This is THE Director to watch in the coming years! She's absolutely FEARLESS, and is batting a thousand, so far, with the films she's made. Films covering subjects that even the most seasoned horror/thriller filmmakers wouldn't even consider touching. And making it look easy lol since Robert Eggers broke out, Jennifer Kent is clearly the next force to be reckoned with in the industry, without question. If her name appears anywhere associated with a new release, I am THERE. She has definitely earned that, from me, anyway. 👍🙉
@@jennifersimkins433 most women can fight off one man?? This is a ridiculous comment. Men are naturally stronger and more aggressive than a woman could ever dream of being. And I'm not being some "women downer",its just the truth. Even women who bodybuild would have trouble fending off an average strong regular guy. I'm 6'6 240 pounds...I doubt any women could fend me off in horrible situation such as that.
@@bencera6067 Keep one thing in mind: most actors who play nasty characters, especially rapists, onscreen are really kind and personable people in real life because if they weren't nobody would be willing to work with them during really vulnerable scenes.
A difficult but truthful film. Best of the year. I understand that some people cannot accept the brutality depicted, but I personally think it is essential that we DO depict it so that such violence is condemned and will not be repeated. Do not believe it when people say this is an exploitive film... it is horrific, yes, but also deeply ethical and moral.
who ever called this film exploitive? tbh I felt like this wasn't all too brutal... sure, a bit more than your average saturday afternoon thriller but really nothing to write home about. I suppose they hit the perfect mark, so brutal it'll have an impact and stay with you, so tame you don't lose half your audience to the gorefest. great movie overall, best I've seen in quite a while
I'm so glad a group of people had enough courage to tell this story to put the characters through historical truths. It has so many levels of emotional reality. It was brutal to watch, but it was also beautiful too. I was soaked in tears by the end. I would recommend this movie for everyone to watch.
The movie was flawless from beginning to end this is what Hollywood lacks... Movies like this should be in theaters not the crap they show 💩😘💙 BEAUTIFUL
Warning my comments may give away what's in the movie...Just finished watching this netflix movie here in Australia, we were shocked not only by the rape scenes, but also the baby scene, the disgusting way they treated the aboriginals, the way the young boy died. The acting was superb, the directing was amazing . A Fantastic movie
This movie, especially for todays drama, is phenomenal! Jennifer Kent is incredible and holds a very authentic voice in Cinema. This is the type of social justice & "feminism" we need in the film industry.
Man those guys scare me just watching them talking in real life. That’s a sign of incredible acting, in fact ALL of the actors in this movie were fantastic! Also I fixed an electric gate right next to the hut where her friends were!
I can't believe the rape scene is what people object to and not the infanticide. I found that scene far too graphic and grossly indulgent. The worst thing I've seen in a film.
I'll be seeing this film very soon. It looks to be a very tough film but it has to be made. Colonialism and abuse plague both indigenous communities and women.
😭 ... I resonated with the feeling that good people and trust don’t always come easy to all of us.... or evil people can take away our trust. Our feeling of safety. Our soul. When bad things happen, the people who used to feel comfortable around us don’t anymore. It can be lonely. Her revenge ended up taking the last person she built trust with. I watched it two days in a row...
Omg I was thinking this about Sam. He literally plays the devil 👿 does it so well he's so believable. He made me hate him beyond belief. All the cast deserve an award they where all amazing
@@sitinuraliafatihah3312 hello its in this movie he's talking about. In the movie 'the nightingale' he plays Hawkins who is the general of his soldiers. He is an evil character in the movie. It feels like he plays the devil. ☺
Bet you Scott Morrison will ban this film thinking it's left-leaning propaganda? At least NZ has their stuff right with Taika Waititi among others making films, whilst lighthearted, about the plight of the indigenous.

Perhaps someday we Americans will make a film even half this honest and clear about our brutal history of genocide. A brilliant and powerful film!
What a bunch of bullshit rape she can't even fight one man off most women can fight off one man
@@jennifersimkins433 LOL I found here too, you are so unique
@Gary don't forget the sins of war with Michael J.Fox and Sean Penn
This is not a good film its about honesty the director clearly is not telling you the whole deal not only women are raped

The nightingale shook me to my core. Films like this are important.
They're good male actors who played the"devils," because I hate them even in this interview knowing that they're only actors.
It's like, I've hated Matt Damon ever since The Departed because he's so good at being a douchebag. And these guys' characters are so much worse.
I know, it’s so funny the better they do their job the deeper we hate them in the moment! Good actors really help you experience

If Kentaro Miura's masterpiece Berserk is ever made live action this is the director that should make it.

I be loved Jennifer Kent’s response to the outrage, really brilliant
Love Babadook and Nightingale, cant wait for her next movie

Reminds me of Amon Goth & Capitan Vidal in one
Aisling Franciosi is Lyanna Stark
Ce film est un chef-d'oeuvre !

Well he didn't. Run a long.
The girl who played Claire is so God Damn HOT
Her name is Aisling Franciosi
Amazing film. Has stuck with me.
This will become the norm in ten years time, whilst I liked the film I really don't appreciate being moralised to think a certain way.
. . . what, to think that colonialism is bad? The horror!
Really?? You missed the whole point of the film 🙄 What is wrong with condemning sexual violence, war, racism, and colonialism?
Another great Australian documentation to add to our list
فلم رائع جدا
واعجبني Very cool movie I liked
Here's my review for "The Nightingale"! What did you think of this film? ruclips.net/video/T0RG9t_rFIs/видео.html
The cameraman seems to have had a really bad hangover
Sam Claflim e um ator maravilhoso tudo que faz e muito bom
I liked it
oh dear... "him" and "not to be condescending" :/ No one talks about the racism?
