I was fortunate enough to get to see the demo in Sound Room 4 on Day 2 of the 2024 CEDIA show in Denver. Absolutely amazing! It's hard to even wrap your mind around the idea that a home theater system can get THAT good. It was better than most commercial theaters that you have been too - and by a wide margin! Just entirely over-the-top incredible.
Yes, most of the the sound rooms are there to show you what is possible. Of course you can always scale down to meet your actual needs, but it was incredible.
Super cool stuff! Comments remind me of fellow musicians who go see an amazing concert and say, "I may as well quit playing the guitar!" Or someone who won't go to look at new home tours because of home costs. I say, "That's inspiring!"
Any chance that we could get a line on those wave 3D diffusors? I've been trying to get a hold of some for a while but I've only seen them at RPG acoustics.
Hi guys just got home. have learned a lot but never thought I could contribute. Hope the eval on the Epson projector will be helpful. thanks jeff in Salida.
I wish I had the opportunity as well. We never made it in there. I don’t expect it to be breathtaking like the Griffyn or the other Christi’s I have seen but I bet it still looks great.
We did do the concert from Imagine Dragons on Kaleidescape that was incredible. Also, Matt was playing some two channel music. I’m assuming from Tidal.
I’m allowed to film anything I wanted. No point in filming the demo material due to copyright and also recording a multichannel Dolby Atmos system in a mono lapel mic is pointless.
During my VIP demo in there, I allowed anyone to film whatever they want. It's tough to get a good shot in a room without an hour to get everything dialed in for a quick shot. When I build my theater build though, my plan is to build in a camera system for this kind of request. The issue is just that you can get some great shots, but it still isn't the same as seeing it, because a 200" screen still looks pretty small with the context of the room, or because the viewer is watching it on their phone. This is where objective data does best at confirming what the manufacturer claims. Did you just want a picture or short video of a clip? In this case the demo was three hours, and nobody wants to see that!!! 😉
@@shahross8366 I'm not sure what video we all have from the event, but if not the first two projectors I plan to install h-2-h are the Sony 9 and the Epson 7000. Not inexpensive either, but probably the top of what most of us can stretch to afford. Then hopefully I'll get some loaners to test out in the $5k-$8k range as well. When I do, I'll be sure to get some video clips, and I'll dig in with Phil at Projector Reviews to see what tips he has for capturing a good representative image.
3-layer Immersive Audio is actually the way its supposed to be done. That gives you the most coverage. Thats why I recommend a MINIMUM of 7.1.6 for dedicated rooms: Listener-Layer 7.1 as normal for surround sound. Height-Layer: 4 speakers....Front Height + Rear Height Top-Layer: 2 speakers.....Top-Middle (stereo Voice of God) This covers the area surrounding the listeners. The height angle from 20 degrees to 45 degrees which is for reflections on the vertical plane. Then the Top-Layer covers overhead effects for flyovers and things of that nature. Additionally, a stereo Top-Middle can function not only as Overhead/Voice of God duty, but can function as Surround Heights to support the side surrounds as well. So with 7.1.6 (FH + TM + RH), that covers all your bases. Additional speakers are only for more spatial resolution. In such a configuration, the next speakers I would add would be a Center Height (for Auro and DTS:X-Pro) then Wides.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong. If the movie studio is using the Lumagen processor to make the movie; what level of piss poor video footage are we getting at home from their work? Also, what is wrong with our Blu-Ray players, TVs, projectors, etc... if a Lumagen or MadVR is needed to fix the image? Geez...
