Legendary British actor Michael Caine took to the BFI Southbank stage for the launch of his autobiography, The Elephant to Hollywood. In conversation with Francine Stock, Caine discusses a remarkable career spanning five decades, which had led to two Oscars and a knighthood. In this clip, Caine talks about the renaissance of his career after Jack Nicholson's persistence in casting him in Blood &Wine got him out of self imposed retirement. He also recollects the challenges he faced in becoming an actor, with drama schools impossible to find in Elephant & Castle, and he tells the story of how he lucked into getting the role of Lieutenant Gonville Bromhead in Zulu (1964).

I wish this man would do an evening with tour.
Ipcress File, Funeral In Berlin, Italian Job, The Magus, Deadfall, Gambit , Get Carter.......all classics, they just don't make films like that anymore
When I hear Michael Caine tell the stories of his life, I believe him. Other actors don’t say things like “If I had tried to be an actor ten years earlier, it would have never happened.”
No offense to his acting, but Michael Caine is about the only actor where I listen more intently in interviews than I ever do in his films. Whatever comes out is going to be much more interesting and humourous in interviews than what some scriptwriter puts down.
What an extraordinary gentleman Sir Michael Caine is
The difference between a movie star and a movie actor is Will Smith and Daniel Day-Lewis.
True.. its like Tom Cruise is a movie star and Tom Hanks is a movie actor
I love him and his voice
Wonderful story of how he started.
Wonderful person.
Good interview
Please Sir, with all due respect, don’t be complacent if you can. Can you? Thank you. Educated Rita!
Sir Michael Caine
Caine got the part by borrowing Liz Frazer's lucky rabbit's foot to take with him to the audition for Zulu. Liz said he didn't return it afterwards. He owes her..
Yeah yeah Michael, pull the other one🤣
HE SHOULDTVE BEEN A SNOOKER PLAYER LIKE STEVE DAVIS
