Very helpful video! Just bought a Quarq DUB DZero, which is my first PM ever (after 45+ yrs. of riding roadbikes it will hopefully help to slow down the age-induced decline in performance via more structured training ...). So, I will need a new bike computer (my current one does not process power data). In contrast to many contemporary riders I am not looking for as many features as possible - quite the opposite: Power, speed, distance, elevation gained - that´s it, GPS not required. I came across the SRM PC7 and it seems: it shows just what I need and nothing I don´t need. Only question I have: Is the PC7 able to reveive data from the Quarq (and from a Garmin speed sensor)? The Quarq uses "Ant+" protocol; the PC7 uses "Ant+ sports" according to its manual - is there a difference between "Ant+" and "Ant+ sports"?
I'm not a fan of the SRM head units. It may work, but that's one for SRM support (or someone more familiar). If you're after core functionally, ease of use, auto ride sync, etc, then the Wahoo range would be a good start.
Dear Shane, thanks very much for your quick and straightforward response. I´ll check with SRM but it seems that this is it for the PC7 and me. I did check the Wahoo (and Garmin) products and they will certainly do the job, only they offer way more than I want. So, from my very personal perspective these modern bike comp. are like using a "Hattori" knife when you just want to butter your bread. I´ll keep searching. Apart from this: Shane, I find your approach to examining all those products and the way you present your findings exemplary in many ways: transparent, competent and trustworhy - keep going! Dietmar
I just checked with SRM: "Leider kann das PC7 nur die Daten von unserem ANT+ Power Protokoll (CTF) empfangen und nicht mit Powermeter von einem anderen Hersteller kommunizieren"; so, PC7 is for SRM-PM only. As SRM claims, their PC8 would do the trick, but, as I wrote: "Hattori"-knives ...
Just picked up a 2023 Canyon Inflite 8 with this setup. Bike build went like a charm but then....this PM is sending cadence, but not power data! Have tried it as ANT, BT, used Garmin and Zwift and phone with App yet NEVER any power readings. Help?!
So do you need all of that for the spider to work as a power meter? I was under the impression that it would just replace my spider and give me a power meter??
I’m not familiar with that specific crank. The SRAM tech docs are really comprehensive, so will likely have the answer. If not, their support team should be able to solve this one.
@@gplama Thx a lot! Now I my choice would be xcadey spider only or quarq spider + arms. I have rotor crankset so I do not really want to have duplicate parts.
What about Power2Max NGEco? I have one of those, it has had auto-calibration for years from what I know. Pretty cheap too if you have a compatible spider based crankset or are willing to use one of theirs. Has been trouble free for me. Pretty much just turn on bike computer, make sure power meter is paired and ride.
Is there any difference between the sram gxp crank with dzero power meter and the sram dub crank with dzero power meter your reviewing in this video? Hi, I am running the Quarq Zero SRAM AXS on my mtb fully and recently put my fully on my Tacx Neo 2. The Tacx Neo when set up with my road bike so far has been within 2-3 % in line with my Garmin Vector 3s on my road bike. But now I see the Tacx Neo read more than 10% lower than my Quarq. Interestingly the Quarq numbers feel more accurate with how the legs feel it. I have the Mountainbike on full lockout but can the variance i am seeing still be due to the remaining minute movement in the rear shox?? Or is there another known issue? Thanks..

Is this the same as the Quarq DFour powermeter, except the DFour will work with shimano? Will the DFour have the same problem of a lower power reading on the right side due to it being on shimano chainrings?
Probably you can help me…I bought a Sram red AXS quarq powermeter, and when I’m riding the data is ok…the watts looks balanced and without spikes, however after the ride when I upload to Garmin app the watts looks wrong I mean not balanced go two 0 watt and after return to the real watts, so the averages doesn’t reflect the reality of the ride, that’s pretty bad in order to analyze the trainings and the averages of watts….I already change the battery, unpaired and paired again but the problem continue….I don’t know if probably affect the powermeter that I have calibrated it from the garmin and not from the sram app? Please help me
I don’t think so, because I have another powermeter in my other bike and everything works perfect, the measure is accurate and also the data send it without spikes…it’s just with the sram AXS quarq powermeter…🥴
However Today I restarted the Garmin and paired all Sensors one more time, calibrate the powermeter in the official app (not in the Harmon anymore) I’ll try again…and see what happens

Hi there, can someone educate me on how to use the dzero power meter? I recently bought one on eBay. How do I connect it to my iphone? Or do I need to buy a cycling computer (if yes, which model should is compatible with the power meter?)
