This is one of my favorite Augason Farms soups. I also reduce the water but I add ham cooked separate and stirred in.
I have so many cans of Augason Farms food and never received any damaged as badly as those 2 cans you showed us, Jinne! I bought a can of the cheesy broccoli soup for my best friend and my daughter for Christmas this year. I think they make great gifts, especially during this time of people needing to prep for what's coming. TFS!
I like shopping through 4Patriots because if you have something that's damaged they will replace it

I have bought many cans of Augason farms vegetables through and they've been delivered with no damage or problems. I'm so sorry that you've had problems with damage. Just a suggestion - I buy my dried onions, green and red bell peppers, and soup vegetables from San Francisco Herbs for over 25 years. Much cheaper than the canned items (these come in bags) but since I cook with them all the time, I don't look for a 25 year shelf. If you're looking for food to carry you over the covid winter, you might want to give them a try. Thanks for showcasing the soup!

I doctor up this soup by adding fresh broccoli and some butter. Makes a big difference. You can also toss in extra dehydrated broccoli. I serve it with garlic toast.

I love Augason Farms powdered milk... both the non-fat & the low fat.... both taste great like real milk... I buy the cans every couple of months or so... they also have great freeze-dried strawberries, but they're kind of expensive...
Oh, I also like the 4Patriot foods, they're quite good..

I’ve had damaged products from Amazon and they have replaced the item. I don’t know why they told you that. I would raise hell with them if I was you!

If you receive a new can that is badly damaged, just quickly re-package the contents in a gallon size Mylar bag, add an oxygen absorber and heat-seal. Cut off the can's label and use clear mover's tape to stick the label onto the Mylar bag. You should be able to get close to the original storage length in a cool pantry.

It seems that damage comes from the shippers and not from the seller more often lately. The employees on the last legs have less care and concern and less muscle to adequately move the stuff. If that’s the case, every point that’s touched during the shipping is most likely the same. What happened to company pride?
Yes, it definitely was the shipping, but honestly it was packaged poorly, 6 cans stuffed in a box that was too big with no packaging.. A few of the cans were heavy...
Darn those dented cans. I had a lot of dented cans from Walmarts delivery. Some I kept but the ones that look like they were thrown off a building I got refund. I have a can of the Cheese Broccoli Soup, I'm glad you cooked some so I could see if it's any good. Good video.
I had a bunch of damaged cans from Wal-Mart this month. One I'm afraid to use but the others I'm using this tomorrow for chili. Most of the time Wal-Mart shoppers do really well but a lot was messed up in this past order. They may have been employees that subbed for a regular. It's so much of a hassle to return them but Wal-Mart is good to replace items.
Damaged goods... SO annoying & then to charge double! What a nerve! Anyhow, I must say the soup looked delicious & I always believe that a warm bowl of soup really can brighten your day if yr feeling down or maybe a bit poorly. I think the amount of water depends where you live. Some areas are humid while others are dryer. Right? I think.
I had the same problem with my stew filling ( with Amazon ). I food savered some and put the rest in a jar with a oxygen absorber. I've really been wanting to try the cream of broccoli tho.
It's really good, I think it's a little salty, but I don't use much salt.. My kids love it too... ;)

We bought the soup and thought it was tasty. It did not serve as a meal- not filling enough.

I never used to have this happen, but has in a few shipments recently... I think with everyone not wanting to go out to shop, the packagers and shipping carries are probably feeling overwhelmed...
I have been noticing as of late a-lot of damage via the shippers. I don't know if it's because they are overwhelmed with they uptick in orders happening, but it's not just Amazon. My last two Costco orders were damaged, I had Tide laundry soap in one and it was all over everthing, like nothing left in the container and the UPS guy through it on my front porch, you knew something was wrong because the box was saturated and falling apart.
I got the vegetable soup mix with a big dent on the bottom...thank you Amazon 👎. They have gotten so sloppy . Haven’t done anything with it, but I’ll repackage in jars like you.. thanks

I'm confused myself right now with a purchase of Augason dried whole egg powder from Amazon because I received a can with a small dent on the side near the top. It doesnt affect the lid but being that it is a small dent maybe it's not an issue. I had intended to store it away but I'm not sure if it can still affect the shelf life.
Had exactly the same issue. Amazon refunded my money and let me keep the product.

