I have the trem mod on mine, and it works so well it covers the same territory as my '63 Brown face Princeton and '65 Deluxe reverb, trems which are totally different animals...Jesse is a genius :-) Needless to say I love my J20 !
Just as I was thinking “how is he sitting that close with a Gretsch hollow body without it feeding back…”? Beautiful sounding amp, can see why people are raving about them
I agree with the premise that the Tweed Deluxe + Celestion Blue is a match made in Heaven. You can spend literally hours going through the permutations of the two Volume controls - great fun on a rainy day. P.
cheers Dan love the lazy J . it sounds sweet . I'm running short bottle 6l6s in my Greer amps oktal grinder and much prefer the tone over the 6v6s. hope to hear the J I'm more of y'all's vids . have a great week
Thats the one I really wanted to see! Love tweed deluxe amps, but running one on 6L6 is just awesome! Didnt realize it had a VAC, Thats the way to go... no tone suck!
Love tweeds, and I've been chasing down clips of these since first hearing Dan's on an earlier video. Every clip I've found sounds really good, which is unusual. There's definitely something a little different about them compared to the "standard" deluxe circuit amps you hear. Some elements similar to the fixed bias tweed (e.g. Harvard, Vibrolux) sound, maybe?
Nice amp you habe there! I would Love to hear yours and Micks thoughts on the new supro amps 😊. And how they compare to fender amps in terms of clean tone/Marcus
Cool amp for sure Plus love the idea of L6 instead of V6 Very very cool I will have to research Jesse's amps Curious about the price point tho There is a guy in the FL panhandle that's doing good stuff w F style amps called Vintage Sound Check them out if you can
Please make a Clip of the Supro Reissue Amp's (Combo). Great sounding Amp's !!! And it would be awesome with your Style/Guitars :) Greetz from Germany and ,That Pedal Show, rulez*
Dan, I really loved your clean playing on your Telecaster in the beginning of the video. I love the sound of that Princeton-esque input compression - I have my "always-on" Ego set up to replicate that sound and that "sag" feeling (and to provide a nice buffer at the head of my signal chain). The Lazy J sounds really "Voxy" when you get it cooking. Do you think that's mainly due to the alnico blue?
Lazy j 20 is a fantastic amp , Jesse makes two versions the J20h ( higher headroom) , Is yours the j20 or the j20h. Wonderful sound and fantastically built . Love them
Are there any Lazy J Tweeds that come with Jensen speakers? I prefer to have a Tweed with Jensen speakers rather than Celestion speakers. Don't get me wrong, the Celestion speakers do create a lovely sound when they're installed in a Tweed, but I still prefer the classic Jensen/Tweed combo.
Love to see this one back on That Pedal Show again Dan. I dream of running a Lazy J J20 in stereo with my Magic Amps Brit MK2 (AC15). For the Alt-Americana sort of stuff I play that combination would I think be incredible.
I have a Gallup made tweed deluxe clone amp and am looking for a decent priced marshall style combo to pair with it. I was thinking possibly a vht , ceriatone, or tube depot clone. Any advice?
Love that amp. Did some research and found one on Reverb.com, mint, manufactured 2015 for $3200. More clams than I've got at the moment for gear - but as they say you get what you pay for, eh? So where is the control for that attenuator circuit you mentioned? Did I miss it in the video?
Can you guys do a show that fieatures the Colorsound Overdriver/Power Boost or any clones of that circuit? Maybe along with other early overdrive pedals such as the Crowther Hotcake and the EHX Hot Tubes from before the dawn of the Boss od-1 and the tube screamer? And some version of an Electra distortion? Lately I've been into building clones of these cool primitive drives from before the dawn of the green pedals we know and love.
+Thomas Freeman Hi Thomas. We have a show coming up that features ProAnalog's take on the Power Driver alongside some other 'non-normal' OD. We think you'll enjoy that one. Thanks for watching!
Excellent, looking forward to it! Ever since I built a clone of it, that circuit (along with a big muff I put in the same enclosure) has been one of my favourites!
Hi, great little amp. I never heard it live (not via RUclips). Is there a boxy sound in this amp? My Fender Blues Junior sounds a little boxy what I don't like...
Man that amp sounds good! I've been considering ordering one myself and this video might have put me over the edge :) Have you tried the Cruiser pedal with it and if so, how does it sound? I've heard the two pair well together?
Awesome thanks! Will definitely try to pick one up to go with the amp. Just love how that amp sounds. Thanks again for the great videos! I'm really liking the amp/guitar reviews as well
Dan could you just at least one time do a review on the Roland Blues Cube with tube logic ....I know there not tube amps and there probably your favorite kind of amp over solid state....but just once . I've seen plenty reviews on them, but would really like to hear you test drive one.....please?
Awesome amp! I couldn't afford one so i built one, but i couldn't afford the 300£ blue speaker so i got a Weber clone of the original 5e3 style speaker. I tried it with a Greenback 25w as well, but that was too spikey for me :) I hope you're happy with yours, mine is certainly my favourite amp!
