Thank you for this post! I’m an African American woman, and I’ve been doing puzzles for years. The lack of black themed puzzles, and black owned companies has been frustrating. Since the pandemic I’ve noticed a marked increase in black owned companies. While this has made me extremely happy, it also caused me to question the legitimacy of these companies that appeared to pop up over night. I really appreciate the fact that you’re highlighting some of these companies, and the quality of their products. This really makes me more comfortable buying them. Keep up the great work, and please provide more reviews of black owned companies 👏🏽💕

I love the message behind "Future Veterinarians" and "Future Scientists," etc. But yes, that ISLAND puzzle is my favorite.
I just want to take a moment and appreciate how many hours of footage Karen has to go through for all of these videos. I mean 7 puzzles in one video wow. I sure do bet you wish you were on an island right now. My favorite one was the puzzles of color one. It reminded me so much of my old friend and his little boy. The picture on the puzzle looked alot like them.

I love that you included kids puzzles in this! I rarely see puzzles for kids featuring black kids. I will definitely be checking those out for my classroom. Also, I appreciate that you shared your full, honest opinion about each puzzle. It helps the business owners know what they can improve on and future customers can better decide what they would be interested in buying.
I'm European, so it might be harder (more expensive) to get these puzzles for me, but the last one would be great for my little 4 year old sister. She loves puzzling and our dad is a full time musician. I aleady got her a memory game with influential women (Rosa Parks, Marie Curie, Frida Kahlo, Malala etc.) she loves it.

Honestly, it’s been years and years since I’ve done a jigsaw puzzle, but I’m really tempted to buy one from one of these companies. I love that “Island Hopping” one…so bright and colorful! That “Priceless” one is really lovely as well!

These are all great, but I especially love the one from Puzzles of Color! Dads and their kids get me every time!! I looked on their website and they have other other ones that are so beautiful. I’ll be ordering one!
I always put my puzzles back in a resealable bag so to start off with one is extra environmentally friendly for me!
That's such a good point about jigsaw images for kids being so important. The puzzles I did over and over as a child are forever seered into my brain. I'll definitely be looking at Puzzle Huddle for my kid's next birthday. It's obviously a wonderful message/cause, but it doesn't hurt that their illustrations are so dang cute.
I’m so glad you did this video! I have and love a handful of puzzles from Puzzle of Color. I also did Equilibrium from Dope Puzzle Co a few months ago, I was equally bummed about how pixelated the image was. I figured hey, it happens, and there are bumps on the road for small businesses and it was still fun to do and I’m so glad the company exists! Thanks for being honest about that Karen, and thanks to these company founders for doing this work and creating these beautiful puzzles we can enjoy!

I love the image on the apostraphe brand! If I ever do a puzzle (I hope to one day!) I'd choose really colorful designs with less blank space.

that island puzzle looks really fun, but I think Puzzles Of Color is my favorite brand out of these five, their puzzles look really fun and interesting. I also really like the two kids puzzles at the end. they're very colorful and look very sturdy, which is great because they'll be put together and taken apart dozens, if not hundreds of times and the pieces might be thrown around the room or nibbled on by a toddler or a pet or used as a stage for toys and they really look like they can handle all of that. speaking from experience on the sturdy part, haha, I used to do this Disney puzzle at my grandparents' place and I know for a fact that my brother and I did not treat it very well, but it survived for years and I think it's still around, complete with all pieces, I think we donated it so it might be in a school or daycare now.

I especially loved the father and son on rainbow background that you showed by Pieces of Color. I took a peek at their website and saw one with a string bass player that spoke to the kid in me who chose string bass his first instrument!
I'm obsessed with that Apostrophe puzzle.
Came across your channel a couple of days ago and have been binge watching. Now working on an Escape puzzle which I love and have ordered a few more. Used to puzzle a lot then started knitting (more order from chaos but with a finished product I can wear/gift) but been missing jigsaws recently. Love that when I finish putting together the Escape puzzle it's not finished. Ah, the benefits of doing simple, repetitive actions like knitting, puzzling, yoga! Oh, island.
The Puzzles of Color one was beautifull! All of them really. I must follow them all.
I got a puzzle from the dollar store recently that I was very pleased with. It was a 2 in 1 (200 piece and 100 piece). The 200 piece had lots of unique shapes so it was very fun.
The dope pieces art was amazing.
The father and son puzzle is absolutely adorable. I need to add that to my "save money up for" puzzles list.