What was the price you paid?
We sure can relate to receiving damaged goods. One of our packages we received was not packaged well (cans on top of glass jars of Classico tomato sauce). The package arrived with tomato sauce oozing out of the bottom of the box. I had to open the box outside. There was broken glass (several jars) and cans covered with sauce. What a mess! We will eat the dented canned items first. I should mention that we did get a refund for the damaged goods.
Oh my goodness, what a mess! Glad they refunded for the damages. A little extra packaging goes a long way!

I have to ship cans back to Amazon frequently because they come so beat up that I'm sure that it shortens a shelf life a lot most of them are great about just sending me a new can some want to give you your money back of course I'm by the time that happens the price is gone up $20 a can
I'm having trouble getting the freeze-dry part to rehydrate. Have to slow cook at least 2 to 4 hours
If you repackage it in Mylar bags or vaccum seal it. What becomes the life expectancy of those products then?
I've got Augason like that from Amazon. We need to complain to Augason so they know Bezos is causing their brand name harm !
Use milk for label adhesive
If Amazon offers your money back find out if they want you to send the product back. Often they don’t. So you basically get it for free. That has been my experience with other foods.
I did check, they wanted me to send it back, so when I checked to see if they had more to reorder I saw the price had doubled. 😢
I ordered 2 of the 24 pound pails of Augason Farms Hard White Wheat for $18.58 each. 1 pail was damaged. Amazon said it was undeliverable & they would refund my money. By then the price had gone back up to its original price. I told them I really wanted the wheat & now it was way high. They sent me another pail for the money I already paid.
I just bought my first cans today. I was surprised when you opened it about all the empty space. How many servings are in 1 can?
they are sold by weight not by volume
Wish Augason Farms would make more of their veggie soups vegetarian. There is no reason to put chicken broth in there.
So, once opened and repackaged in the mason jars, it will keep for a year?
Just opened with a lid it will keep for a year, if you seal the mason jars it will keep close to the original date.

What a shame about the packaging. Glad you can save it in the jars. How long do the oxygen absorbers last in the jar on their own. As never used these, I have no idea how to use them correctly, do they lose their strength if not put straight away into another jar/vessel?.. Anyway, thanks for sharing👍😎

I like the Augason Farms & Thrive Life the best, I prefer there individual ingredients & soups... most of the pre mixed meals I didn’t love the seasoning... I’d rather mix it and season myself.

@@An-G1006 Alaskan Prepper does a taste test on several long term preps from Augason Farms & other places. That is why I have ordered from them. I have butter powder, eggs, vegetables, wheat, & oatmeal. He opened some of his & we don't have to.

SOME DELIVERY PEOPLE JUST REALLY DO NOT CARE HOW THEY TREAT THE PACKAGES OR WHERE THEY THEM. AMAZON DELIVERY PEOPLE DO THE BEST. THE OTHER TWO MAJOR DELIVERY SERVICES HAVE VERY FEW GOOD CARING PEOEPLE. I FOUND TWO PAKAGES TODAY LEFT IN MY OLD GARBAGE BIN..OPENED. THE PACKAGES MUST HAVE BEEN THERE 2 or 3 day
Question Jinne, i tried that trick with the flour in a paper bag then vacuum sealing it, worked beautifully!....can you do the same with soups like this that are cream based? Would you have to store them in the freezer afterwards? If not, how long would they last on the shelf?
Yeas, you can do dried soups/powders the same way as flour. If you vacuum sealed it, I would expect it to last pretty darn close to those 10 years.. I would store in a bucket once sealed up.

Just my opinion and that does not matter but please be aware how annoying it is to watch a soup review and for 1/2 the video is you whining and complaining. Do a separate video on the can problem. Stick to the script.