Weber makes a great version of the Jensen P12R (the 5E3 speaker) for sure. I have a lightly used 1960 original too, and the Weber hangs just fine with it. Weber also makes a nice version of the G12 blue speaker: the Blue Dog.
It sounds good, but personally I couldn't justify buying one when a hot rod deluxe can come very close for a tiny fraction of the price. Still a very nice amp though. Tasty playing as always, Dan!
This amp got exposed by Brad's Garage, Psionic Audio, and others.....as CRAP. Maybe it sounds good when it's working, mostly the circuit and speaker responsible for that though.
OMG!!!... and if it's yours why did you not play this shit for real !!!!!! C'mon! Play it loud for god sake! Sounds like a radio to my ears! And you talk about it as if it was the engine of an Apollo 15! Jesus, I'm sorry I'd lost my temper.
Beautiful sounding amp, can see why people are raving about them
The 5e3 Tweed Deluxe I built is probably the most rewarding amp i've ever played.
So I understand where you're coming from Dan!
Lazy J Cruiser Deuce pedal is outstanding too!
man we're back we started...I love this guitar and this amp..thanks for bringing them back dan... cheers
All the gear in this channel. I go, “that sounds amazing! I want one!” I got to the website, see the price, and go, “well, shoot.”
Hey love the show. Could you do one on buying used pedals? What to look for, how not to get lemons?
+Daniel Paetkau great idea
Eagerly awaiting this one!
yeah would love to see this too - gives D & M a chance to dig out some oldies but goodies (e.g. MXR Phase 90s, Mu-trons)
I agree with the premise that the Tweed Deluxe + Celestion Blue is a match made in Heaven. You can spend literally hours going through the permutations of the two Volume controls - great fun on a rainy day. P.
I love, love, love the way that amp sounded with your telecaster. So good!
+Joseph Benz cheers J, yeah, amazing amp
cheers Dan love the lazy J . it sounds sweet .
Oooh, Tweed Deluxe deliciousness! Hard to beat that style of tone.
You are really an expressive and enjoyable player Dan.
ah, thanks Jason, that's very kind
That sounds great! love the complex tone on that!
These videos on your gear is great, why have they stopped? Can we get onto favourite pedals? I'd love to see one on your electric mistress.
Jack Kendrew from The Greasy Slicks uses it, and he has my favorite tones ever.
That sounds friggin amazing Dan. I wish it wasn't four grand....
Guys can you do a video about guitar (or amp or pedal) maintenance?!
lovely amp
you should really use it more at the show
Can you give us an explanation on tube amps, how the different tubes affect certain aspects of the amplifier itself?
Like Ax7's & At7's and so on..
Thank you so much for this demo Daniel!

Tim Bentley check out Tyler Amp Works. John makes a beautiful tweed amp
0:24 That sick bend tho
Nice amp you habe there! I would Love to hear yours and Micks thoughts on the new supro amps 😊. And how they compare to fender amps in terms of clean tone/Marcus
Yay! I've missed the Lazy J from the last 6 months or so (or however long it's been) of TPS! :D
Lovely playing, and great tone.
Cool amp for sure Plus love the idea of L6 instead of V6 Very very cool I will have to research Jesse's amps Curious about the price point tho There is a guy in the FL panhandle that's doing good stuff w F style amps called Vintage Sound Check them out if you can
Nicely done Daniel sweet playing, they need to do a reissue
Nice Knopfler-like playing in this video.
where?
Please make a Clip of the Supro Reissue Amp's (Combo). Great sounding Amp's !!! And it would be awesome with your Style/Guitars :) Greetz from Germany and ,That Pedal Show, rulez*
Love the sound of the lazy J!!
Have you and Mick ever reviewed the Magnatone amps??
My favorite amp you guys use.
Tweed Deluxes also have no negative feedback, which it shares in common with the Vox AC30.
There's the Talk Talk riff again.
Luis Guillermo Martinez Pinzon Absolutely nails that tone.
Definitely!
Great Tone Dan awesome!
Waiting on the one for your London Tele..... :)
Lazy j 20 is a fantastic amp , Jesse makes two versions the J20h ( higher headroom) , Is yours the j20 or the j20h. Wonderful sound and fantastically built . Love them
+gigguitarman cheers G, it's the normal one, I prefer the way the power transformer caves and adds the extra harmonic content
I would use something like this for cleans or as a pedal platform.
Thanks Dan
Been waiting for this
Jesse thinks my identical model will be ready in 6 weeks!
+TheNottheface you'll love it!
That Pedal Show It has arrived and it is epic!
I am intrigued by that Wampler amp.
a 3500 tweed deluxe? I'll buy an old one and a super reverb with the left over cash
Yes.
Awesome amp
if you were on That Desert Island with your Lazy J amp but could only save one pedal for your lonesome blues then what would it be?
