Great and helpful video, thanks. I assume the dryer heat should still be minimal? I have some ski gear that got extremely dirty with smoke/soot. Would you have any specific tips? I'm thinking of doing the first wash 2 or 3 times

I’d stick with just one cycle, but make sure you have a double rinse cycle. Then do the repel cycle after.
Keep the dryer on low heat has well.

good tip on using heated drying to rebond dwr. any forseeable downside to just handwashing to keep time, the volume of water, and also the two nikwax/graingers products, to a minimum?

I've never thought of that to be honest... Perhaps doing this may not have the wash set in to the garment enough. Give it a shot, and let us know how it tuned out.

Go back to back with the washing, then put the garments in the dryer.