Hi Everybody, I train on a NEEO 2 with Quarq DFour. Both have auto zero. I have been testing the setup for a while and not to happy with the delta between both. They track perfectly parallel but 2-4pct apart on flat Zwift courses. At 300 watts on hilly courses however the Neeo 2 reads 30 watts higher than the crank based power (defeating physics: drive train gain ;-)) I do experience the Neeo 2 slipping issue on the Neeo quite a bit but the 10% delta in watts difference seems to also be the same when I am not slipping. Anybody else had that? Is the new Neeo or Smartbike confirmed slippage free? Cheers

Hello great review, what do you think about dfour for ultegra R8000 ? Does worth it ? Add some weight? Cheers 🇫🇷
The DFour is based on the same tech, so that'd be a good option. No idea on the weight. I won't be a lot.
Just picked up a 2023 Canyon Inflite 8 with this setup. Bike build went like a charm but then....this PM is sending cadence, but not power data! Have tried it as ANT, BT, used Garmin and Zwift and phone with App yet NEVER any power readings. Help?!
This is one for SRAM support.
So do you need all of that for the spider to work as a power meter? I was under the impression that it would just replace my spider and give me a power meter??
If you have a chainset that the spider can be swapped out for the Quarq it’s a straightforward process.
@@gplama I’ve got an older SRAM RED 10 speed group set. Just hoping that I don’t need to buy all the quarq chain set to make it work
Does it fits old dzero or sram red 2x11 8 bolt cranks if i buy only spider?
Will I have to change cranks or the bottom bracket? Or can I just bolt the power meter on and that’s it?
I’m not familiar with that specific crank. The SRAM tech docs are really comprehensive, so will likely have the answer. If not, their support team should be able to solve this one.
Nice review. Is this spider compatible with rotor 3d crank arm?
This spider isn't. See the Quarq website for compatibility listings.
@@gplama Thx a lot! Now I my choice would be xcadey spider only or quarq spider + arms. I have rotor crankset so I do not really want to have duplicate parts.
Can you calibrate the slope with the Legacy app?
What about Power2Max NGEco? I have one of those, it has had auto-calibration for years from what I know. Pretty cheap too if you have a compatible spider based crankset or are willing to use one of theirs. Has been trouble free for me. Pretty much just turn on bike computer, make sure power meter is paired and ride.
Sorry saw further down people have already asked about this. Hope you can get your hands on one soon.
Is there any difference between the sram gxp crank with dzero power meter and the sram dub crank with dzero power meter your reviewing in this video?
I have the gxp dzero on 1 bike and just bought the dub dzero fro my new bike hoping that I would have similar numbers to work off no matter what bike I was to ride, will that be the case or are they 2 different beasts whej it comes to power data?
Thanks
Two DZero units should produce the same power numbers within the % accuracy spec.
Hi, Shane, I was using my quarq Dfour for quite sometime, nothing happened ever. Just I finished my ride yesterday and washed my bike. It first started showing zero watts and then after factory reset it started showing 1000-2000 watts with zero offset in negative 8000-25000.
Just need your advice what to do
That’s one for SRAM/Quarq support.
👍
Hello, do you have any shifting issues when using SRAM changing with Shimano front derailleur?
No
Hi, I am running the Quarq Zero SRAM AXS on my mtb fully and recently put my fully on my Tacx Neo 2. Thanks..
There's a lot to dig into there. More testing. More power meters to test against. Static weight tests.
@@gplama I was afraid so.. ;-) I can post an overlay of the power curves from the Zwiftpower Analysis tool but guess you job is not really being a personal tech solver ;-))
IS THE 8BOLT OF DUB SAME AS 8BOLT OF BB30 CRANKS?
I have an 8 bolt spider(just a dzero not dzero dub) on my sram red (non etap) bb386 evo cranks, just wondering if the dub cranks would fit the spider correctly.
I don't believe so. Ping SRAM/Quarq for an official answer there.
If you have to choose only 1 PM, what would it be? Favero assioma or this Quarq?
Both 😉
@@gplama tbh, didn't see that coming 🤣
Is thuch a Power Meter able to be used on an indoor spinning bike? I am surching for a possibility to measure power on an spinning bike without click pedals.
Only on a real bike that's on an indoor trainer. Most 'spin bikes' have their own style cranks that are incompatible with this crankset.
Shane Miller - GPLama Thank you very much. Than I will wait and hope for a „Kickstarter“ to make a powermeter for normal sport shoes:)
Is this the same as the Quarq DFour powermeter, except the DFour will work with shimano? Will the DFour have the same problem of a lower power reading on the right side due to it being on shimano chainrings?
The Shimano issue is due to the crank arm design, not the rings.
@@gplama Thanks, so if I installed the DFour has the same accuracy as the DZero?
In theory, yes.
Interested to compare to the rotor inspider
Me too....
Please help me
This is one for Garmin Support to dive into.
I don’t think so, because I have another powermeter in my other bike and everything works perfect, the measure is accurate and also the data send it without spikes…it’s just with the sram AXS quarq powermeter…🥴
However Today I restarted the Garmin and paired all
Sensors one more time, calibrate the powermeter in the official app (not in the Harmon anymore) I’ll try again…and see what happens
You still hadn't tested a p2max?
