    I have an identical unit which I use on my 2006 Lexus GS300. Very basic but very useful. The "erase" button does all sorts of good things, even when no code faults are shown

    your engine light is ON when starting the car. Is that normal? I'm struggling with my car. It randomly refuses to start the engine once a week or so.. cranks but doesn't start. I've seen videos pointing to MAF sensor or Relays or even Injectors. Injectors are good, Relays have been replaced. Haven't check the MAF but i mean... no codes coming up on the OBD diagnostic. What the hell could it be? Dirty MAF? :\ seems odd

      Hi Hbr thanks for the comment and support. As long as the engine light goes out when the car runs all is good 👍. You could try cleaning the maf but you may find that you have an issue with your starter motor, it may have a worn point which causes the intimitant starting issue. Hope that helps 🤞

    Hey I bought the same product and had the same issue that it wouldn’t connect, do you know why that is? Few months ago my mechanic connected his and it work fine

      @@brunolotycz1293 hi Bruno thanks foe the comment. Sometimes the pin connector needs a solid push also the unit should connect when engine is running or with the ignition set to on. In can be a little temperamental. Let me know how you get on 👍

    I bought this, ran for codes (gave me small evap emission system leak code), & spent approx 5 minutes checking out the other features. It drained my battery DEAD. The directions say only turn the ignition on, not the engine, but it kills my battery. Any advice?

    • @Witty924
      @Witty924  2 года назад +3

      Hi Janet, thanks for the comment and support. It sounds like you have a bad battery. The unit can plug in while the ignition of the car is on and when the car is also running. It should not drain you battery as it would not need that amount of power. Let me know how you get on 👍

    • @davidmwood560
      @davidmwood560 Год назад +1

      I can only imagine that your car has either a faulty connection somewhere which goes live when OBD2 is connected, or you got a pretty duff battery. OBD2 units work on a minute amount of DC power, measured in milliamps. What make and model of car do you have?

      @@dammyof5531: you need to identify the nature of the code that's coming up. This could be anything from a dirty Massed Air-Flow Sensor, (remove, spray thoroughly with a DEDICATED. cleaner, then leave to dry out for 30 minutes before reassembling), a dirty throttle-body intake, (clean in the same way as the MAFSensor ~ at the same time), to a pinhole in a rubber vacuum pipe. I'm still drawn to the fuel-cap though. I had the same problem; bought a new fuel cap and still had the problem! My mechanic resolved it by thoroughly cleaning the neck of the fuel filler and fuel-cap seal with thinners, then applying a thin film of engine oil (virtually any oil will do) to both surfaces with a cloth and replacing firmly. Hey, Presto! Problem solved! I've been around cars all my life; I raced at many levels for 60 years! I've gathered a small collection of carefully selected classic cars over 54 years. I've rebuilt them, restored them, painted them, re-upholstered them and shown them. It took one modern fault with a si.ple solution to stump me. I guess it just g o es to show, I'm still learning after all this time.
      If the obvious solutions I've mentioned don't fix the problem, you probably need to have a trusted mechanic look it over. I hope I've helped a bit

      Hi Joesph, you can find these types from as little as 20 pounds on ebay, the more you spend the better the functionality of the obd2 device. Hope that helps 👍

      Not sure this unit is able to check that detail for you Cristian. It will read a code if its compatible with your car and can erase codes but it don't tell you why the problem exists. Might be worth looking at a more intelligent obd2 unit for your car. 👍