Love to see this one back on That Pedal Show again Dan.
I dream of running a Lazy J J20 in stereo with my Magic Amps Brit MK2 (AC15). For the Alt-Americana sort of stuff I play that combination would I think be incredible.
I have a Gallup made tweed deluxe clone amp and am looking for a decent priced marshall style combo to pair with it. I was thinking possibly a vht , ceriatone, or tube depot clone. Any advice?
Hi, how did you do that harmonic thing at the start with the chords. Sounds sweet
very nice. sure Jesse will enjoy this vid :)
Did you guys ever do an episode for that lovely Super Reverb you use?
Love that amp. Did some research and found one on Reverb.com, mint, manufactured 2015 for $3200. More clams than I've got at the moment for gear - but as they say you get what you pay for, eh?
So where is the control for that attenuator circuit you mentioned? Did I miss it in the video?
Do I spy a few "jam jars" on the victory? Future vid?
+Mrbombastic1999 we'll get them on the show for sure :)
Hey Dan, what tube is driving the spring reverb tank?
Have you ever played a Victoria amplifier? I'm curious as to how their 20112 and the j20 would stack up to each other
How loud were you playing to get that level of compression from the amp? Love that sound, like the speakers at the edge of what it can handle
+Krish Patel it was loud, gig volume. This amp has maximum headroom at 2 1/2, anything after that just compresses more
Love that amp. Dan and Mick!! You guys need to come to the Dallas Guitar Show!!
+SupaTravis Williams we'd LOVE to :)
Excellent, looking forward to it! Ever since I built a clone of it, that circuit (along with a big muff I put in the same enclosure) has been one of my favourites!
what kind of mic Dano? you guys are the best
Looks like a standard Sennheiser e906 to me...
I'd call that an e906 as well, if it isn't, it's definitely a Sennheiser of the same line.
+Henrik Hansson Yep that's correct. They're the mics we use all the time. Cheers!
Thanks fellas:)
yeah I dont doubt it. They get real good sounds for the channel. TPS is legit
Hi, great little amp. I never heard it live (not via RUclips). Is there a boxy sound in this amp? My Fender Blues Junior sounds a little boxy what I don't like...
+Joep van Os This sounds bigger than the Blues Junior, but not as open as a Hot Rod Deville. Cool sounds!
Hey guys, what overdrive do you feel work best with this type of circuit?
Have you ever played a tyler 20/20?
Man that amp sounds good! I've been considering ordering one myself and this video might have put me over the edge :) Have you tried the Cruiser pedal with it and if so, how does it sound? I've heard the two pair well together?
+Brian Tobia a have an original Cruiser and a Cruiser Deuce. Perfect pedal with this amp
Awesome thanks! Will definitely try to pick one up to go with the amp. Just love how that amp sounds. Thanks again for the great videos! I'm really liking the amp/guitar reviews as well
You could have put a Cali 76 on with it.
Dan, did you put a new ding on your guitar above the neck pickup??
Nick Fox I was going to say the same. All along the lower bout too.
+Nick Fox its had that ding for a while, this guitar bruises like a peach
Great video Dan! What microphone are you using on the amp here?
Juan C. Hernandez looks like a Sennheiser e906 or e609
+Juan C. Hernandez Sennheiser e906. We use it for all of our videos. Cheers!
Dan could you just at least one time do a review on the Roland Blues Cube with tube logic ....I know there not tube amps and there probably your favorite kind of amp over solid state....but just once . I've seen plenty reviews on them, but would really like to hear you test drive one.....please?
+Robert Carper hi Robert, maybe is the best we can do. Maybe for the next solid state episode
Sounds really deluxe. ;-)

How do you think this would handle a Baritone guitar?
Really well. More grunt than a tweed deluxe and a bit more headroom, so should be great!
@@ThatPedalShow Excellent. I'm very tempted to make this and a Dan Electro 66BT my next big purchase
More so on the edge of breakup?
It sounds good, but personally I couldn't justify buying one when a hot rod deluxe can come very close for a tiny fraction of the price. Still a very nice amp though. Tasty playing as always, Dan!
a true guitar freak has a guitar worth more than his car!
This amp got exposed by Brad's Garage, Psionic Audio, and others.....as CRAP. Maybe it sounds good when it's working, mostly the circuit and speaker responsible for that though.
Well, I’ve done hundreds of gigs with this amp, it’s been incredibly reliable and sounds fantastic. I’ve known crap amps, this is not one of them
Not a Fender !!!
OMG!!!... and if it's yours why did you not play this shit for real !!!!!! C'mon! Play it loud for god sake! Sounds like a radio to my ears! And you talk about it as if it was the engine of an Apollo 15! Jesus, I'm sorry I'd lost my temper.
aschneider70 stop watching/listening to guitar videos on your phone
LOL! an iMac 27"
aschneider70 I think part of the issue is he's playing filtertrons through it which sound fucking terrible when overdriven.