I haven't been able to get one.
@@gplama There's a new distributor now in Australia. You should try again. They seem Very helpful. I absolutley love my P2M NG. Would be great to see how it stacks up against the Quarq, has alot of similar features (ie auto calibration). Hopefully it passes the Lama lab test and is just as accurate!!
@@gplama I would love to see the p2max tested as well.
Is the Dzero dub the same power meter for both mtb and road? I’m looking at the mtb version.
Looks like it. Ping SRAM/Quarq direct for specifics/compatibility with your cranks.
Shane Miller - GPLama will do, cheers mate
my quark dtmzero dub with eagle xx1 crankset reads calibrated 12.5% higher than the tacx neo. is there anything i can do to fix it?
You’ll need to determine which one is incorrect. A pair of power meter pedals will help here.
@@gplama its most likely the Quark because the LR Stages is equal to the tacx neo
I have both!!
Is there any chance you could test something from power2max? NGeco?
Sure, if I can get a hold of one.
Hi there, can someone educate me on how to use the dzero power meter? I recently bought one on eBay. How do I connect it to my iphone? Or do I need to buy a cycling computer (if yes, which model should is compatible with the power meter?)
Best look up "Racing and Training with a Power Meter" which covers everything from the basics to the more advanced side of things with power meters.
What's your opinion, quarq dzero vs power2max ng
No hands-on with the power2max, it hasn't been through the Lama Lab testing. I've tried.... I'll try again to get a hold of one.
@@gplama thanks)
Just one meter - but when everybody talks about 1 side pedal meter it is bad. Here it is good - why?
Zygfryd Homonto
It’s not exactly 1 side
Because it’s placed in a location that can measure total power, not just left or just right.
Shane exactly
The left side power is also measured ?
Yes. Spider measures both sides.
@@gplama thx
Will this work will eagle DUB cranks
I guess so. Hit up the Quarq website. They should have everything you need to know over there.
Magic Zero came out with power2max, came story
Cheers
Hoping you or someone can answer a zwift related question. I have switched to apple tv, to run zwift. Using a tacx neo 1...and have a Garmin 935 watch...I cannot find a source that explains how I can get my heart rate to connect from my watch to zwift, help, please.
The Forerunner 935 HR rebroadcast is ANT+ only, so the Apple TV can't see it (it's only Bluetooth compatible). Get yourself a Bluetooth HR strap (chest, or arm band) and you're good.
@@gplama Thank you so much...I am days away from the Tron Bike, and all my hours on Zwift are thanks to your amazing videos
Everyone but my wife thanks you...
Is this one staying on the bike?
It’s still there, yep.
@@gplama I have you noticed any issues with the sram bb? I have a bb86 bike as well and I've held off on getting this meter because of people saying the bearings are too small.
@@95s10nj No issue to date. Maybe they'll wear faster? It'd be good to see data on this.
why would anyone sleep in their helmet and not glasses? that is just plain odd, must be an Australian thing, and please tell us that you had the sense to apply chamois cream also
All the stuff you have and you are working on your bike upside down on the floor?? Why?
It’s on a mat, not hard floor. And it’s no longer 1996 where levers get scratched doing this.
I guess this doesnt work w the new sram 12 spd red
There are 12 speed specific Dzero versions of Red and Force AXS.
@@michwoz Not Red but Force. Red uses a one piece that has to be replaced by SRAM..
I am using 1x12 Force with SRAM BB in a 386EVO BB and the www.quarq.com/product/sram-red-axs-power-meter-spider-107bcd/
@@arundelnet Yeah. Still, those are all Dzero power meters. Ones with integrated chainrings are probably the most accurate power meters out there. There is 107BCD Red/Force AXS Dzero 1x/2x spider available too. www.quarq.com/product/sram-red-axs-power-meter-spider-107bcd/
@@michwoz Yes. To be fair I'm running www.quarq.com/product/sram-red-axs-power-meter-spider-107bcd/ :-)
Will this power meter bolt on to Sram Force 22 carbon cranks? I can't seem to find a power meter to replace my older Elsa. Thanks!
Head over to the Quarq website and look up compatible spider power meters. This will only fit DUB BB cranksets.
Why not a 4iiii on a dura ace crank? It works too well? :)
:)
"MagicZero is the best innovations added in 2019..." The Power2Max knew it since 2010... :D (SRM also), but as i experienced this MagicZero works weird in Quarqs , not a stable feature and can cause wrong measurements. (as You have a few on trainer and outside too as i see..., my friends who riding in pro-conti team are using it with MagicZero off and calibrate it manually everytime. Maybe the FW #11 will be better but this #10 is worse than the #7... )
