to use 1 WHOLE bag per cat your review is not valid as you did not use correctly even for 1 cat let alone the 5 you had
maybe don’t buy shit from target. y’all hop on a bandwagon with everyone else and just strictly shop at target an wonder why y’all broke.
You know what’s better to not own cats and you won’t complain about your house smelling like cat piss.
Just because you own cats doesn’t mean your house has to smell like cat piss. 😒
@@SvenandRobbie well I can’t stand cats but they live in my house because my wife took in the stray cat kittens and they are terrible. They destroyed my house with their Oder and the scratches on my wall in my house. Dogs are better which I also have.
@@houseofpets1572you guys are neglectful in your training then. Cats are easy to train in not scratching and if they are marking or peeing in areas they shouldn't, there's either health issues, territorial issues etc.
This is a poor review
How?