I recently did "Comfort and Joy" by Puzzles of Color. Such a fun image and even though the pieces are all standard shape, they were unique enough that I only had one piece that I thought fit but didn't. And the piece quality was excellent. No peeling at all and a thickness that let me transfer small sections but collapsed well when I was cleaning up. I hope they expand their collection, especially the 1000 options. I am tempted by "Priceless" though.
I like the addition of the overhead time lapse at the end of the whole puzzle process. A cool, little Island of completion.

Because you reviewed Puzzle Huddle last year, I bought one of their puzzles as a gift for my cousin’s kids. I just love their illustrations! My one complaint was that they didn’t have a selection of 200 piece puzzles. When I ordered, they only had one (Noah’s Ark). I was bummed because the one I really wanted to order was the astronaut but I knew that 100 pieces wouldn’t be enough of a challenge for 2 kids. Thanks for this review. I’m gonna head over to Apostrophe to buy a puzzle for myself 😊
Based on your evaluations of these companies, I think you would really enjoy the puzzling experience of Puzzle Sensei! Great vid Karen! They are definitely some of my favorite Black owned puzzle companies making a mark on the IG puzzle community.

I was postponing to buy a big puzzle for 10 years (give or take) but watching your videos made me remember this dream, and I bought 2 new puzzles, 1 of 3000 pieces and another of 4000 pieces... they arrive tomorrow.
The only sad thing watching your videos is because a lot of those companies dont sell to Brazil, and when they do ... is Very pricey! But i bought of a brazilian company called GROW. They do very good stuf too, but more the tradicional style. more different styles is almost impossible to find for a good price...
Anyway... love your videos, i am already forcing my whole family to help when my to 2 new puzzles arrive tomorrow.

I recently went to my parents home and took with me my 4 puzzles that I had as a kid to try to get back into puzzling. I have already done them all and I'm looking forward to finding some new puzzles for cheap online

About half of my kids' puzzles have the same piece shape every where which is soooo frustrating as I can see them get the wrong piece at the wrong place and not even noticing !!
They are so pretty. I love the idea of these brands, I really hope they can grow bigger. These minor issues aren't really annoying for me, coming from small business. I've had the pixel problem with a big brand in my country, so even if it's not the ideal, I could ignore it. The images are so colorful that even from behind a screen we can see it, which is so nice!! The "future veterinarian" is my favorite, the image is so cool, the premise is really important specially for young girls. But I need to mention the island one, because if I were to pick one for myself, that would be this one!! The image looks difficult, which is something I look for in a 1000 pieces one, since they are kinda fast to do, and the colors are so pleasing to look at! I can't buy any because it would be too expensive for me, living in another country, but I really wish I could.

So many beautiful puzzles in this video! Watched with my 4 year old while doing kids puzzles with her (she is doing 100 piecers already! I hope her baby sister takes after her) and she was so excited to see you do the puzzles lol. Regarding the not holding together, I have noticed that many childrens puzzles don't hold together very well. Such a shame, and frustrating for kids. Especially disappointing from larger puzzle companies. We have some Curious George and Little Mermaid puzzles from Ravensburger that don't hold together at all. Incredibly difficult to move sections around.

Great video. Love the Apostrophe puzzle - currently working on Eeboo Sloths and the imagery is similar. Challenging but fun in the doing! Love the kids puzzles too.

The first one reminds me of the eeboo puzzles, specifically the rainforest one, and the one under the sea.

When you sort the edges, do you not separate the corner pieces?
Thanks for the tip that for some puzzle styles, sorting by color is harmful.
Not all art can be puzzles, but all puzzles are art!

Karen, I did the Island Hopping puzzle from Apostrophe Puzzles. Loved the image and doing the puzzle was a lot of fun. (It took me a LOT longer than it took you!) I have followed Apostrophe for a few months on IG and they are really good people. Great reviews on the other puzzle companies and I’m going to check them out.
